Caldor fire definitely hit there. No idea about the top or bottom of surrealistic pillar. (Probably got hit) The top of the east wall has got hit and people are thinking that Forrest you hike down after doing a route has been impacted. Something else is a possibility of Rockfalls during climbing because rock heated and cooled during the fire (not sure if that is gonna be an issue)
@@arboristBlairGlenn Wow this is an old one ... The truth is that no we haven't yet properly thanks to covid but the plan is to get out there soon. We're an active Scouting family and as a Scout Leader I've twice had to postpone climbing events which would include my kids as well as many others. It's on the the cards for 2022 without question 👍
400 ft for one of the most popular routes. look up dan osman's speed climb up lover's leap. 400 feet in 4 mins. 100 feet per minute. He does a really sick but risky dyno halfway up. Love all the good holds but Osman looks like he is literally running vertically up the cliff at full speed. He died doing some silly rope jumps shortly thereafter with a wife and kids. RIP.
Love the sculptured stone and fresh high wildness of the area. Looks like you made some good memories that day
Something on eastwall? and then surrealistic pillar?
Ahh, a fellow rock climber. Heard that whole area burned?

That was really fun.
Smashing day out ... I can't wait to go climbing with my kids ... Might have to wait a while being that they're 3 and 6 but it'll happen!
Old post but are you climbing with your kids as you stated? Hope so.

How tall is this cliff/ Have you ever climbed Raven's cliff near Cripple Creek Va? It looks to be close to 1000 ft from the creek below.
