    Andy Zeck painted up my 28mm figures for French Indochina. He was a lovely man and a great painter. It's good to see that he's still being spoken of.

      Yes indeed, he was an amazing painter and a great member of the community 👍🏻

    I little advice for Micheal: you should use your tanks to push and brake enemy lines, put some pins on infantry and create distraction on infantry. In this way your infantry can advance better because they receive less pins from enemy infantry. This is a real life tactic used by the soviets (Kursk is a very simple example) and can work nicely even in bolt action, especially when the opponent has less AT options in their list.
    Anyway, really cool battle! Would like to see it again on the channel!

      Thanks, I will pass it on to him… he did need to get them up quicker as I think it would’ve been too much for my force to handle!
      Glad you liked it 👍🏻

    Beautiful terrain, where are the buildings from?

      Thank you! They are really nice, they are from 4ground I believe, not sure if they are still available, but if you can find them they are great sturdy and prepainted , so once built they are good to go 👍

    Beautiful table and setup, maybe one day I will get around to getting my soviets done.

      Thanks, glad you liked it. Was a fun game, we have a collective set of terrain which helps so can field lots of different theatres.
      Good luck with your Soviet army, Michael has been building his for years and has a huge collection

      @theministryofminiatures That's nice to build and concentrate on a particular army. I built the Germans, British, and Americans so far. The reason is no one around where I live is interested in playing and my two Sons are young yet. But both are showing interest in painting miniatures. Which is promising and one day old dad might have some painters to help. Lol Thanks for your time and ty for the content.

      You’re welcome, I love sharing as we have great games, tables and figures.
      Getting ppl to play is hard, post on Facebook group for like minded folks in your area, or find a local club to demo… that’s what I had to do.
      My son is older now, but alas, after he painted a few figures he found video games and now has no interest!
      Good luck and fingers crossed for your adventures!

    Great battle report and beautiful table. I really like your content always good to see bolt action.
    I have used the Finns a lot in the past I did not know they had acess to an armoured car with a flamethrower I thought they could only take the BA10 as unreliable with the light AT Gun.
    Would help my Finns out a bit if that is the case as the BA 20 for the Soviets is a solid vehicle.
    I tend to use more minor nations than the big hitters and like using the Romainians at present.
    Axis support is a great rule linked in with a free meduim howitzer.

      Thanks positive feedback is always appreciated 👍🏻
      I love the Finns also… great faction! The army composition depends on the army list you pick. Under the continuation war you can take the BA 20 and replace the LMG with a flamethrower… 85 points at regular, and it is awesome to use, I just need to find decent model so I don’t have to proxy the model all the time! I am sure there are 3D printed versions that would look cool 😎
      Thanks again 👍🏻

      I'm pretty sure you can't take an armoured car with a flamethrower for the Finns - they have access to the BA10 and BA20, but without the flamethrower upgrade to the BA20, and the captured vehicles allowed in their Continuation War 1945 selector doesn't include this option either.

    • @theministryofminiatures
      @theministryofminiatures  Год назад

      Unfortunately the app we use ‘Second in Command’ allows this option, so we have used it. The points have been paid for the upgrade also. We mainly play friendly games so just try to have fun.

    I had half an ear on this whilst painting my new army - Soviets! I know how it feels to run inex troops from playing late war Germans. For them to 'work' you have to roll a bucket loads of dice. Thankfully some of the units are Green so can improve. This leads me to state I didn't see any Green tests or re-rolls for failed order tests that would lead to a rout. The Finnish armoured car would have the Unreliable rule. As I mentioned I was not paying full attention so I may have missed it if not keep this in mind.

    • @theministryofminiatures
      @theministryofminiatures  Год назад +1

      I am sure we did miss some of these, some rolled off camera… Michael has only played once in the last couple of years as he is more into painting and collecting, but also he was git pretty badly during covid lockdown…
      But hopefully he enjoyed the game to encourage him to play more!
      Thanks

      @@theministryofminiatures I see. These are things i'm trying to make sure I remember when I finally get to play my Soviets. I made a hash of some of my games forgetting Vengeance at crucial times!

      @theministryofminiatures  Год назад

      Indeed, it’s even harder to remember both army rules whilst filming 😂
      Good luck with your new force, I have slowly been buying Soviets so can do a new army at some point.

    flamers roll to see if they run out of juice every shot.

    • @theministryofminiatures
      @theministryofminiatures  Год назад

      Yes that’s correct, remembering it every time is another thing! Especially as Michael hasn’t played this year.
      Some of the rolls are off screen, but we did forget 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Needed either Assault Engineers or tank riders with SN-42 body armor to really throw a wrench into the Finnish forces and plan, I have lost count how many time my 11 man squad of engineers with flamethrower and body armor has made an enemy to just stop and think how best to crack open this nut as they only die on 6's and they can be down right frightful with all of them other than the flamer having SMG's. The big down side is they only are able to move 6" either on advance or run!!!!

    • @theministryofminiatures
      @theministryofminiatures  Год назад

      Yes, a squad of engineers with body armour would be awesome and would certainly pack a punch… however Michael was going for an inexperienced themed army, drafted in to fight for the Mother land.

      hah, thats 196 points for a single unit. Might aswell take a howitzer tank then xD
      my go to is 5 engineers, no body armor, with flamer and 3 smgs, in a brencarrier... Brengineers!
