It's finally time for... Battle for BFDI (BFB)! The series just gets more whacky as we progress, and I'm already VERY scared of Four...

Just wanted to tell you:
A lot of the characters that seem new in this season are actually from previous ones!
They came from 3 main places:
1. In season 1, a recommended character could join the game, and while David won and joined, the other 29 characters participated in BFB.
2. Before season 2, people would vote on who would join the season, with Donut, Puffball, Gelatin, and Yellow Face joining the game, and 8 other characters who didn't make it but now compete in BFB.
3. Finally, a day before season 1 episode 25 came out, they released a joke episode with the characters Foldy, Stapy, and Liy as contestants.
Edit: Another thing to note, there's always some short scenes after the credits of the episode and they are usually very important, so remember to watch them!
And Loser was an inanimate example set piece in Season 1, now personified.

To answer your questions, BFB was both made and takes place after BFDIA and IDFB. To this day, we aren't sure where exactly they are because we don't know what happens in the rest of IDFB. You can notice that it does take place close to Yoyleland, as you can see Yoyle Mountain in the background of a few shots.
Episodely reminder to not watch any other object shows other than BFDI and II for a while.
I think it was an dream of four, and stapler and foldy and liy are ocss that he invented, he recorded the bfdi 25 troll and he was not wanted to lose the cast so he decided to add every 1

BFB is by far, one of the most popular seasons, and also the longest as of now. I’m so glad you finally got to watching it! The episodes might be longer, but it’s a bit more serious than the other seasons as you go on. Anywho, Here are ALL of the characters genders that you have seen so far:

1-there are 64 Contestants
2-The contestants that are “new” to the show are just Failed RC That didn’t join BFDI or BFDIA (With the exception of Foldy Stapy and Liy that only appears in BFDI 22222255 and Loser who was 1st seen as a visual presentation of the Winners and Losers in BFDI 7)

The post credits scenes in bfb(well not the first episode) and tpot tend to have a lot more important stuff than the ones in bfdi and bfdia(1 to 5e), so you should watch them
Especally in tpot
The reason for all the new characters is that bfb featured every bfdi character that could have gotten in the show (meaning it has debut characters too) except for nonexisty and purple face (who was replaced with loser)
Nonexisty was actually considered but they decided he would be a waste of a slot
None exist. He comes in tpot and purple face comes in bfb 23 so yeah, they do come back. Oh yeah, purple actually appears in BFDIA 9

and one minor ,(but not significant) thing you've may missed. while taco was in the jawbreaker theres a segment of her being there for 2/3 months on end and even ate her own fish,, (bfb 2) thats why her tunas gone, just a funny little visual trivia I wanted to share

All of the season are in the same universe and take place in goiky, bfb happens after idfb finished
Also that loser character is a reference from a bfdi episode where they said the winner could take a player from the losing team and it showed that
Also all the new characters are from the bfdi auditions and bfdia beggings, as well as the idfb intro, the only newcomers are: stapy lie and foldy, but I'm pretty sure lie and foldy appeared in a 2016 video, this season takes place from 2017-2020 I think

Bfb is a bit of a "soft reboot". All the previous seasons seem to have happened canonically, but it seems everything was brought back to a new status quo, somehow.
All the new characters are recommended characters from bfdi that originally didnt make it, and a few more new ones

He's called loser because of a scene from BFDI that had a visual of "winners" and "losers" being random chunks of material. Loser, and a TPOT character, Winner, are chunks of that material.
