Here, New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman lays out the problems with taking the resurrection stories seriously from a historical perspective.

Some additional facts about the New Testament that should cast doubt on it's reliability:
All 4 canonical gospels are written by anonymous Greek-speaking Christians living 40-70 years after the death of Jesus, not by eye-witnesses: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorsh...

We have no original copies of any book in the New Testament, and most of the copies we have come from many centuries after the originals were lost: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical...

The new testament may contain as many as 11 forgeries, letters that were written in the name of someone other than the person who actually wrote them (The term "pseudepigraphy" is often used instead of "forgery", but the meaning is identical):

When I was clawing my way out of Christianity, this debate helped finally close the door forever. Once you ask the question. How can we even have knowledge about something that happened so long ago you see how weak the biblical argument is. Be free from this nonsense and enjoy your life. Don’t wait until your in your thirties like me.

I am intrigued as to how anybody in those days could know the time as being 9:00am.

Sundials. Or reading the sun directly. There was no way to tell minutes without a sundial, but you can by eye look up at the sun and tell roughly what our it is by its position in the sky, or by the directions shadows are pointing and their length if you know the place you are in. This dosn't work for places that are very far north or south, but for the ancient world we are talking about (all of Rome, most of Africa and asia,) it works just fine.

How could someone that didnt exist be raised from the dead

    • @leexiong2128
      @leexiong2128 6 лет назад

Actually, Jesus probably may have existed. It's hard to confirm though, as it was 2000 years ago, and mostly, his legacy is shrouded in misunderstanding and distortion, just like how when one person tell another a story, and passes that story over several people causing it to be completely not what it was when it began.
It's not to say I believe Jesus arose from the dead or anything. These are all metaphors. Christianity is actually a misunderstanding of Jesus. It is a religion that is about Jesus, rather than the religion of Jesus. Jesus's religion is actually quite similar to that of Buddha, Zen and many other ancient religions, or better described as simply an understanding of the nature of the universe, the mind and man's place in it. There is actually a slow, but resurging understanding of it today, mainly because we're being forced into it. Look into the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts and many other "enlightened" individuals. These are the teachings of Jesus.

"Probably may have" lmfao, that's telling in itself.
In the stories of the bible he's an amalgamation of the positive aspects of several messiah figures that were, at the time, still widely known. This was an attempt to make the transition easier. His divinity is obviously not true.
As to the existence of an actual Jesus; the evidence some people think is valid points to several different people who were popular at the time. The evidence no one disputes is the absence of, namely from the Romans who were obsessive records keepers. Not a single mention of someone with the popularity or following that Jesus supposedly had.

    • @leexiong2128

Well, I cannot prove your past either, so must we assume you never existed yesterday? Jesus, an amalgamation of figures? I'm not sure what you mean by that? But his divinity was true. If you think divinity is the ability to be buried underground and arise as a zombie, then no he's not divine. But if you were to say divinity is the understanding that our spirit is immortal, and that we're all the children of God, then yes he was divine. We too, are all divine, we just don't know it, and many have forgotten it. This was the teachings, the good news.
Whether or not Jesus as a person really existed is up to debate, just like many of our lives will be hundreds of years from now, but it does bring into question that his teachings were so similar to other enlightened individuals. I personally suggest you read Eckhart's book 'The Power of Now.' It will give you not only a better understanding of the teachings of Jesus, but a better understanding of many religions, including Christianity and why it has become the way it has.

Lee Xiong *"But if you were to say divinity is the understanding that our spirit is immortal, and that we're all the children of God,"*
Fists show 'god' exists, then show 'immortal spirits' exist.
Until then, you're just talking out your arse.

ᗩ乙ᎥᖇᗩᖺᗩᙓᒪYou may likely already possess the knowledge needed to see it. One of the greatest pointers to it for atheists and materialistic people is the law of energy, for which it cannot be created nor destroyed.
I cannot tell simply you for it is a matter of understanding and subtlety. The difference in seeing our spirit is not a matter of acquiring new knowledge. It is a new perspective of what you already see.
Additionally, by the use of your words I can see this is more than a conversation of ideas, but also a matter of defense and identity. I have no desire to fight, convert or battle your ideologies and identity. If you are unable to see your spirit, you have the right to. If you choose to see from that which is different, than from that which is the same, you are free to. Such is the music of the universe. As I already said, we, and you are all divine, whether you know it or not. The kingdom of heaven is our home, and we all return home, sooner or later.

Christians today, who affect such certainty over what their god-man said and did, might be well served to pause and reflect that Christians who lived within a generation or two of their supposed savior had no such certainty, that they speculated wildly, disagreed with each other to the point of violence, organised rival churches. For more than two hundred and fifty years the enthusiasts of Christ concocted astonishing fairy tales drawn from Pagan and Jewish antecedents and their own imagination.
It took the Pagan Emperor Constantine in 325 ad to transform the Jewish messianic cult into the Paganised Christianity we know today, all other versions were wiped out, their followers KILLED.

"10,000 contemporaneous" - There's actually ZERO contemporary accounts. The very first mention of Jesus wasn't written until at least 20-25 years after his death. Go look up what 'contemporary' means.
