  • I visit the New Forest National Park, as a day trip from London, where I take an easy bike ride from Brockenhurst to Lyndhurst in hopes of spotting the New Forest wild ponies. The bike ride is just one of numerous New Forest activities on offer. Whilst we did this as a day trip from London by car, this was because the UK government are encouraging us not to use public transport during Covid. However this is an easy day trip from London by train (direct trains are available), going from London Waterloo to Brockenhurst and using the New Forest Cycle Hire immediately next to Brockenhurst train station.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable day trip where we saw numerous wild ponies and wild horses as well as alpacas and the opportunity to enjoy the English countryside.

I'm eager to do more day trips to the New Forest once government restrictions allow us to do so. Do you have any recommendations of cycle routes (I'm open to longer/more challenging ones - I'll rent an electric bike next time though) places to visit and food to eat? Please leave a comment and let me know.

I'd love an eBike - got to get somewhere to store it sorted out first though! I bet you'll be able to cover so much ground in the New Forest with one. I hope you enjoy visiting, and thank you for your kind words about the video 🙏

Thank you for your kind comment. I have to confess, I did go with my partner (who does a lot of the shots for me) though if I fancy an adventure and no one else is able to join me, I try not to let it stop me. I recently went for a solo hike at Box Hill and should have the video up in a few weeks time - hopefully that will inspire you too :)

I was out on the mountain bike today only a short ride I did the green trail in Ae forest only 9 kilometres but very enjoyable I've heard New forest is fairly flat but a big forest. I saw a deer on a forest road on the slopes of Criffel about a week ago I went to record it but it ran into the woods!

Criffel in Scotland? I found the deer up there to be very scared of humans and would dart off even if we were quite a distance away - a shame it went into the woods before you could get a shot! :( The route we took was incredibly flat, but not being used to riding a bike too often, it still tuckered me out. Nice to hear you were able to get out on 2 wheels 🚴‍♂️ yesterday - it did nothing but chuck it down with rain here yesterday! ☔
