Hi Tim, apparently The Lady in Red was stabbed and strangled between rooms 502 and 504 on the fifth floor not 512. Her room was split into three separate rooms, 502, 503, and 504.
While 504 is now officially the Lady in Red-themed room-lavishly festooned with scarlet curtains, a flowy bed canopy, and matching period furniture-more activity has actually been reported in room 502

I've stayed at the Mizpah Hotel twice. It's worth mentioning that the town lies in the middle of the remote high desert between Reno and Las Vegas. Part of the spooky vibe I got was rolling into town after sunset through some of the darkest night skies that you can imagine. The sign on top of the hotel is the brightest beacon of light after driving several hundred miles through some very remote territory. There's a small casino next door and a whiskey bar across the street. The town is very dog friendly. I don't think it was literal dog smell in the hallway, though dogs are welcome at the hotel (I brought mine). To me, it smells musty, similar to many historical B&B's in the UK. This is probably the nicest hotel in NV between Vegas and Reno on US 95. If you're a light sleeper, you may be awakened by the many long-distance trucks that barrel through town all hours of the night. You might have had an older mattress on your bed. I recall the beds to be quite comfortable.
If you do want to freak yourself out a little, leave your room and go down the stairs to the lobby in the middle of the night. They keep the hallways very dark.

Gorgeous building. Proof that you can own an old hotel and still keep it clean and pleasant (Britannia, take note!). If there are spirits there, they must have sensed you were nervous and decided to leave you alone for the most part. Or maybe they knew you were in the room with the wailing window and decided that was hair-raising enough!

She and I organized the 74th West Coast Science Fantasy Conference (Westercon 74) in Tonopah, using the Mizpah, the sister hotel the Belvada, other local hotels, and the convention center, in July 2022, and we had more than 150 people who came from all over the USA for a four-day event here. Great, loved watching that. I happened across this hotel a few years ago when travelling with my 3 children. I had driven for miles that day after google maps took us down extraterrestrial highway so we were already a bit on edge. I had no prior knowledge of the Mizpah and only ended up there after the western down the road tried to charge me 250 dollars for a room. Whilest chatting with the receptionist my daughter spotted the guest book and tugged at my arm to tell me about the book of ghostly encounters! The receptionist said ah dont worry its only the fifth floor but you can take a look at your room and decide if you want to stay. So we piled into the very small lift and pressed 2 for our floor. Suddenly, in absolute horror I realised the lift was taking us to the 5th floor! we all freaked right out but then my son pointed out it only looked like the number 5 because of the mirrors and it was infact a backwards 2. We didn't even walk into the room as the kids were adamant they weren't staying after seeing the gloomy corridoor and photos, baring in mind we still didn't really understand the theme of the place, we just thought what the hell is this place! 20 minutes later I was walking back into the great western with my credit card in hand. To us, arriving after dark after such a massive drive, we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and tbh still felt weird in the western hotel, we hadn't even seen the Clown Motel, that would have finished us off I think.

Tim, we live in Nevada and have traveled through Tonopah many times to and from our home in Northern Nevada and Las Vegas. The Mizpah is our favorite hotel in all of Nevada! The owners (descendants of the hotel's past owners) also have renovated the Belvada Hotel in Tonopah. We've never noticed a smell of dog in the hallway but have never stayed on that floor, either. I think you may have smelled what we have noticed in stays at other old Western hotels - I chalk it up to age. On our first stay, they put us on the 5th floor in the Lady in Red themed room - but didn't tell us about it until the next morning! We didn't see or hear anything odd unfortunately. Too bad you didn't see the Scarlet Lady in your room (yes, I mean it... she's a mannikin). Another sight in the hotel is the little hallway beside the elevator, the walls are covered with receipts signed by celebrities over many, many years as the hotel is halfway between Reno and Las Vegas and was a popular stopping point in years past.
Besides the hotel itself, there is a historic Mining District right behind the Mizpah where you can see why the town exists in the first place - silver mining. The owners (descendants of the Mizpah's past owners) also have renovated the Belvada Hotel just across the street and the Tonopah Brewing Co., whose food and beers I can personally recommend. There are two ghost towns within a short distance as well - Belmont and Manhattan.
Good video, I enjoy watching your videos and adding destinations to my bucket list. It was fun seeing your two videos on hotels in our neck of the woods... er, desert!

Hi Tim. Thanks for sharing this haunted but interesting hotel. You're very brave to spend a night there. I don't think I could sleep well. I would be paranoid thinking someone touched me, etc. Would Gaby stay here with you? I would definitely take my hubby to stay here with me. I like the photos & that huge empty bar. Very vintage. Cheers Tim, you're a champ

Wow. Would love to visit there. Absolutely amazing. The grand design is amazing. Im so pleased they haven't tried to make it look modern 🎉

It looks amazing . It’s giving Victorian brothel vibes. I researched Rose the lady in red and it’s doubtful she even existed never mind died in there . That being said ghosts or no ghosts it looks so atmospheric

There are some real brothel's in the area, or at least down SR95 and up near Reno. I wonder if they have the same decor. :) Of
      course I wouldn't know...........

Oof so creepy. The photos in particular I found very spooky. Something about the decor, so dark and old fashioned, adds to the atmosphere. Well done for being able to walk around alone ‘cos I couldn’t have done it. 😂

Looks and sounds spooky. I think the howling wind and creaky floors would keep me awake. I stayed in an old hotel in Scotland and people walking up and down the hallway at all hours, too noisy.

Love your videos! If you're ever back in the States, you might want to check out Hotel del Coronado in California. It's a great old haunted hotel on the beach. Unless maybe you've already stayed there and I haven't seen that video yet 😊 Thanks for sharing your journey!

I hail from Eureka Springs, Arkansas and we have a hotel called the Crescent and it's been a girl's school, a cancer hospital run by a fake who committed mail fraud and performed experiments on patients and a couple of times it's been a hotel. I've had experiences there that are totally unexplainable. Not to mention that Little Switzerland aka Eureka Springs, Arkansas is a very eclectic and beautiful and historic town.... it would be well worth a visit by you. It's an underrated area by those who haven't been. But it's the favorite of anyone who has been

The look of the building and all things around takes you back to another time and also can condition you to feel fear. Great though making the most of what they have.

Love your videos! To get bacon like that just line a baking pan with parchment paper and lay the slices single layer, cook in a 350-400 degree oven until it's reached your desired crispness, turning about half way through cooking.
