I have not play this game in over 30 years. My favorite game for an Atari when I was a kid growing up I had a hard time jumping over the three alligators i would fall in there mouth thank you so much for showing this I am in my 40s now getting old of course I am a millennial I grew up with all the old consoles I miss them very much. 😁😅
I'm really enjoying these longplays on the intellivision. Please keep them coming. I picked up an original system a couple of years ago and I'm having fun exploring the game library.
I loved that game! I never owned it, but I played it a few times and read a lot about it when it came out. I loved the concept, the 50’s sci-fi theme, the artwork, and the gameplay was so original. The creator’s name was David Crane IIRC. He reminded me of another artist/developer I loved - Tim Schaeffer, who did Maniac Mansion and later, Psychonauts.
I’m told you technically don’t beat this game, when you collected 36 treasures, it actually trigger a kill screen. Basically the game freezes. But it is here on the Intellivision as well
There are only 32 treasures. And yes, the game _deliberately_ freezes when you collect them all, at least in the Atari 2600 version. The reason for this is probably so you could get a camera and take a picture of your score to prove you had done it. (A perfect score is 114,000 points.)
@@jakeconer Except that it says "The objective is the same as in the Atari 2600 original". In the Atari 2600 version, there are only 32 treasures. The description is wrong.
I had this on Intellivision I could never complete the game I could not find all the treasures I eventually ran out of time. If some can post a video of the completion of this on Intellivision I would appreciate it because I don’t think anyone could complete this game finding all the Easter egg treasures.
@@deanking6405 No, I mean that in a good way. Games of today are so complicated and stuff, so I just appreciate retro games being simple and relaxing to watch. That's why I prefer old games in the first place.
I remember playing this in level 4 of "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure" on Sega Genesis.
and windows!!
@@dsol876 , fun fact, X-Men: Legends also had an homage to this game as well.

If you’re 43 or older, you’re part of Gen X. If you were born in ‘79, especially the first half, you are a member of Gen X.

David Crane, the person that had made Pitfall!, as well as Pitfall! II, would later make a game for the NES/FDS that is called A Boy and His Blob.

Is the jumping sound supposed to be an 8-bit rendition of Tarzan's yell? (1:11)
3:53 F.
Yes.
Yes, that's the vine swinging sound.

@@jakeconer I'll take your word for it. I've never played the Intellivision version.

no really look it up
Yes, I remember that ad too.
Ahhh…this takes me back to my childhood! Thank you!
In episode of South Park, they made a reference to this game
This brings back memories as a Kid Good time's
Man, if there's 255 screens and 32 treasures, that averages out to 1 treasure=8 screens. Where ARE they?
I wasn't aware there was an Intellivision version of Pitfall. It's very similar to the original Atari 2600 version.
Yeah, i was expecting more
IT is amazing how similar it is to the Atari version.
The graphics quality was one of the many pitfalls of this game.

Cool!
Best graphics on the Atari VCS
It's intellivision
@@Paul1n_bebo I know I was just stating that Pitfall had the best graphics on the VCS. 😁
@@briangriffin5701 oh, Understable have a great day

Sounds this game ;))
This game funny lol
Boring but good.
Thankfully this is one of the games where the sequel was MILES better than the original
