I was in the City end as a 10 year old with my mate and our Dads and 4,000 Blues. Atmosphere was amazing and a deserved win for Barnsley. Was not the 1st or last time we got beaten by lower division opponents.

There's not much that makes me cry, but this does. What a side, what a night. Absolutely magical.

Jeez I remember this night was behind the goal. With City. Barnsley were great that night so well done to them.

You’ve obviously gone on to bigger and greater things since then, always wondered what a city’s fans perspective was that night

Lisa's husband, Andy here. I went to this match as an eight year old My team was Barnsley and my favourite big team was City, they got to the cup final the year before. The atmosphere was electric, the match was full blooded, I don't think I'll ever be at a sporting occasion like that again. All Reds fans who were there that night remember it. Liverpool in the next round was memorable as well. Boy we had a great side then!👍 What a goal!!!

That was a great night, an atmosphere that will never be bettered at Oakwell. I was right behind goal when Aylott headed in, fantastic memories!

Me too Dave, I think we’ve this chat on Twitter, I was just to the left of Corrigan, the roar when Aylott’s header hits the back of the net still gives me goosebumps

You can tell Norman Hunter's influence on the team, tough tackling. Yes there was bookings, but the players did not make any fuss over it.

33,792 attendance that night, (02-12-81). Time code 25:12 for Aylott’s brilliantly headed goal.

Bond soon dismantled the young Allison City team and replace it with many players past their best, and ok short term it probably saved the side in 1980/81 but long term it took many years for City to get back to where they were in the late 60s/early 70s
