I didn’t realize until now that the season 3 mando comes with his rifle. Odd inclusion considering he didn’t have it at all after the Razor Crest blew up in season 2.
Weird set. I'm glad to see a well-designed Grogu after so many afterthought figurines, and I like Mando's cape and articulation upgrades. His body just seems very wide, like 3+ heads across the shoulders and all the way down from there. As for finish on his armor, it's like they only pulled references from deep space and mines of Mandalore, which I guess is accurate to some of s3? Cool review, I like seeing SHF here for a different perspective.
I’ve got every 1/12 iteration of Mando from BS, Mafex and SHF including this new one - Overall, it’s a thumbs up as this is by far the best articulated of them all, and the accessories are superb but whilst they have addressed some sculpt issues (it no longer looks like it has massive feet) it still has some issues and the armour colour change wasn’t necessary imo (but I accept that is more an aesthetic choice as there is no definitive colour in S3 due to lighting / filter choices in various scenes - perhaps they wanted to reflect the Mines of Mandalore scenes). Ultimately we are still waiting on a definitive Mando, so looking forward to what Hasbro and Mafex have done with their latest versions.
I have both BS and Mafex Mando’s on preorder, and recently had this arrive the other day. I’ll be honest really like it, and glad I’ve got it.
The Mafex Mando is my personal Favorite. Can’t wait for the new one to come.
Same! IMO Mafex's helmet IS spot on. The Figuarts Gorge w/the ears is pretty cool.

SHF always seem have great promo shots, and then the production version has some comspicuously changed and goofed up part. That Grogu is nigh-on the perfect Grogu figure though.

The upcoming black series looks like a game changer in my opinion, if the helmet is as crisp as the promo pics are then its already a winner for me
Was debating this one as I have the s2 shf version. But definitely going with the mafex v2 and definitely hyped for the new Hasbro. Great review!
Hello Luke thanks for sharing your thoughts on these different Mando figures and showing us the issues of each of them, good and bad.
I've watched this video twice, last night shortly after you put it up and now. I honestly don't see a really good one, I also noticed the issues with the helmets. The Grogu figures look pretty good and I like the one that has the ear movements lol 😅.
I'm not a big Mando fan so it's difficult for me to say. I don't have Disney+ and I only have the original Mando figure and the first Beskar Armor first version. I actually got the Beskar Armor first and tracked down the original later and picked him up at a good price a couple years later in the red and black box not the white box.

Figuarts still presents the best Mando for me overall -- but some customization is still needed 🫤
I have the new BS one on preorder, and I opted to preorder the Mafex instead of the this one. The S1 SHF was okay, my S2 SHF's leg broke clean off which kinda just soured me on getting another SHF of Mando - I'm curious on how the Mafex will stack up to this release. I think the upcoming BS one could end up being the best-looking one from a sculpt/proportion perspective, really excited for that one to release.

big thank you for reviewing it and comparing with other releases, I personally have just first and second figuart release and passed on everything else because there is no big of an improvement compared to original 2 releases, they always make a new mando but when it comes down to differences it's not visible to me, ok... so he got black armor which is not even show accurate, only positive I love is grogu ears that turned out amazing but not worth buying whole set for him
There's just something off about the proportions to me, even past the wonky head/helmet. I wanted this to be good because I'm craving a new Mando figure and the Mafex one is probably a decent ways off (it hasn't gotten delayed yet and this is Mafex lol), but this ain't it. I'd rather get the first Mafex one with its random pink pistol. To me, other than that, it's probably the all round best one. But I'm hoping the upcoming Mafex becomes my best "catch all" Mando, especially since they just included... every accessory for him.
Wow that likeness on Grogu is spot on. Can you put the head on the first Figuarts the Child that comes with the soft goods ?

Hey man, why is the arm armor where there are whistling birds on the side of the elbow? Does this part of the armor rotate to stay in the correct position?

Got Glavis Ring World Mando and possibly one of the best TBS figures released to this date. It feels like a $100 SH Figarts figure for $25. Worth it. I also received the S3 SH Figarts Mando and this figure IMO is only worth the 2 Grogus and pram not a great figure. The Beskar tone on mine is almost black it is dark and significantly darker than the one featured in your review. The wired cape is bulky and sticks out awkwardly with the jetpack. SH Figarts version might be a custom Mando warrior figure maybe....TBS Mando Glavis is the way and with the new excellent soft goods cape just perfection IMO. The figure itself does not feel gummy in hand and the accessories like are of a firmer plastic. Another thing I always complain about is lack of accessories with TBS but with these sets I almost get overwhelmed with how much extra in the SH Figarts version you get especially the hands and keeping up with all the small bits!!!
Is there a specific site you go-to to get SHF/MAFEX figures? Specifically the Mafex Sandtrooper? I'm not too familiar with the Japanese sites.

How do you take the cap of off the season 2? I tried everything except forcing it, as I don’t want to break it
I had to rip it out from under the armor, it's not reversible unfortunately. I regret doing it.

So sad that we’ve gotten so many Mandos and they all have glaring issues. I sold all my SH Mandos except for the ep.1 version which I have with a custom head and cape. Of all these the Mafex is my favorite but that still has some bad engineering and the legs are wonky as hell
Great review, my only gripe would be the music is a tad bit too loud

Im on the Mafex train for Mando. The proportions are off for SHF versions (tiny head and long legs and OVER Engineering of the accessories) Though the upcoming Mando release will def be the last figure I will be purchasing of the character. Im selling off the rest except the SHF in his original costume.

I have to be honest, I think Mafex has better proportions overall. A close second would be the soon to release Black series.
I've been looking for the perfect Mando for years, passing from Black Series to Model Kits and even Vintage Collection, Figuarts never convinced me and I hope the Mafex 2.0 to meet my expectations
Got my S3 Mando 2 days ago. I was looking forward to it, but just like you, I'm very disappointed in it. Hopefully the Mafex S2 is stiil on track for release next month.

I notice that all your older Mandos and put back perfectly in their boxes. How many of your figs are stored away in boxes? Feels like a bit of a waste not to enjoy them on the shelf.
Have you see my collection tour? I’ve got too many to display. I keep an “archive” of most releases so I can make better reviews, but I don’t need to see everything out all the time
@@LandspeederLuke interesting, I'm having to make similar concessions. I've been defaulting to selling vs storing. While I like the idea of rotating the collection, it never seems to work out for me.

They butchered my boy, everything is a downgrade from the initial promo pics. I was really close to cracking and ordering this fig but I’m good to just hold off for the black series BOBF version.

And Mafex V2 has already been massively delayed. Wonder if it’ll come with another pink blaster and funny helmet too
Call me a Hasbro shill, but the upcoming BoBF Black Series Mando still looks the best to me. Just not a fan of the proportions or the color on this one. Even if the imports come close, for such a big price difference, that shouldn’t happen. I do like to see different reviews like this tho, Luke!

When you consider cost as well, I think it is hard to argue that the BS versions are very, very good. I have a SHF season 2 in my collection, but I would swap him out for a BS version if I could get anywhere near my money back for him - which is very unlikely.
Black series is still winning for me, Obviously that Grogu is the best one I’ve seen, but yeah that first Mando from the black series just looks the best
Something about this new one just seems completely off. Kinda like season 3 in general 👀
IMO Mafex has the most accurate geometry on the helmet and proportions.
The OT customs is cook but the crown of the helmet has incorrect geometry. Yeah, the Figurarts version is wonky, but the Grogu is tops.
In my opinion Mafex is superior to this one
