As lockdown eases on the Channel Islands, we packed up our camping equipment and set off to the World's First Dark Sky Island in search of the Milky Way.
Camping on the island of Sark is a hugely popular attraction due to the lack of light pollution that the island has. On a clear night, the view of the stars is one of the best you will find anywhere on earth.
Sark is an island situated in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and is completely removed from the rest of civilisation with no street lights and no cars or buses. The only motorised vehicles on the island are tractors, meaning there is a peace and serenity on the island that you will struggle to find anywhere else on earth.

I had exactly the same experience on Sark - cloudy every night except for the last two, when there was such a bright moon you could hardly see a single star! Ah well.
Aww man both times we have been that is exactly what happened 😂 so typical as Guernsey was clear skies every single night!

I loved this! My Grandpa first came to Sark in the 50s and now it’s a place my whole family schleps over to every other summer. It’s very special to us and I miss it so much! So thank you for this vlog, it really scratched my missing Sark itch ☺️ I really hope you get to see the dark sky properly again 💕 it really is amazing

I've been there just after it became a dark skies island in a January and I was lucky as it was clear the night I got there but not the second night.There is some light pollution from Cherbourg and Guernsey but not very severe.

Aw, thank you for sharing this. I check every now and then for new Sark videos and came across this one. Although I’m from Australia, Sark was my home for 11 years up until 2 years ago. I miss it so much and my husbands family and the many friends I made that still live there. Shame about the moon that ruined your dark sky experience, which is absolutely amazing and very unique. Glad to hear you are keen to return when there is less of a moon, it will be worth it. I loved the drone footage, was surprised the island allowed you to take it. They should allow more of it. Looking forward to watching some of your other videos too.
We had so much fun on our visit to Sark! Such a beautiful island with such a slow pace of life, was lovely for a break.

We have just spent our first Christmas on Sark
It was truly magical
Carol singing with a group of musicians from La Coupe all the way back into the Avenue Which was lit with Christmas Lights and decorations with Free food and drink at every stop
This is a must if you decide to visit off Season
