      Margie what’s the actual solution?

    • @duydinhnguyen6225
      @duydinhnguyen6225 4 года назад +5

      @@kylangurnell9152 solution is simple. ? Drugs race or grown poppy keep it give it out to the addiction 3 times a day in small amount etc government control them , like Canada every day addicted go to drugs house shooting up dr and nurses around to watching them.
      Less crime and cops know exactly who they are ? Same as methadone clinics government control.
      Drugs addictive they shooting up just to keep them not sick, but they function like normal person, help them find job , work learning study etc... in other countries it's work. ? Why not try in USA.
      100% is less crime
      After they settled in work etc start to tax make them pay for it like medication.
      The end no more drug dealers government make all money.

    • @silverbullet2008bb
      @silverbullet2008bb 4 года назад +12

      @@kylangurnell9152 Legalise all drugs, what I put in my body is none of the government's business. Then clean heroin can be supplied to addicts by doctors at a low price so no overdoses and no need to steal. Give it to them for free if necessary. Medical grade heroin (diamorphine) is no more expensive than aspirin. It's been tried in Switzerland and UK and worked very well both times. Provide monitored injection facilities such as Insite in Canada, there have been zero deaths there since it opened. Then if they want to come off it provide methadone/suboxone clincs and rehab. All the money spent on police and criminal justice system should be redirected to healthcare for these people.

      Michael Rhodes this is what people should think about before wasting their lives with anything. To not be selfish. Drugs or suicide isn't the solution. Like a quote that I have read, it is not ending your misery, it is passing your misery to people who loves you. When I got depress, it was an unbearable feeling of just trying to control emotions, and I thought killing myself would end my misery. I thought of the people who loves me, specially my 2 young kids then, I didn't wanna be a bad example to them, that when they face hardship in life someday , that they will just give up easily because mom did it, why can't they. I have decided to fight the evil instead, fought it hard but in the end it was a war worth fighting for.

    My ex was addicted to heroin and has been on methadone since we found out she was pregnant with our daughter. She always talks about how heroin use and it's users are misrepresented in the media and how there are a lot of professionals that take it recreatively without wrecking theirs and other people's lives. She says all this while she's busy causing chaos in her own and all our lives.
    I honestly think most drug addicts delude themselves into thinking they know best because they take it and often fail to see the bigger picture.

      +Kristof Van Hoeven But there are a lot of professionals who take it and are able to function. Functioning addicts are very very common, and so are chippers(People who use occasionally, maybe once a week). I've met plenty of successful people who use Heroin.

      Drew Nichols I somewhat agree with what you're saying, that if someone stays in that lifestyle long enough they'll hit a bottom, but that isn't always the case and it definitely doesn't happen to everyone. There are definitely functioning addicts, I've seen people first hand who functioned for a decade+ addicted to a substance. I've seen people who would use occasionally throughout the years and then wise up before things got bad. That's the thing, all different manners of people use drugs, and not all will get addicted, and not all addicted will hit a rock bottom. That's not to say using a substance such as Heroin is foolhardy, the odds of having some serious life damaging consequences are definitely against you.

      It’s tough. The first few months are rough but if you can make it past that you’ll be ok. Craving and triggers will happen and you’ll want to use, it is almost a guarantee. I was clean for over a year after an OD and then I got my heart broke and went back to using again and aug 28th is my 2 year clean date. This time I had help along the way, subutex, I went to a out patient program and now once a month I attend a maintenance class and go to one individual counseling session. Even I still have moments where I’m watching something or see someone high and I want to use. I was addicted to anything opiate. It could be heroin, opana(DOC), dilaudid etc. anything that would give a rush and a nod or that itch from being high. Just keep pushing through and if you have to get help then get help. People are so welcoming that have been where you have been as well.

      Lola Rodgers What a great, positive and thoughtful post. Congrats on your clean time! I had 10 years clean off everything !!! Then I went thru a divorce and some other tragic losses and relapsed and now I will have 5 years clean in November but it sure was much harder this time around and the shame has really kept me isolated and depressed. Keep up the good living :-)

    • @lolarodgers2961
      @lolarodgers2961 6 лет назад

      Missy Mayes thank you so much! Yes I agree it was much harder the last time around. I totally understand. Unfortunately I still stay a little isolated and ashamed or inferior but I try to keep my head up because I’m still kind of young. Sadly I have managed to contract a blood disease in the process from using the last time and it keeps me kind of down and out but I still push through and I hope it only keeps getting better for me. Drugs change lives and when you get clean you never return to the person you were before but a new version of yourself and you grow in knowledge and power from the experience in many ways. Now that I’ve been through it I can only hope I can help someone some day so my past use isn’t a complete negative. Whether it’s having the ability to see addiction forming in my future children or being someone to talk to. Addiction doesn’t always have to have that negative stigma surrounding the subject. I wish you the best on your journey. I know some days are easier than others.

    Heroin is not the problem. The black market is the problem. Drugs have a 1000% markup what a junkie spends in a day or a few hundreds of dollars if legal would last a year. They shown in switzland that giving ppl free or near free heroin allows the ppl that can't quit a stable life and they get a job and off the street. Also unclean unknown doseage as well as crime come from the black market.
    Legalize and regulate all recreational drugs.

    • @EricBurbeck
      @EricBurbeck 6 лет назад +9

      CBreeze you don’t think that the fact that heroin is so incredibly addictive that it overrides all other priorities in life has something to do with the problem? It’s not really recreational if you need it to survive, and just giving people easier access isn’t going to help them when they can’t go to work because they’re high.

There needs to be more affordable programs for addicts, treatment programs, substitution programs, etc. I know many who don't go to treatment because they can't afford it. An addict isn't going to save up money. People aren't going to ever quit using. It's not right but that's how it is. One more dead is too much

      I agree they shouldn’t arrest the users, but the distributors. Or at least regulate it through the government and then crime will diminish because now people won’t have to sneak around. And all colors of people use, it’s just now it’s gotten so bad it’s become a bigger issue than ever before. When I used I was around plenty of white people and plenty people of color. That is one thing about drugs though, it doesn’t care what color, gender, race, or religion you are. And I say that nobody of any color or descent deserves to be imprisoned just because they’re suffering from addiction.

    I have every sympathy for those affected by addiction, but I find it very difficult to find empathy for addicts who have multiple children who inevitably end up in the foster care system. It perpetuates he cycle, and it gives children huge abandonment issues and trauma that leads to addiction or highly dysfunctional lifestyle. Living a life as a heroin addict on the streets is bad enough for yourself but a couple of heroin addicts on the streets with 3 children is something I don't really understand. Children deserve better and they deserve parents who are able to try their best for them. My Grandma was born on the cusp of WW2 into a minority group in lower Austria. She grew up in dire poverty with an alcoholic father. To this day she maintains a belief that I have taken on that is that children do not ask to be born and parents need to do the best they can within circumstances to provide for them and care for them. Drugs prevent parents from being parents and it is deeply selfish to give birth to children when you cannot provide for them. Having said that, within the relative chaos of drug addicts lifestyles, you can hardly expect them to consistently use contraception or any kind of family planning technique. More needs to be done.
