- There are lots of questions about the Light Bulb Camera. I try to show how to connect the camera to the App and also connect to the WIFI. This video will also show how to reset the Camera and re-establish the connection. I think I have covers some important information about the Camera operation.

Please don't take this the wrong way I'm older too but it's refreshing and very cool to see someone closer to my age be tech savvy that's first and foremost. @@AlabamaGrannyKnows It sound like you have 5g wifi service and the camera requires 2.4G. This means you can not use the camera, you need to find a wifi 5g type camera. When you select cameras and other devices in the future, look for the wifi type required to operate before purchasing.

When I ordered it, the advertisement said it was compatible with the 5G, but once it got delivered, it told me ....of course....it wasn't, however that it could be switched over? And of course I have no idea on how to do that. So at this point, I am going to take an old Smart phone and download the Alfred app and use it as a security camera this way.

Thank you very much for such detailed explanation. This is my first time using the lightbulb camera and I must say that it wasn't easy. I'm already using security cameras in my house and apartment but this is a different setup. You made it a whole lot easier to figure it out.

Thanks so much Sam. Your detailed explanation helped a bunch. Had similar trouble with the password. I changed it several times. But finally went back to the router password printed right on the router. I used your video and the printed document included with the camera. I reviewed the videos made by the manufacturer( mine was Jennov). Shall I say that some things were lost in translation. However I applaud their tech support. They never gave up on getting me hooked up.

I just bought this camera, arriving tomorrow. The one star comments say software is full of ads and must subscribe to view more than 10 seconds of video. Some also say that the camera locks up after the Amazon return window closes. You give me hope that this might actually work.

Yes, I too appreciate your detailed show and tell. First thanks for showing the lightbulb cams can be used upside down which would be necessary in my case. That would allow me to use one in my porch light fixture. That solves the problem of powering the camera. But takes away my porchlight. BTW when using these cams in the motion detector mode, do they light up the area at the same time? Thanks
The camera does have a light that can be controlled thru the app. It is not really a good source lighting.

Your video is very helpful. I’ve had 4 connected for 12 months. but I was only paying for one camera the other 3 had. memory cards in them SD card so I went to the app one time and it would not work and I cannot scan them. It keeps telling me connecting to Wi-Fi as soon as the little blue circle goes around as you show it says not connecting to Wi-Fi. Cannot find password but I tap on it each time. I believe the company is making it so after 12 months or so you have to pay prescription to reuse them, if you throw the box out it shouldn’t matter because on mine on the side it has the QR code on the camera itself still trying to set them up correct Wi-Fi connection but it’s telling me it’s not you should buy another camera and I could almost guarantee that it won’t be able to load up on your Wi-Fi because the catch is they want you to pay after 12 months like I said I own four of them. I knew how to set them up just as good as you have. You’ve done a fantastic job on showing people how they work, unless I am forgetting something but this is why I watched your great demonstration which was very helpful thanks again
Question, I don't have a users manual with mine. And it doesn't look like there's a power cord for it, I think mine powers up when I screw it into a light socket. It has a memory card slot and reset button and that's it. So I'm hoping wherever you go to download the software or app, that the settings are there??

@mhon6159 look at the File type for the video, if it is .264 you will need the VLC Player to play the video. Most video are MP4 file type. Just download the VLC Player. It is free. You can also convert the file type using a video converter.

I just watched your vid on the Bulb Camera. Not sure if the one I just purchased off Amazon is a newer model or older as the screen & tools are a bit different along with the plug in. My Question[s] however. Is there a way & how does one. Delete the recorded events? I have 96 and counting. All say Screen Change with different times.
Remove the memory card from the Lightbulb Camera , put it in the computer and you can delete the video or picture files.

There is no charging needed. The power from light socket is there all the time.

Yes, you can add another camera to the app. Just select add camera and go through the setup procedure. After you add the second camera, you will see a selection for two cameras, just can only select one at a time.

You have noticed that in motion detection and tracking the camera only does pan, but no tilt. In manual PTZ mode you can do pan & tilt.
Hi Sam, your video is great, just need to confirm 1 thing, if I use the SD card and the camera detected motion, will it record automatically and stored it in the sd card? Will I be able to watch the recording through the app anytime without having to take out the sd card to watch it on my pc/laptop?
I guess I’m trying to figure out if someone steal the sd card or the camera will I still have the recording on the app?

If you loose your mem card you losse your video. You would need to subscribe to the cloud service offered by the camera people. Then your video is all stored in the cloud and you have it anytime you want even if they steal the camera.

I can't get my Sightbulb to record at a specific time using the app. I have tried several times to do this by setting the start and stop time settings, then saving, but it doesn't work for me. I have looked online and can find no information on trouble shooting this. Can you help me?
Sorry, I have not programmed timing feature. I set it to record all the time. Best way to use the camera. Don’t miss anything.

Hello Please answer this question..In my house sometimes the power goes off then comes back after some minutes..Will the camera turn itself on if the power comes back or i have to go there and turn it on?

Your information is new to me and much appreciated. As I just got the camera I need help to figure out how to insert the Memory Card. It doesn't seem to want to go in. Please advise!
@user-rk8em9dn3y The memory card needs to be guided in very carefully. It can miss the slot for connection and go into the side and drop into the housing. Just take the card, and I think I show the direction to place card in the video. If it does not want to go, you need to turn it over and guide it in carefully, it should hit a point that you feel the spring action. Now, one more point, the slot is off to the side of the round mount and the memory card will stick up higher on one side when it is installed. Sorry, they did this, but it requires some careful action to not install into the side slot and loose the card in the housing. You can do it now with these cautions. Just let me know if you still have problems. Any tips when the bulb camera will not respond the the Q mark code? I tried both a new and 5 year old cell phone with no luck. I am using the same app you use. I think the box the camera came in might be slightly different but other than that the camera looks identical.
@n1kkri you can not go by the looks of camera. You need to know the correct app for the camera. You need the user guide for the camera. You might search internet with model number. Find the right app.

@jparker5025 Yes, and you have to go to settings and play with the sensitivity setting for motion detection. If there is a tree branch or other item moving in the view of the cam, it thinks it is a person. Put setting on highest level for detection and you may get more real notifications.

@billking698 thanks for your nice comment to me. I understand the challenges for folks that do not have a strong basic for this new age of computers. You and others like you are who I direct video with a lot of detail as possible. You do need a memory card to store the video you capture. I would use a 64Gig memory card the little micro SD. Now the best way to view the video is to remove the card and place it in the card reader of your Lap Top or PC. Then you can view the video on a big screen. You can watch video on the card through the app, but it is small and can be timely. If you are not familiar with working with memory cards and viewing, get someone you know that can help and ask them to put the video in a playlist for the video player and it will be a nice way to look at the video. You you search my RUclips channel, I believe I have a video that demonstrates the process. Just search for it. Good Luck.

I have it and I love it but only issue is I can only watch it over my phone and one phone at that when I log into another phone it logs me out the other phone. But ok so on to the real issue is there a way I can watch my lightbulb camera on my tv and phone at the same time.
@bnb3g hi, thanks for your question. Yes you can watch the video display that appears on you smart phone. Use the Screen Mirroring feature on your Smart Phone. Wipe down from the right top side of the screen. You will see the icon. Two rectangles at an angle to each other. I have a Samsung 4 series TV and when I use the feature, I see a full display on my TV. It is cool and you can view anything on your phone that way. I have an Iphone 15. Don't know if this works with all smart phones. Check it out. Good Luck, it is just what you need for your needs.
@@samowens44 I guess I should’ve been more specific but thanks I alrdy knew about that option which is nice if your not using your phone guess I’ll have to get and ipad and use it so I can have it connected to my tv at all times when I’m home and just use the phone app when I’m not at home to see the tv.

@jeanchaff7447 you just screw the base into any light socket. You will have to reset camera to factory settings before you can use it. If the people that owned it and connected to the app, you will have to reset camera back to factory settings. You must not have a user manual. Good luck, I can not help you, too much to teach about apps sign up and all that takes to get the camera to work with “just the camera”. For the future, anything you buy that connects to an app needs a user manual to tell you how to set the camera up. Do not ever by a camera of any kind without a user manual. No one can help you.

The Light Bulb Camera only supports 2.4 wifi. All Wifi now is at least 2.4 with 5 as an option when available. That is selected at your WiFi router. If you have it set to 5G, the lightbulb camera will not work.
Does the light need be on all time
@rname369 look in the settings carefully, all headings and you will find the light control. You can turn it on or off.
And what is your camera type? Mine doesn't even have a name on the camera so I'm at a disadvantage there. It looks just like yours though. So I need to know what the app is that you downloaded

@@marywatson8133 No, you can not just use any app. You have to know what app your camera uses. without the instruction manual, it may be hard to find. All the instructions in the user manual for your camera are "NECESSARY" to set up and operate your camera. It is best to buy a new camera and save those instruction, so you can use them again if you need to reset the camera.
i just hooked mine up from watching your utube and thank you so much, but its upside down i watched one of your other videosand u had like a C next tothe thing up top that for settings to change yours but i dont have that C thingy!!! so its recording everything upside down
@nanaof9412 you will find the setting to turn video around in the settings section of app. Just look at the list, it is near the beginning. I have several videos dealing with the Light Bulb camera.

I just got my lightbulb camera and it's working great. The only problem is that there is no way to talk to the person outside. I can hear what's going on, but can't talk from my tablet through the camera. There is no microphone symbol on my tablet's screen.
You have to push the microphone button to talk.
By giving access of our camera to this application, what exact access are we giving them? Does this mean someone else can monitor the videos? Thank you
@ag3623 well it is simple, you must give the app access to you photos and video, mic and sound to operate. For someone to watch your stuff, they would have to be able to get your sign in and password. I don't think hackers are interested in spending the time to do this for a home camera. Just enjoy your camera, hackers want big companies where they can make money.

Search on Amazon for light bulb camera. There are many to choose from. Compare features of some and make a decision. They all operate basically the same.
Hi Sam, I getting an offline message when we plug in to the light fixture. Please advise on how to get past that.
You are leaving out a lot of information needed to help you. I am not sure of an answer. Offline means the camera is not connected to a WiFi signal. The camera must be set up with the app. You have to first download the app and follow the screen set procedure.

@kialavonne370 first the camera can only work screwed into a light socket with power on it. For ease a lamp with the shade removed will work. The second thing you ask about viewing camera live feed and other apps on your phone. You can only work with one app at a time. So when you view the camera video, you are viewing it through the camera app. Hope this helps your understanding. Oh one more thing. When you mount the camera with bulb up, the video will be upside down. Go to the settings and there is a setting to switch the video upright. Look at all settings to find it.

@cheriestern5822 To allow more people to view your camera, there is a feature called Sharing. You would need the person that wants to connect to your camera download the app. Then you would need to go through the procedure of entering the persons email into your sharing section of setup. You need to read the manual on sharing and follow the setup. It is too hard to explain in this comment.

The camera is not waterproof, so, it must be mounted in a dry location.

The power setup I used was to demonstrate. You can screw the bulb camera into any light socket. Even a lamp.

Mine will not notify me when there is activity. I can only go into the app and click on the camera to view it. Can you explain how to get a notification on your phone when there is activity?
@ephesienjeudy6354 on your cell phone click on the Settings icon, gear symbol. Go down to the Apps section look for app Yi Lot and click on it. Click on notifications and then allow all.

Can you clear the card and start recording over again
@sea-zo8ko Yes, you can format the card through your app and delete all the photos and video recorder easily. Just go to the settings and find format section. Or, you can remove the card, place it in the card reader adapter and put into the card reader of your PC. You can then delete the card contents and put it back in the machine. There is no need, as the camera records over the oldest video or photos. So you can just keep on recording and you will have the latest video within the scope of the size of you memory card. Good Luck.
How do I make the motion sensor
You look for the gear icon for settings. Just lo at each item and open up. It will be under one of them.
Can it work on 12v?
It only works on a/c voltage.
You need look at the user manual for the correct app.

Ok, now please answer honestly. I live in a RV park and we have free WiFi. They give me a password to use so I could log in to use the WiFi. Will that work to use on this camera.
Should be fine as long as the signal is good enough for your camera.

Turn off WiFi for Camera and it will record, but you can not move the camera. You can move by hand only then.

It was hard to set up. Then when on the wifi ,my video was fading ,it gave me green screen on the recordings. Then video fade away
Sorry I don’t know the answer to your problem. Sounds like camera ha a problem.
How do you turn it on
Well that requires a lot more information, but I will start with download the app and follow setup in user manual that comes with the camera. When you get it connected to the app and to your WiFi, it should all be working. Your smartphone has to be on the same WiFi as the camera for the initial setup. Smartphone can not be on cellular service. That is how you turn it on.

You need to make sure the location of camera is getting a strong enough signal. Move close to WiFi router and see if it works good. If it does your location is too far or too many obstacles.

@sergiopasapera7247 Sounds like you need to delete, well it is easy. Take the card out of the Bulb Cam. Put the card into your computer slot for mem card. You will need an adapter for the micro card, all micro SD cards come with one. Now once in computer go to your File explorer, if you do not know how to do that, right click on the windows icon at bottom of screen and you will see it in the list. Click on it. Go down list until you find This PC Click on This PC. You will see one of the appearances as SDxc Click on SDxc, that will be your memory card you plugged in. It sounds like you want to erase all recordings. To do that, go to the right side of the upper tool bar, click on the 3 dots. In the menu, click Format. This will erase everything on the card and prepare it to be used in your Bulb Cam as a new mem card. Let me know if this is not clear, good luck.

I’m finding that you don’t have the same settings in the camera as I do even though is the same boxing. Mine is not turning 360 not sure why. Also do I have to setup hotspot?
It's been said,, after using the Lightbulb Camera APP in time they will Shut OFF the APP unless you make monthly payments to use the APP.
I hear it is very expensive to continue to use the APP!
