@@TheDolphinTuna Your friend is absolutely right. It was a decision that at the very least outlined that Disney didn't value the body of work that surrounded the franchise, and only exclusively saw the value in making a sequel trilogy. The main reason why they decanonized so much content was because when they bought the property they wanted absolute control over it, with minimum creative barriers. Much of the Expanded Universe took place after the original Trilogy, and Disney wanted free reign to do whatever they wanted with the sequels. In hindsight it's maddening that they went to that much trouble, only to not actually have a consistent roadmap for the sequel trilogy. Disney gutted Lucasarts after the buyout, and by 2015 had pretty much gotten rid of everyone who had been involved creatively beforehand. Writers, artists, game developers, by the time Force Awakens was released they were all let go. And even then, the stuff that did get released between the buyout and 2015, you can tell a lot of it was limited creatively. For example: they started releasing a new line of comics taking place in the obscure Legacy Era (the final era of the Star Wars timeline)? And then Disney canceled it in 2015, because they didn't want to release anything that would potentially conflict with the sequel trilogy. The story never really got developed by the time it was canceled, and when it was being made you could tell it had heavy restrictions put on it creatively. The whole Disney machine surrounding Star Wars didn't make any sense.
@@TannerLindberg Not really. It's moreso acceptance that Star Wars is dead, but with an appreciation for what was good. The Disney canon doesn't matter, and nobody who genuinely loves the franchise acts like it does. You can't love Star Wars and accept Episode 9 being canon over something like Star Wars Bounty Hunter 2002.
to be fair, Ubu Badingding is one of the best Star Wars characters of all time. Can't wait for the eventual Disney+ series that retcons his story into the ground.
Maybe Emp has lost it completely god damn. I don't like disney star wars at all really (or TCW) but you can still enjoy legacy content without feeling like the entire thing's soured.
As someone who likes the prequels, 90's novels, and reading random Wookiepedia articles, your thoughts on Star Wars are completely valid and justified. Its silly for people to expect you to keep engaging with a series that has burned you and many others this badly. I'll happily admit I have strong childhood nostalgia for the prequels, they are objectively worse than the original trilogy. There's no SW media in the world that can fix TFA, TLJ and TRoS. Not the Thrawn books, not Clone Wars. People don't understand that divorcing from Star Wars, especially now, is completely justified, regardless of what supplementary content is released. Even if Andor or any other media is good, it doesn't make the DT any less putrid. My divorce with Star Wars applies only to the Disney content, but acting like that makes me "better" than you or anyone else is idiotic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, I got a chuckle out of the dog barking example. Hopefully this comment doesn't make me one of them too, heh.
I just wish wookiepeedia wasn’t so pozzed. Admiral Pellaeon’s pronouns are listed even though in all 30 something of the Star Wars books I’ve read, they’ve never even mentioned Homo shit, not to mention freakazoid genderbend pronoun shit. As far as I’m concerned, the Star Wars universe is actually a utopia where gayness has been cured lmfao, or at least I’ve never had that contradicted by in-universe sources (in before obscure comics are brought up).
Dude you need to read the book where Uubuu ba dingding teams up with glup shitto taking on darth jar jar! it seriously changes the way how we view the sequels, I highly recommend it!
I fully understand why you're done with Star Wars as a whole. Disney ruined the franchise for me and I just can't look at the brand the same again. I'm obviously still going to look at the Original Trilogy in a good light but as far as I'm concerned, those were the only films in the series. To me, the Star Wars story ended when the Rebels defeated the Empire and blew up the second Death Star.
Man, you should really consider revisiting the EU books. Because there are some great stories there about Luke and co dealing with Imperial warlords, forming the New Republic and building a new Jedi Order that is less uptight.
What’s your opinion of the Clone Wars, and the prequel trilogy of Star Wars if you don’t mind me asking. You said Disney ruined it for you, and those aren’t the original trilogy, but they are also before Disney was involved I believe.
I fully understand SW being dead to you, especially after the last 10 years of Disney's stranglehold. It's unrealistic to expect supplementary material to improve the quality of the films - and even if it did, it reflects poorly on the writers' skills. With that being said, I will continue to enjoy pockets of SW media, (the OT, Darth Bane Trilogy, etc.) in spite of Disney and the Consoomers... They will never be able to reach those heights, ever.
I grew up with the shows, comics and video games. That was more of my Star Wars growing up compared to the films. Of course the OT films were my introduction like everyone has but I’m not going back to them every few months. I enjoy them but I don’t go back to them like most people. I just prefer the non film material more, I enjoy the writing in them more. Maybe because I’m jaded but I have no hope for the live action stuff because nobody can agree on what’s good, my cynicism has corroded me to my core. I don’t agree with Emp but that could be because we have different outlooks when it comes to Star Wars. Simultaneously I also like having variety in my life outside of Star Wars, there are so many things out there that making one franchise your personality pathetic.
1. There's nothing wrong with Emplemon not wanting to engage with the Star Wars IP anymore now that it's a dead franchise. 2. While it's true that the films were the heart, the baseplate of Star Wars. The reason why the work surrounding it was called "The Expanded Universe". It created depth where there wasn't any. It made the universe feel alive and interactable. It's true that the films are simplistic and palatable to normies. But it's equally valid to value the work that came out of the franchise prior to it's death. 3. There *are* critically acclaimed Star Wars games, books, and comics. But it's understandable that normies wouldn't know about them or find interest in them.
@@TannerLindberg There's no "story" within the Disney canon for the expanded universe to not have a bearing on. The Disney universe doesn't have a story. It doesn't have a mythos. It doesn't have care or effort put into it. There is no "story" to bare on. Like honestly the only reason why you would care about the expanded universe being decanonized would be if you for some reason *cared* about what Disney was producing. Which I don't see why you would unless you were a normie just keeping up with the franchise because it's "NEW!!!" and "CURRENT!!!" Really the normie fans were what killed Star Wars in 2012, and now they're what is keeping it in zombified purgatory. Caring about Disney canon and following the newest films and shows is *sad*.
I'm in the same boat man. I used to love star wars as a kid, and it was always fun to keep up with as an adult. Then it's "downward spiral" slowly sucked away my joy.
You do know you can still enjoy something that's flawed, right? Like, even the prequel trilogy has its merits despite its flaws. Literally the only part of Star Wars that's 100% unsalvagable is the sequel trilogy. Beyond the OT, you can still enjoy The Clone Wars, the novels, the comics, Knights of the Old Republic (and the MMO), the Battlefront games, Fallen Order & Force Unleashed 1 & 2, Lego Star Wars, etc. You just gotta be willing to try stuff beyond the films. Like, Knights of the Old Republic especially is arguably better than the OT. The writing in those games is just that good, though that's to be expected from the guys that later made Mass Effect before that series went to shit. Granted, its still fine for someone to not want to associate with this series simply because the Sequel Trilogy was that bad. That's a perfectly valid emotional response. Though I don't think they'd care that much if deep down they didn't love this series.
This is why I love your content EmpLemon, you don't give a crap about anyone's opinion, you stick to your guns, you are not afraid to express your own opinion, and you don't care who likes it or dislikes it. You make content you enjoy and or feel like making, and that's what matters most. I don't even agree with everything you say, but I find it always entertaining to watch and you always make good points. Anyway, the real question of Star Wars shouldn't be "why is Disney so bad at making Star Wars" and should be "why is the Yoda species green?" 😉
Emp, curious on your take regarding the Last of Us? Your arguments on Star Wars are the same way I've felt about Naughty Dog ever since Last of Us 2 was released.
Based. It's better to just accept that it's over and move on to things you actually enjoy than to be stuck in limbo hoping something changes with SW and makes it magically good.

I hear you emp. Sitting in the theater to watch TLJ I could feel my heart sinking right from the start. That horrible sequence where the rebel pilot is crank calling the bridge of the bad guys battleship basically set the tone for the rest of the film. Haven't touched any Disney SW media since
I wish the writers used for the follow-ups to the last jedi were new inspired writers and not half dead Botox ridden puppets that think that if they repeat the same patterns the same way for all eternity it's going to make us forget that it's all recycled characters and set pieces. Emp you've struck gold I'm glad someone's finally addressing the issues in an honest way.
That is completely understandable. Even though I wasn't able to watch all of the shows due to college (because I do confess that I am a Star Wars fan even though I don't push people to watch/read/consume x product), I acknowledge that there is the expectation or this supposed "need" to consume products from the production companies, which is even encouraged by the fans. One imaginary example I could give is the MCU where I watch occasional movies because my older sister is a HUGE Marvel fan, but Marvel has produced way too many shows and expects viewers to watch them all. If it's anyone to blame, it will always be the writers of the films that screw things up while running out of ideas.
Not a Star Wars fan, but one of my biggest interests is sci-fi/fantasy books, so I hope I can provide some context to your point about never hearing any non Star Wars fans praise SW books at around 18:15 1. Yes, following the discussion of science-fiction I have always received the impression that the Thrawn trilogy has been generally well-respected on its own merits. I haven't read it, so I can't give my opinion, but I probably will one day. 2. Not hearing general praise for them isn't actually remarkable. SFF novels is a pretty niche hobby, unless you hit the levels of Rowling or Martin you could be one of the biggest authors in the genre selling millions of books, winning awards, whatever and still most people in the general public won't know your name. The latter point isn't a complaint, part of me would rather my hobby stay niche so I don't have to see Hollywood take a massive dump over my favorite stories. All this is not saying you should read the books, I haven't even done that. It's perfectly reasonable to judge the health of a film franchise on the quality of its films.
While not books, i've seen and heard plenty of non-star wars fans praise and explore star wars videogames. LEGO Star Wars, Force Unleashed, Republic Commando, Battlefront, KOTOR, most of them came out in the 2000's, when the prequels were being shat into our mouths. I've seen dozens of people praising these videogames across all walks of life, professionals and hobbyists alike. KOTOR in particular is lumped into a lot of people's "best games" or "best of its genre" lists. And half of these people don't give a singular shit about the movies. Of course this is a moot point, as the gaming side of the franchise hasn't been able to truly stretch its wings since EA was given the rights in 2013 and proceeded to do nothing with them. Definite sign the franchise is dying when even the extended media is going nowhere. Still, pretending that the side pieces can't stand on their own if the main attraction is awful is just naive. In the prequel era it was the extended media carrying the weight of the franchise's reputation, not the movies. Of course sales and majority attention is still squarely on the main attraction, but acting like nobody got sucked into the franchise through this extra stuff is simply wrong, in fact the games are how I gave a shit about Star Wars in the first place. Before I had even consumed any of the movies, Star Wars Battlefront 2 held my 6 year old attention like nothing else. Despite the prequels being bad, the franchise survived long enough for the sequels to kneecap them somehow. This is why.
I mean, the prequels have their merits (they're fantastic compared to the sequel trilogy). I'd argue that Revenge of the Sith has about the same quality as Return of the Jedi, and i've seen people defend both Episodes 1 and 2. The only real problem with those films objectively at the end of the day was really the character writing and stilted performances, but at least the plot was still somewhat solid. Everything else (the heavy use of CGI and all that) is really subjective. That stuff can pull someone out of a film, sure, but it doesn't pull everyone out of it. Again though, its fine to like or dislike the prequels. Hell, its fine even to have a preference for the prequels or OT despite their objective quality. The fact that even has to be said is kinda asinine.
I don't know about you guys, but whenever Emp gets up close to the GoPro while he's really mad, I always get this feeling he's gonna reach through my laptop screen and strangle me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
as somebody who is still enjoying the zombified franchise like a very voracious maggot, i respect you for admitting you dont enjoy it anymore. so many fans dont have the balls to admit it to themselves at all, subjecting themselves to further suffering and increasingly delusional coping. at some point you either have to beat the infection or cut the limb off.
This is the 567 millionth time anyone has ever ranted about the sequel trilogy, dude are you genuinely ok? I think the internet has finally gotten to you.

In terms of Star Wars, I didn’t understand what Emp was talking about for quite a while. I’ve only gotten more into Star Wars over time, as I wasn’t able to appreciate much of the series growing up, and the supplemental material has been the best SW content for quite some time. The idea of the Rise of Skywalker ruining all of SW seemed silly of Emp in my opinion. Until, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach came out. That game ruined FNaF for me. I’ll always be able to respect the classics to Ultimate Custom Night, but man, FNaF legitimately just doesn’t interest me anymore. I have no desire to even play any of the new games. The lore is now an irredeemable retconned shitshow, and the games aren’t even scary anymore. Security Breach ruined FNaF for me. And so, with that in mind, I can better understand how Emp feels about Rise of Skywalker. For someone invested in SW, yeah, the film could ruin all interest left in someone already dejected, just like what Security Breach did to FNaF for me.
got to love how when they gave Star Wars to some Japanese anime studios to do an Animatrix, the Japanese did it better. Shows you how much, or I guess I should say, how little Lucasfilms and Disney gives a shit about Star Wars. Western media is dead, and corporatocracy and low intelligence consumers killed it.
"But KotOR 2 and Andor and clone wars, right?" Y'all telling me this broken clock is right maybe once every 30 years and we won't know which medium? I'm sure there's a good Star Wars book series out there, but it ain't Game of Thrones, wasn't heralded as THE next piece to adapt. Char1ot has vids on how they're (books) still inspiring modern SW. As a Korra fan, I'm very sure that series is still in the shadow of ATLA. The whole franchise is in Aang's shadow now. I do like supplemental books and expansions, but having read them, the Avatar books aren't much for general comic readers or uniquely exploring sequential combat. Glad they're out there though. Pretty low expectations for Avatar studios, would love to be wrong here.
Ok but seriously you should read the books, they’re really well written and oob oob transition into a strong fighter is really impactful and it kinda brings back what was so special about the earlier films..he remind me a lot of luke and I just think you’d like it too
Look I never got into Star Wars but I’m really into star track and I’m just happy that I don’t have to deal with but I do know how it feels to see a franchise you love falling apart
I haven't been back to the theaters since episode 7 given my extreme disappointment with that trash. Not only is Star Wars dead, but its as if the entire 21st century cinema experience is in the dumpster.
Ngl getting into better sci fi like Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, and Dune made me realize how childish and bad star wars is. I did not enjoy the sequels and I don't think I've enjoyed anything Star Wars related since 2020.
@@Ambivalence18 great! Now when you're done the series, you're gonna wanna watch the movies "Death and Rebirth" and "End of Evangelion" in that order. You'll have a lot of questions regarding what the hell you just watched. Be sure to watch the video "Evangelion Explained in 7 MINUTES!!!" By Evangelion Analysis Project. Or just take it slowly or not watch anymore if you want. Watching your favorite media shouldn't feel like a chore.
I’ve never seen Emp this angry, I also don’t have twitter so I don’t know the amount of insane tweets he got from frothing at the mouth Star Wars fans but damn it must’ve been an avalanche to get him this pissed off.
At this point, all they have left are the type of fans who will automatically "like" any pile of of sh*t with the logo on it (which it turns out there's really not a whole lot of even though Disney thought that's what we ALL were), or the "activist" types who support all the BS, many of who probably only watch clips online rather than sitting to watch full episodes the shows. I'll remember it as it once was and go through Eps I through VI once a year.
People like to talk about the rage of Emps being over the top for such a trivial thing like movies. But if they ruined Back to the Future with horrific prequals and sequels my rage would not only match but exceed that of Emps. These movies matter to people, and should be treated as such.
Emp, Its fine if you don't want to watch, read, play, or have anything to do with Star Wars anymore. You're right in the fact that the main content of the series (the movies and shows) is a pretty mixed bag in terms of quality that's often mediocre on average. People are just trying to share their enjoyment of the series with other people just as much as you're wanting to express your reasons for your distaste with the series, and I guess they just feel empathetic or something that you're not enjoying the series anymore. I think that's a perfectly normal reaction for someone to have, even if its honestly unreasonable given that these people don't even know you. As for the commenter remark, its worth noting that people online also tend to get pretty defensive about certain stuff and want to make sure the things they like are being represented accurately because a lot of reviewers and video essayists online have a habit of projecting their views and opinions on a series as statements of facts (hence the whole swath of people who are going "the prequels aren't that bad" or "just watch the Clone Wars or play KOTOR or yada yada yada" in defense of the series quality). This is something that MauLer talked to you about on SOTY when you guys had him on there. Channels like Cynical Reviews will literally tell you that you're watching movies wrong, so I don't think its that insane for people to be this defensive since there's so many hacks in the video essay scene. None of that is really your fault either, that's just the overall ecosystem as a whole right now You're in the same space as channels like Hbomberguy and Quinton Reviews, so do keep that in mind. Some commenters are going to have knee jerk reactions to this sorta shit sometimes, myself included, regardless of whether or not its reasonable for them to do so because the current video essayist space has conditioned them to behave this way (that's not to say there shouldn't be some accountability for peoples' behavior on the internet if they're being an asshole about it, but regardless). I just wouldn't take it that personally, which admittedly can be hard to do sometimes. I think its normal for people to often get emotionally invested in this shit. Its taken me years to try and rewire my brain that way so that I can try to divorce my feelings about something from any sort of critical analysis of it. Like, i love Dark Souls 2 and what that game was trying to do with its story (which admittedly wasn't that different from DS1's story but I hadn't played DS1 back then), but the game's a 6.5/10 at best objectively due to all its glaring flaws. I still love it since its my first Dark Souls game. Same with Fallout 3, Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2 or DBZ Budokai 2. How we feel about something doesn't affect the objective quality and execution of it, and likewise, its perfectly valid for someone to like an incredibly flawed work or for someone to hate something that was made with a lot of work and craftsmanship. I don't like the movie Parasite, but that doesn't automatically make the film shit. I also don't like the sequel trilogy, although my reasons for not liking it are supported by the film's objective quality. Though at the same time, someone could like the sequel trilogy ironically or maybe they just really like Adam Driver or some shit. Like, I'd be kidding myself if i said I didn't pick up NieR: Automata because I thought the android with the short shirt and blindfold looked cute. The incredible deconstruction of the action RPG genre and the philosophical talking points were just a bonus at that point, and it opened me up to trying other games down the road like Pathologic 1 & 2 (which ended up making me appreciate a lot of other games as a result; I probably wouldn't have had the drive to go play and finish Fallout 1 had it not been for that experience because i've just become that jaded about video games and other media). Anyways, really enjoyed the video Emp! These rants are very entertaining to watch, and I wish we got more videos like the Jimmy Kimmel rant and the Nintendo fandom rant on the main channel.
Hardcore Star Wars fans in 2023 are the human embodiment of the Sunk Cost Fallacy. Even though logically they should just abandon the ship that’s being stripped of parts mid voyage by its corporate overlords, but instead are trying to convince themselves and others the boat is as ship shape as ever. Hearing “Star Wars isn’t good anymore” sends them into shock, since they’re forcing themselves to believe it still is
I'm going to stick to main Emplemon vids, long form and thought out. This ranting is an unfortunate insight to how immature and unsophisticated Emp is on a day to day basis. Emp is good at narratives in his deep dive vids, but going into his day to day logic is sad to listen to.
The rant on Avatar: The Way of Water titled “no I will not watch your three hour long piece of crap” is a good one. But I also largely stick to his main channel vids.
The problem I have with the entertainment industry as a whole is that EVERY company has realized they can just turn out mediocre slop, and it can turn out a profit. It’s not just entertainment anymore, either. It’s everything.
There’s this mentality (in particular in the past decade) of: “The IP itself will drive sales regardless of whatever quality it is” and for Film and TV that does lead to a less effective product in most cases. As for Star Wars, after having seen the RUclipsr Nerrel describe the three Disney films in his review of Rise of Skywalker, I think Disney wanted a trilogy, but couldn’t find anyone who had a plan for one, so they just cobbled together three films in five years that aren’t very cohesive. Whatever you think of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, I would argue that it might’ve been set up to fail due to a lack of a plan. And among game publishers, the mentality for some has become “we can have one huge successful live service game and make money off it till the end of time.” Emp did a video on why people are nostalgic for 2000’s video games. Not to argue that the 2000’s was perfect for gaming by any stretch (there’s always a lot of trash games that are forgotten about over time), but three things that people who like that generation of video game will probably tell you are: 1. The Xbox and PlayStation lines had a better variety of games on them than now (they certainly had far more games). 2. They might argue that publishers used a greater share of the IP’s they own. And 3. Not as crucial, but some people may be nostalgic for Flash games and the variety that paradigm provided. A lot of those games were cheap, small titles don’t get me wrong, but from the perspective of the consumer that was a way to get a fun small game experience for absolutely no cost. At least that’s what I think. What do you think?
The Obi-Wan show and the Ahsoka show made *me* hate Star Wars. I knew modern Star Wars was bad, but for years I fed on the false hope peddled by grifters like Doomcock. Now, it's quite clear to me that not only was my trust misplaced, but my love of Star Wars itself was misplaced. The only thing I kept watching was the Bad Batch show. And even *that* just felt kind of... cheap. Now with that show over, there's simply nothing left.
I disagree with your take on the prequels, but I respect the hell out of your opinions and your articulate ranting lol. Ia slo never really saw the appeal of the books. A comic I could possibly do, but Star Wars, as you mentioned, was always a very visual and SOUND based series, especially with John Williams being involved and the iconic sound effects. The few books I did try to read... I dunno, it was just difficult to visualize what they described.
I never bothered with the clone wars either. Since i don't consider the prequels canon, why should i? Yoda trained Anakin and Obi-Wan, NOT NOBODY qui-GONE!

Would you rather read the Star Wars books or make Frying Dory?

Ubu Badingding is one of the most characters ever!

And I love every second of it 😂
so this is the guy that i heard screaming abt star wars in the woods the other day...
The Adventures of Ubu Bading Ding : Return of the Emperor

Ubu Badingding was fire tho 🔥
The more he angrily screams ubu badingding the more I want there to be an actual ubu badingding book.
That was probably the funniest thing from this video and this video is funny
Love that this channel has some classic emp rant material. Great to listen to.
Upu Badingding vs. Mumkey Jones vs. Rusty Cage in a triple threat match. Who would win?
I fully understand why you're done with Star Wars as a whole. Disney ruined the franchise for me and I just can't look at the brand the same again. I'm obviously still going to look at the Original Trilogy in a good light but as far as I'm concerned, those were the only films in the series. To me, the Star Wars story ended when the Rebels defeated the Empire and blew up the second Death Star.
Man, you should really consider revisiting the EU books.
Because there are some great stories there about Luke and co dealing with Imperial warlords, forming the New Republic and building a new Jedi Order that is less uptight.
wha wha wha what about the animu?? animeeeeeee. The anime good
@@EliWintercross You're exactly what Emp was ranting about in this video lol
What’s your opinion of the Clone Wars, and the prequel trilogy of Star Wars if you don’t mind me asking.
You said Disney ruined it for you, and those aren’t the original trilogy, but they are also before Disney was involved I believe.
Do you need a hug?
I fully understand SW being dead to you, especially after the last 10 years of Disney's stranglehold. It's unrealistic to expect supplementary material to improve the quality of the films - and even if it did, it reflects poorly on the writers' skills.
With that being said, I will continue to enjoy pockets of SW media, (the OT, Darth Bane Trilogy, etc.) in spite of Disney and the Consoomers... They will never be able to reach those heights, ever.
Both views are valid. That's the point that Emp is missing.
@@four-en-tee He literally says this in the video
You can enjoy star wars media but emp has been let down so bad since his favorite franchise has been dropping the ball since 99
I grew up with the shows, comics and video games.
Emp has been working on his promo skills
And thanks to Disney, that expanded the universe is no longer canon so all those comics are fake storys that have no baring on the story in any way
@@TannerLindberg There's no "story" within the Disney canon for the expanded universe to not have a bearing on. The Disney universe doesn't have a story. It doesn't have a mythos. It doesn't have care or effort put into it. There is no "story" to bare on.
Like honestly the only reason why you would care about the expanded universe being decanonized would be if you for some reason *cared* about what Disney was producing. Which I don't see why you would unless you were a normie just keeping up with the franchise because it's "NEW!!!" and "CURRENT!!!"
Really the normie fans were what killed Star Wars in 2012, and now they're what is keeping it in zombified purgatory. Caring about Disney canon and following the newest films and shows is *sad*.
there will Never Ever be another SOTY.
Nope. I can't let you go. You need to stay and read all the books.
@@four-en-tee Agreed that KOTOR could quite possibly be better than the OT. It’s personally my favorite thing to come out of the franchise.
11:15 Over reliance on CGI and yet the Phantom Menace had more practical effects than the Original Trilogy combined.
Cool story emp! So are you going to make Frying Dory soon?
He will if we keep asking him enough

I hear you emp. Sitting in the theater to watch TLJ I could feel my heart sinking right from the start. That horrible sequence where the rebel pilot is crank calling the bridge of the bad guys battleship basically set the tone for the rest of the film. Haven't touched any Disney SW media since
They ruined StarWars and they’ll ruin Indiana Jones next
Indiana Jones is already ruined :(
What about the thing?
If you ask me, DoD wasn't too horrible. Nothing on the originals, but certainly not Rise of Skywalker level bad.
Not a Star Wars fan, but one of my biggest interests is sci-fi/fantasy books, so I hope I can provide some context to your point about never hearing any non Star Wars fans praise SW books at around 18:15
Damn the spirit of Emp's YTP is too strong for today's standard.
gawd DAMN the rage here is downright PALPABLE. this is why i love this channel
Never mess with a man's franchise
The fact that even has to be said is kinda asinine.
i hope when i die emp rants about star wars over my grave
I don't know about you guys, but whenever Emp gets up close to the GoPro while he's really mad, I always get this feeling he's gonna reach through my laptop screen and strangle me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Nice of all the Biden voters to let Emp rant on their property.
the prequals were good, great even. but will not entertain watching the sequel trilogy
as somebody who is still enjoying the zombified franchise like a very voracious maggot, i respect you for admitting you dont enjoy it anymore. so many fans dont have the balls to admit it to themselves at all, subjecting themselves to further suffering and increasingly delusional coping. at some point you either have to beat the infection or cut the limb off.

I was just watching your Star Wars rant and you upload this lol

None of that is really your fault either, that's just the overall ecosystem as a whole right now
You're in the same space as channels like Hbomberguy and Quinton Reviews, so do keep that in mind.

I get you and mostly agree with you, but the last three or so years of clone wars are genuinely really great.
I feel that emplemon uses this account as something therapeutic
Random passerbys wondering who the fuck that guy is loudly ranting about Star Wars in the middle of a cemetery
I'm going to stick to main Emplemon vids, long form and thought out. This ranting is an unfortunate insight to how immature and unsophisticated Emp is on a day to day basis. Emp is good at narratives in his deep dive vids, but going into his day to day logic is sad to listen to.
His channel was more like this in say 2016-early 2018.
There’s this mentality (in particular in the past decade) of:
“The IP itself will drive sales regardless of whatever quality it is” and for Film and TV that does lead to a less effective product in most cases.
And among game publishers, the mentality for some has become “we can have one huge successful live service game and make money off it till the end of time.”
Emp did a video on why people are nostalgic for 2000’s video games.
Not to argue that the 2000’s was perfect for gaming by any stretch (there’s always a lot of trash games that are forgotten about over time), but three things that people who like that generation of video game will probably tell you are:
Good, good, let the hate flow through you!
