I think thats my favourite album of ayreon, and what a Floorgasm in 5:25...beautiful voices, I love these harmonies.Such a shame an artist like this are not recognised worldwide
I just sit down, put on my headphones, grab a refreshing cup of green tea and listen to the sounds of the universe, the sounds of the pure, untainted epicness that goes in my soul and makes me one with time and space. The minutes I do this are minutes that I'm proud of spending that way. Even if everything else in life sucks, this music is a reason enough to keep on living, damn it. So awesome...
It may sound crazy but Ayreon is one of those bands that evoke what I call cosmic nostalgia or cosmic melancholy. The first makes me imagine floating above the Earth and wonder what made me incarnate here, as I believe there is life outside Earth and reincarnation. The other makes me imagine a time when Earth as we know it is no more and appreciate all the things humanity has accomplished and feel sorry that one day it all may be destroyed or that there will be no one left to make use of it.
5:17 = One of the greatest moments in history. The way Jonas sings is great but when Floor starts and ends her two lines it becomes the most epic moment in the history of anything Arjen has done. The entire Ayreon story had been building to that one 47 second section.
I think this band has such a unique sound. It seriously warrants its own genre. That's why I created one. It's called "Progressive Spacey Techno Djent." Would you like an example of a song from this genre? Well, you're in luck. Because you're already listening to one right now! How amazing!
The singer Lotus asked about is Bob Cathly Made beautiful songs with his band MAGNUM It was a very pleasant suprise to find him on an ayreon album..it all comes together
Oh, and how could I forget VNV Nation's "Where There Is Light" about a person seeing the world from far above after her death, reminiscing her life and the feelings the "light as far as the eye can see" evokes (etc.).
@11multimedia 01011001 is binary, which translates to 89, which is the ASCII code for capital letter 'Y'. Planet Y is sort of a theme with Ayreon's recent series of albums.
@Larc360 ...I think it's a mix of machanical metal with a twist of Queensryche and David Bowie who ran into Pink Floyds' Wall and hit every brick on the way down...love it !!This music should be used for movie soundtrax...
@N3v3rEndingSt0ry Agreed man...whatever shit life throws at you... music gives you the strength to pick yourself up and get going.. and this is a good example of it
Another great release from Arjen, the Dutch Master! Floor's vocals are so powerful on this track, she is a fantastic singer. I'm not sure who the guy singer is, Jorn maybe?
i don't know about you guys, but my favorite ayreon album is the human equation. this album just doesn't "talk" to me as much. maybe im not getting the message the album is trying to convey, but i find melodies in the human equation so moving, especially with the flute and the guest performers in it.
so beautifull well said friend. and i do not think that time and space are relative. To stand the test of time shatter the hourglass. Become one with our salvation and the poison air we breathe. fairthee well carpe noctum!
I've often thought 01011001 would make a good musical production, as well as the other albums of course. Thing is, I could see such a thing becoming a technical nightmare. Just imagine how amazing and creepy and yet complicated the scenery alone would end up. But yeah, I agree with you. I'd love it if Ayreon albums were turned into musicals some day.
Well, sometimes the guest musicians and singers write bits of their own parts. But essentially, yes :D Arjen writes the vast majority of the music and comes up with the concepts and storylines himself :P
@RaiserBand In fact, progressive is "other than usual". But there are main factors that are common to progressive music in general: different measures - not only 4/4, different structure - not only A A B A, length - not between 3:30 and 4:00 mins but between 10:00 and 20:00 minutes and nowadays uncommon arrangements. That`s from my own perspective, if anyone has something to add I`d be glad to read it.
@KroxiGore07 I agree. Progressiveness is not limited to structure or measures but - especially today - arrangement solutions. And this song has plenty prog arrangment elements.
Ah, now I understand. That sounds much better :) Well, who knows... "sometimes a dream becomes reality". But still, personally, I would not have changed a thing.
@SSSavio no, it is one big storyline, the arc including the final experiment, the electric castle, the universal migrator I & II, the human equation and 01011001 :-)
[Tom Englund:] Would you prefer the pain and suffering we had? Would you prefer to be in peril, even dead? Would you prefer to live the life we've learned to dread? Would you prefer to live a mortal life instead?
well idk about you, but i think different styles of voices makes a great way to present an album because if it was just one style, it would get boring fast, plus, it is easier figure out who the characters are. my favorite part is the beginning of the song (well it's one of my favorite parts of the song)
Has anyone ever thought of this as a conversation about society? Advancing versus going back? Or better put, for or against the state? Thought it worked rather well as mirror of this idea.
Fully Agree... It is close, but the Final Experiment is the onset of the whole Ayreonaut philosophy. Arjen is a genious, but if he will figure out a coninuation to the story arc, I will go to his home, and give him athe title of the Universal Migrator... ;)
@Domzdream ayreon isn't rely a band it's more of a guy how writes awesome songs and invites people he likes to sing and play with him a lot of famous musicians have participated in his songs best example of a famous singer a Bruce from iron maiden btw the guy is Arjen Anthony Lucassen he is dutch i believe
I think thats my favourite album of ayreon, and what a Floorgasm in 5:25...beautiful voices, I love these harmonies.Such a shame an artist like this are not recognised worldwide
'Floorgasm' -- how apt! :) It is a shame indeed that $#!7 sells like crazy and Arjen has to live in the shadows...
lol I wouldn't worry bout it, he has all the freedom he wants with his art. and there's something special about finding gems like star one and ayreon.
o

Even if everything else in life sucks, this music is a reason enough to keep on living, damn it. So awesome...
the best part is "I'm losing my reason to live, the essence of life...I'm losing my pride and my joy, my will to belive"... Jorn's voice is f. amazing
That chorus is so freakin' epic... Liquid Eternity courses through our veins.
i love this album!! there's so much to it!! and all the vocals are amazing
This sounds great! It's so amazing to hear someone singing with so much passion, and the sound is unique

@4:34 that sweet, sweet transition just a prelude to release hell. Absolutely brilliant song.
The duet on 5:17 is SO POWERFUL, those voices! Amazing!
5:17 = One of the greatest moments in history. The way Jonas sings is great but when Floor starts and ends her two lines it becomes the most epic moment in the history of anything Arjen has done. The entire Ayreon story had been building to that one 47 second section.
I really like this! A friend on a different site introduced me to them... and I'm glad she did.
I think this band has such a unique sound. It seriously warrants its own genre. That's why I created one. It's called "Progressive Spacey Techno Djent." Would you like an example of a song from this genre? Well, you're in luck. Because you're already listening to one right now! How amazing!
It's a project, not really a band, so it's in it's own league.
Light Dragon20 I will take that into consideration.
It's really Avant-Garde metal because it almost defies all genres. He's a really talented guy and his team brings like 20 more different roots.
This. Is... a Gem.
the whole album is!
Play it loud and often relax and enjoy another great offering from the electric castle
16 people prefer the pain and suffering we had...
+Michael Turovskiy The other 3 prefer to be impaired or even dead...
The last 4 would prefer to live a mortal life instead...
They could make a freaking video game and use their songs as all the background music! Absolutely genius
Awesome! I have never heard metal quite like this before!
love Ayreon since 1999...
Indeed, an out-of-this-world kind of music :-D
Ayreon albums need to be turned into musicals.
Floor's performance on this song makes me numb to all that is not her voice... simply stunning!
The singer Lotus asked about is Bob Cathly Made beautiful songs with his band MAGNUM
It was a very pleasant suprise to find him on an ayreon album..it all comes together
Love Magali's voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and how could I forget VNV Nation's "Where There Is Light" about a person seeing the world from far above after her death, reminiscing her life and the feelings the "light as far as the eye can see" evokes (etc.).
The singing on this melody is ...... great ;=)
I always saw The Human Equation as a great musical film.
I actually tried writting a script for it many years ago, have no idea where that is now.
I will actually BUY this album, because iloe it so much!!
@11multimedia 01011001 is binary, which translates to 89, which is the ASCII code for capital letter 'Y'. Planet Y is sort of a theme with Ayreon's recent series of albums.
legend, this album is 2nd to final experiment - i will always beleive that was the best one =)
5:17 + is just epic... *amazed*
*shiver and goosebumps*
Ayreon itself is specific, so no surprise here)
Thanks for the tip, will check them out as well!
AWESOME i cannot say more thn tht

this song kicks asses!!! ossessive and powerful!!
wow, Jorn is already the god of vocals, plus floor is just... amazing
completely ass kicking, arjen is a master
At last.... I have found the awesome side of RUclips.
I understand what you mean.
Simply put, Ayreon makes you dream. And I'm glad to say you are not the only one) So you are not crazy at all.
I don't know about this CD, but on some of Ayreons CD's he has the main singer write the music. He just gives them hints.
You're not trapped. You always have a choice, don't ever forget that.
I think Jorn Lande and Floor Jansen should sing together more often.
They sound amazing together!
revamp sweet curse look for it
Carlos Antonio Garcia Rugero I love that song. But it's with Russell Allen, not Jorn Lande. Although they sound pretty similar
+Carlos Antonio Garcia Rugero love that song, she is such a gifted singer, Floor Janssen...
+Inbar Arieli I think he's talking about 5:15 when Jorn comes in. One of my absolute favorite songs for sure.
I get the chills about their interplay, no matter how many replays. Both are at the top of their profession (male vocalist, female vocalist).
i luv this song!!!
its simply great...
OHHHHH..... I'm in heaven....
ayreon is awesome
5:18 - Awesomeness of epic dimensions.
@Larc360 ...I think it's a mix of machanical metal with a twist of Queensryche and David Bowie who ran into Pink Floyds' Wall and hit every brick on the way down...love it !!This music should be used for movie soundtrax...
5:14 Is my favorite part of any song, EVER.
@N3v3rEndingSt0ry Agreed man...whatever shit life throws at you... music gives you the strength to pick yourself up and get going.. and this is a good example of it
best opening ever
Another great release from Arjen, the Dutch Master! Floor's vocals are so powerful on this track, she is a fantastic singer. I'm not sure who the guy singer is, Jorn maybe?

i don't know about you guys, but my favorite ayreon album is the human equation. this album just doesn't "talk" to me as much. maybe im not getting the message the album is trying to convey, but i find melodies in the human equation so moving, especially with the flute and the guest performers in it.

Everybody....Floor Jansen.
From Magnum the one and only Bob Catley!
Funny thing is I hate her in nightwish, but here; here she is more than amazing.
I've often thought 01011001 would make a good musical production, as well as the other albums of course. Thing is, I could see such a thing becoming a technical nightmare. 5:16 - 6:04 is the true definition of EPIC.
i found this through a Brony page on Facebook? Awesome
The intro vocals remind of the song Mad World so much.
@RaiserBand In fact, progressive is "other than usual". @bysnoopy54 You`re absolutely right! No matter what genre it is. The only thing that`s important is what we feel inside listening this.
man, i have`nt herd a metal song this good and truely this original in fucking age`s.... good shit man!!!
@bysnoopy54 You`re absolutely right! No matter what genre it is. The only thing that`s important is what we feel inside listening this song.
THAT WOULD BE INSANELY FUCKING AWESOME!!!!
so gooooodd
feel the tension!..
Now that's the statement I agree with :)
Did you see where he let the guy ad-lib? That was incredible. . .
You're right.
@KroxiGore07 I agree. Progressiveness is not limited to structure or measures but - especially today - arrangement solutions. And this song has plenty prog arrangment elements.
A group of kids at my school actually turned The Human Equation into one.
AHAAA space rock yes
That scream at 5:36 scared the f*ck out of me!
WOW Awaysome !!!download in 3 2 1
It also connects to the Universal Migrator...
Ah, now I understand. That sounds much better :)
Well, who knows... "sometimes a dream becomes reality".
But still, personally, I would not have changed a thing.
Vocalists & their lyrics in the description would be nice, like in some Ayreon videos on RUclips :)
i woulda killed to see that!
Ayreon albums are perfect as is, but I still think it'd be a neat idea, especially for The Human Equation.
if u r out of the earth is a space. metal yeah ^^
this band is great for movie soundtracks *wink wink*
Which is ASCII for 'Y', the planet of the alien Forever ;-)
@SSSavio no, it is one big storyline, the arc including the final experiment, the electric castle, the universal migrator I & II, the human equation and 01011001 :-)

Progressive Metal Opera! \m/ o0 \m/
Has anyone ever thought of this as a conversation about society? Advancing versus going back? Or better put, for or against the state? Thought it worked rather well as mirror of this idea.
you do realize like 90% of Ayreon albums are all one story, right?
Oh ya, I knew that. I was expounding apon the metaphorical layers of all the different songs in addition to the overall story.
Fully Agree... It is close, but the Final Experiment is the onset of the whole Ayreonaut philosophy. Arjen is a genious, but if he will figure out a coninuation to the story arc, I will go to his home, and give him athe title of the Universal Migrator... ;)
...Space Metal!
@Domzdream ayreon isn't rely a band it's more of a guy how writes awesome songs and invites people he likes to sing and play with him a lot of famous musicians have participated in his songs best example of a famous singer a Bruce from iron maiden
btw the guy is Arjen Anthony Lucassen he is dutch i believe
Im pretty sure Arjen use "Hacks" to write Songs like this one, Epic epicness...
bueno esta bueno :)
Yes, but it's a specific kind of dream. One that few other songs and bands can evoke like VNV Nation's "Further".
@Larc360
its space viking power ballad progresive metal
Agreed.
Someone is always trying to get in my pants, ayreon is awesome
@Elnono306 no Ayeron is Progressive EPICNESS!!!!
