    For all others wondering: He's had a very simple contraption attached under his skull. This mechanism vibrates at different frequencies dependent on the color detected. It doesn't allow him to hear colors anymore than I'm able to hear taste... Just that it creates a sound...
    This said, achromatopsia isn't something I've seen approached in this way... and frankly, I would advocate this approach using the trusty phone camera with headphone sub/super frequencies

    • @memd777
      @memd777 2 года назад +1

      I think his device already requires a smart phone to be in his pocket. I don't think it is possible technically that this device is performing independently. It is just serving as a camera and earphones, for processing, a processor is required, which I highly doubt it has. I am 100% sure there is a lag between his "hearing" and camera "seeing" as well. Whether he is paying a monthly fee for this still needs to be figured out.

      You are bombarded by all forms of information, including touch, sound, sight, all the time. Why don't you feel your shoes on your feet unless you think about them? Why can you hold something but in a few minutes forget it's in your hand? Your brain has learned to only give your conscious mind information that it needs at that moment. When your have an itch, your hand will go to the itchy spot without even you being aware of it, and if you have an itch and immediately something more urgent happens, like you spill your coffee, the itch will be forgotten as you take care of the spill.
      This is something we learn as babies. Their brains are learning what's important and what to filter out.

    This garden universe vibrates complete
    Some may get a sound so sweet
    Vibrations reach on up to become light
    And then through gamma, out of sight
    Between the eyes and ears there lie
    The sounds of color and the light of a sigh
    And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe
    But it's all around if we could but perceive
    To know ultra violet, infra-red and X-rays
    Beauty to find in so many ways
    Two notes of the chord, that's our full scope
    But to reach the chord is our life's hope
    And to name the chord is important to some
    So they give a word and the word is Om

    I heard the vibrations and I said “is that wall red” okay. Let’s say this does actually do what he says. How does he automatically know the vibration or frequency of specific colors instantly? Makes 0 sense

    • @blue__exx
      @blue__exx 3 года назад

      I don’t know whether he’s completely fake or not, but if you study color theory and light frequencies then you could probably figure it out. Light has a wavelength depending on color just like certain notes have wavelengths, so if you know like he said that red has the longest wavelength you could associate with the lowest note as well, so if he did his research going in then it’s not impossible

      He said as the first thing he listened to the windows logo with 4 different colors and after that asked if a wall was red - which is one of the colors on the windows logo.
      I assume he was told which color was which in the windows logo and then just... referenced that sound to the wall's sound and determined it's red.
      But yeah a whole lot of people kinda misunderstand this to be something much more miraculous, that he's somehow receiving actual colors.... When of course he's not. Just using audio to signify different colors so he can differentiate between them.

    wouldn't enchroma glasses be a lot easier on the system? Perhaps they don't work for the completely colourblind, but surely that,s the next step, for that company. . .

    • @dodoismus369
      @dodoismus369 3 года назад

      Tell me. How would you do that?
      The casual red green colorblindness works a bit differently.
      There's no way for the brain to see whole new stimuli that it have never seen before with some glasses. Yes, you could give him some glasses that may help to distinguish between various shades of grey but it will be still shades of grey for him. I could buy some glasses that will help me to "see" ultraviolet rays, but I would not be able to actually see ultraviolet rays, because my brain doesn't know how they look like.
      Maybe one day yes, with some artificial eyes, but Neil's primary goal was not to distinguish between shades or color better, but to have his own way of perceiving them.

      I have been trying to interpret colours myself to try to develop a better way to understand music. My senses were telling me red was A, B purple, C yellow (sun), D , E, F green (forest), G (blue of sky), still working out any more, no minors or anything as yet. When he says red is quiet does that translate to the sound of playing A on a guitar? To me A on guitar sounds like a bright lively chord so I give it a red colour. I'm wandering if I should learn a new way such as more in relation to colour and scientific sounds waves!?
