It took me a few seconds to recognize just where you were before you said it! Haha it was the Airbnb bus that gave it away! My husband and I own the domes in Port Wade. Your video just popped up in my 'You should Watch' list.
I was born in N.S. and lived there most of my life, then moved to Ont. for a few years. I now live in the Philippines with my filipino wife. I miss my country and my province
Hey Sean good to hear from you in. Messaged you guys last summer. We too migrated from ON. Last year, into the town of Annapolis Royal. It's been a little strange for myself as well Sean. I'm very accustomed to the Hustle&Bustle associated with Toronto and the 180km round commute I endured for the 39 years. I certainly don't miss that. We're currently renovating the inside of this beautiful building and that's kept me busy but we have yet to really settle into the town and begun to blend in. We have seen your barn on a occasion or two as we've travelled past, we'll be sure to stop in soon. Cheers.
Hey!!! You bought our farm! That one was number one on our list but you got it first. We came from southern Ontario and ended up in New Germany instead. One year in and we love it here. Agree with all you said about NS. Enjoy Frank and Dora's
I'm Nova Scotian and did the opposite 30+ years ago (live in S. Ontario). My mother is from the valley, loved it as a kid. I wonder about the locals though kind of closed knit......but certain you'll find good people eventually
Good Evening Sean and Tamara, I just wanted to extend a very tardy welcome to Nova Scotia to you both. We are born and bred Nova Scotians and we recognize it must be a huge adjustment for anyone coming from Ontario/ Quebec City life. Even our NS city would be a large adjustment. We are seniors and have watched our rural neighbourhoods get bought up by people who have very different life expectations, given their life experiences. We’re glad to hear you both have been able to adapt to our very different life style especially in the time period we have just experienced. It’s been a real life change for all of us. But change can be very positive, depending on our perspective of it. Sending you best wishes for your business and growing rural perspective.
Hi from Southern Ontario (Norfolk county). I had family move there in October 2021. I visited NS for the first time on New Years, it was a bit snowy but nice. I think I’d miss my small town too much to move but can’t wait to go back in the summer! Not excited for the 18 hour drive though.
thanks for making this video, we are looking at moving there maybe...housing market here in Vancouver Island is crazy stupid a trashy detached house is around 800k =(
Awesome video. Looking forward to the day we get out of Ontario as well and into NS. do you sell your products online? If so can you post the website here?
Thanks for this video. I was waiting or an update and I'm happy that you're adjusting well. We are looking into moving to the same area, as we want to go very rural, but I need to have a good internet connection for my job. How is the internet coverage in your area? Does it get foggy a lot in the summer being this close to the shore? And have you found a way to deal with black flies? :) Thanks again for all the info you're providing.
Thanks for the comment and sorry for the slow reply! Coverage here is great - using eastlink (100mb/s). best to check with the provides though, your particular address may have trouble. Yes it gets a big foggy but nothing too bad. it's much worse on the fundy side of the north mountain (and much cooler/windier there as well). black flies are not that bad here, most of our property is cleared. Wooded areas would be a lot worse. I just use deet-based sprays - nothing much you can do.

We’re 5 months in so far in Port Royal, right across the basin from where you are now... and we love it so far!
Have you made a video of Cornwallis........I worked there in 1955 then left for Ontario .
Very helpful, that's right around where I am looking.
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative! My gf and I are leaving Vancouver and just bought near Greenwood. This really made us feel like we are doing the right thing
How are you enjoying here in rural Nova Scotia now in summer 2024?

Thank-you, I'm thinking of selling and coming that way. Maybe a different area? I appreciate the feel for the place you gave.
