    Honestly, the scene from Kill Bill is *still* the craziest. The way they filmed that scene, the use of sound and the blades. That thing just seemed soooooooo dangerous. It’s kind of a tough scene to watch because you almost feel like you’re in danger just by watching it...

    At first I wonder why there were so many unnecessary cuts, especially when the actor, for example Jet Li knows how to use the meteor hammer. But then I realized, unlike sword or staff, you can't really slow down or stop the hit mid flight. And no matter how soft the meteor ball, at that kind of velocity, the kinetic energy it produced would probably shatter skulls and bones. There would be a massive amount of dead and injured stuntmen if they try to one-take it.

    • @Ramsey276one
      @Ramsey276one 4 года назад +19

      Good point!
      Director: can you do one take?
      Jet Li: Can you fix skull fractures?

      No realmente, en muchas artes marciales el propio cuerpo funciona como propulsor para conectar los golpes, como por ejemplo los nunchakus, en muchas formas puedes observar como utilizan su cuerpo para dirigir los movimientos(la zona segura de los nunchakus son la parte superior).
      En este caso, impacta con el cuerpo pero el acorta la distancia de la cuerda para que rebote la hoja y no sea clavado.

    1) no actress, in any genre, can outshine michelle yeoh. both on screen and off, she is the absolute best of the best. 2) i always smile during the scene you posted from kill bill, when go go gets knocked off the table and the foley artist uses bowling pin sounds.
    i used to collect kung fu, wuxia, and sword films. at one time, i had 800 titles, and i had only made a dent in what is out there to be collected. i sure hope someone out there is preserving these priceless cinematic treasures.

      The actor is Chiaki Kuriyama, not Michelle Yeoh. Also, the correct term is "actor". "Actor" is used with both sexes, as is the word "doctor" or "chiropractor". Imagine..."doctress" 🤢

      @@Nathaniel_The_Evil_One i never said the scene from kill bill had michelle yeoh. if you notice, my mention of michelle is after a designation of "1" and the part mentioning the scene from kill bill is under designation "2". lastly, your claim about the word actress is not supported by webster's dictionary. as they are , (and have long been) considered the authority on the meaning, spelling, and use of words in the english language, you may wish to make use of one before you correct someone in the future. maybe also work on reading comprehension. have a nice day 🙂

    Many of the Shaolin temple movies have rope dart sequences in them. Back in the day, this was the only place you would see this secret art form practiced. In many ways it's concerning to know that so many people are learning how to do this. There was a time when only elite and royalty were taught this sacred fighting art form. The world is a much more dangerous place because no one is kept in check anymore. I pray that all of you who practice this deadly art consider yourselves as defenders of the innocent and a weapon of God!

      I fashioned one myself, non lethal edge I think, primarily, I want to use it to improve my body's overall coordination, and many of the moves shown in these movies are the inspiration for chain knife moves in shadow fight.
      Also, as much as a respectable weapon it is, it is very difficult to tame and can be easily used against the user.

      +acidblood13 Is a neck wrap possible with a rope dart? or is that just in movies?

    • @acidblood13
      @acidblood13  8 лет назад

      +Arthur Stanley Definitely. You often see neck wraps in Rope Dart Wushu performances. The rope only wraps around the neck once, then it unwraps, either by reversing the spin direction or turning your body 180 degrees.

    • @acidblood13
      @acidblood13  8 лет назад

      +Arthur Stanley The safest and simplest neck wraps don't wrap around entirely, only halfway. It's a quick and deceptive technique that isn't dangerous to the user. The rope is held in place around the throat with one hand, but is actually entirely behind your neck.

    Beleive it or not there's actually a neat little scene near the end of the first scooby doo movie where Freddie Prinz Jr. is fighting of the bad guy's goons with a ship's block and tackle, using it like a rope dart or meteor hammer- took me totally by surprise!

    • @acidblood13
      @acidblood13  8 лет назад +2

      I had considered using that clip, but it's a bit short, and contains mostly the same moves as the scene in Stormbreaker (which basically copied the majority of it).

      Is kicking a meteor hammer possible?

    • @acidblood13
      @acidblood13  8 лет назад +3

      +Galvin Stanley
      Ow. I guess it's possible, (using the sole of your foot, plus shoes) but usually it would be safer to kick the rope close to the hammer.
      If the hammer is in motion this would create a fast rotation and return, if the hammer's at rest (or on the ground) it is easier to get your foot under the rope than under the hammer itself.
      When the hammer is on the ground another option is to stomp the rope, causing the hammer to roll onto your foot so you can quickly kick it forward.

    • @galvinstanley3235
      @galvinstanley3235 8 лет назад

      acidblood13 If you kicked the rope would you still get the same speed and power though?

    • @acidblood13

      I think so. If you use rotational inertia correctly it could possibly be even faster.

      The bad guy had some sort of short, hand-trident that he uses from behind a cape, then two extendable elbow swords? The spiked curtain at the end is just a boobytrap. It's all a bit odd and fanciful tbh. I only included that clip because of the cool sleeve dart launching and using the rope itself as a weapon.

      @acidblood13  5 месяцев назад

      @@MayankSharma-zi8um You can buy rope darts from a few online suppliers. RopeDartAcademy is one of them. The chain and curved blade from Ninja Assassin is probably the worst type of rope dart to use as the chain will hurt your hands and the blade is too difficult to aim or control.
      You might also have luck on eBay or AliExpress.
      If you want to make a dart to practice with, a sock full of beans or a dog toy on a rope is a good place to start.

    Yo.......... what are the physics behind rope darts/meteor hammers.......

    • @acidblood13
      @acidblood13  4 года назад +4

      If you want the physics:
      The centripetal forces involved allows them to be shot out faster than a human can throw, (similar to how a sling allows people to throw rocks father and harder). This is usually achieved by tightening their spun rotational circle using quick contact with a limb (particularly in foot and elbow shots). The construction of the weapons themselves mean that darts (which are usually front-heavy) are excellent at shooting out straight for piercing injuries, whereas hammers can cause bludgeoning and concussive trauma by being swung at the opponent as well as being shot out.

    • @sarausa00
      @sarausa00 4 года назад

      @@acidblood13 no cap I was genuinely curious and wasn't expecting a serious reply so I'm shook rn LOL. Thank you so much!! That's so cool though - I had a feeling about the centripetal force, but I was more curious on how it works when they wrap the rope around their bodies. I saw a couple of videos explaining how it worked but for example the Jackie Chan one really fucked me up :0

    • @acidblood13
      @acidblood13  4 года назад +3

      @@sarausa00 No problem :D
      Yeah, the trick about wrapping the body is simple: if you wrap the rope around yourself, wrap it back in the opposite direction (Jackie does this by spinning his body, rather than moving the rope).
      This means you now have a rope that is folded around you, not wrapped around you. If you hold onto the folded part (or parts, Jackie does a few folds because his rope is super long) it looks like you're tangled, but the rope isn't really wrapping you. Then when you throw the dart head and let go of the fold, it will snap out to full length because nothing is in the way of the rope.
      Sorry, difficult to explain, but easy to demonstrate. Fold a string in half, wrap it folded around your wrist, then pull on one single end, the folded loop should travel around your wrist unobstructed. It's kind of like that.
