It’s not so simple. There will always be a supply and demand on the black market. Also Spain’s squatters rights means landlords don’t want to rent long term when they can lose their property to squatters and many properties are bought up by Northern Europeans that have more money than locals on low salaries. And why is Mallorca building more hotels if there is no housing for workers?

My family and I just returned from Mallorca, after spending 10 days. We did not encounter any anti tourism sentiment at any time. We were based in Sineu, we did day trips to Alcudia, Can Picafort, Port De Pollensa, Santanyi, Cala D'Or and Palma. had a perfectly good time
Just got back from Alcudia. Felt very welcome there, even by the mosquitos 😂 no hate towards tourists whatsoever. Took a trip to Palma, same there. Everyone friendly 😊
Yo soy mallorquín y la verdad en verano todas las playas y pueblos mas carreteras están saturadas de turistas no podemos vivir en nuestra hermosa linda tranquilos 😭😭😭
As I’ve said before, the Spanish people should be venting their anger toward the politicians, local councils who approve certain things and people who are buying up properties to put on air bnb as holiday rentals and not the people who are putting money into the Spanish economy in my opinion.
I don't find your videos toxic at all! We're coming to Alcudia for 10 nights in a couple of weeks and I've watched heaps of them since I booked our holiday a few months ago. They're so informative and I'd much rather a realistic overview of where we're bringing our young family on holiday, than a sugar coated version. Your video on your nightmare Ryanair flight last year was very relevant for us as we have an evening flight booked with them and I hadn't really considered that it might be rowdy 🤦🏼♀️ At least I can prepare for the possibility now! 😂
Where ever you go whether abroad or in england you get all this that going off everywhere. Wont stop me coming majorca i luv it. I been home since mid may and i miss it.
We have just returned from cala D'or and it was great, we normally would be excited to start looking at booking next years holiday in Spain, but hearing all this bad news about what the Spanish think about British tourists I am not interested in thinking of going on holiday in Spain next year, and I doubt I will be the only one, I do think the Spanish are going to regret their actions when 2025 gets here .
Maybe protest against your MPs not paying tourists. As someone who visits twice a year every year and spends alot of money on this island I now do not not feel comfortable coming. I hope when you have driven all the tourists out you are happy with the decision.
Hi, We were going to book to go to Mallorca but went to Cyprus instead due to the present situation, what will happen if tourists start to boycott places and spend their money elsewhere ? Surely it would devistate the economy !!!!. By the way Great channel 🙂
I agree. I love Mallorca especially Polenca. We were there in May very disappointed. And we won't be back. Can't even get a sun lounger. I'm surprised the carry- on in Barcelona didn't end up in a fight. Disgusting. We in Scotland wouldn't do this to tourists, we're very civilised here. Lol. I was in the hospitality industry and was always pleasant to tourists. And even in Scotland there is a shortage of housing but we don't blame the tourists. Get a grip Spain because you won't exist without us.☹️😀👍
Ours is perfect here, no issues apart from the most expensive water in the UK, turds in the sea, brown water in the river and still boiling drinking and washing-up water. We don't know when we are well off.
Hello Alex, we have just returned home to Bath UK on 11th July after staying at hotel Comodoro on Son Maties beach for two weeks and we can say that we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Not our usual holiday time but we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. I agree with your advice about the possibility of thefts on the beaches in a previous video (this can happen anywhere) so just be aware and try to not take anything to the beach you can't do without, leave it in the hotel safe. Just another thing I would like to mention is how quick and easy the passport check and stamp is for UK tourists at Palma airport, in and out. It was very busy but It was so much better than last time we came. We hope to be back in September. Best wishes, Richard and Becky.

The more you try to put a positive spin on these issues the more it puts me off even cosidering Mallorca again Been quite a few times but think for me its had its day Even the fact that lucals are wanting less tourists is enough for me to stand by them and give them my support by not coming to their island.
I’m coming in two weeks with my daughter to Calas de majorca, hopefully we have a lovely uninterrupted holiday as I have been planning this for two years now and I’m naturally an anxious person but this news is making it worse. 😭

Watching this from Cairns in Far north Queensland Australia.I havnt been to Majorca since I was a kid but I have amazing memories of the Island. Many decades have passed since then and no doubt the island is far more developed.Nice to see the vibe is still friendly and relaxed.!
There is one problem that exists is that if you send a post card from a holiday resort in Spain it never gets posted back to the UK i have been in the Costa's quite a lot three times in the last 5 years and they never get sent to any UK destination. So don't send post cards back. Thanx Alex.
No...not acceptable. If they don't want us, I am not going. I was in Santa Ponsa last year and to be honest I will not be going back. Not a nice place to stay.

Seeing the different places in Mallorca is a great guide when looking for next years holiday. Keep up the good work Alex and I hope to bump into you when I'm in cala millor on 21st July.
I dread to think what's gonna happen this weekend between drunk british tourists and spanish locals since the Euro final is now gonna be Spain vs England.. hopefully it doesn't add more fuel to the fire in this situation
It would serve Majorca and a few other Spanish resorts right if they feel a backlash over this if tourists give them a miss for a couple of years theres plenty of cheaper better equally nice places to go . I well remember the costas almost begging us to return after Covid because they were bankrupt. Personally I’m never coming back to the Balearics
I was at the Globales Santa Lucia last week. We didn’t notice anything bad but we did notice a heavier police presence which made us feel safe. Unfortunately a lot of people won’t choose to visit Spain now for their holidays as there are many other countries that will welcome tourism
Spain and Mallorca welcome tourist's it's not about tourist's. I wish the press would report the truth, perhaps speak to the actual protesters and get their perspective on this

Most of the Hotels, bars and restaurants are Spanish owned. The issue is the greed of the Spanish owners not passing through benefits onto their own workers. Using the benefit system to lay workers off in the winter and paying them the bare minimum in the summer.
I'm mallorquin. Protests are against government and corporations not directed to the actual individual tourists. Of course I guess there's some stupid hateful people that does actually hate on the tourists, but it's certainly not a mass sentiment. Like on every conflict in life, people missing the target happens. I'm afraid British media are misinforming/exaggerating things (shocking, I know) either for click bait, either for an agenda... dunno. Still too many tourists, too much money not going into real local economy, too difficult to live a good life on your own soil. Something needs to be done asap. Not your fault, though.
Just back fro a week in a beautiful area between Soller and the Port. It was very busy in both towns with tourists and cars - parking very difficult. All bars were busy and restaurants needed to be booked. I saw no hostility towards tourists and the staff at our hotel seemed unaware of any problems. Palma was a disappointment, having visited the island about 15 times, i have never before seen the makeshift arrangement of tents and people living in cars on the outskirts and a huge number of tourists, some obviously from a cruise ship in the harbour. I will go back to Mallorca i just hope Mallorcans realise that without us, they may just struggle.....dont bite the hand that feeds you
Great Channel, we stopped off on a cruise two days ago and visited Soller via the train and spent 300 euros in total on our day stop off . Don't the protesting Spanish want our money in the local economy.
Thanks Alex, for the commentary. I would reiterate that the locals are lovely here, I’ve had no bad experiences in 2 weeks in Paguera. I do make an effort to speak the language and ensure my behaviour is appropriate. My coach passed through Magaluf at night and I have to say I was embarrassed by the behaviour of some in Magaluf

Just got back and had some not so nice customer service on a couple of occasions. Didn’t feel very welcome at all. One lady was so rude and shouted at me just for asking for some help using a machine in the casino.
Maybe she'd just had a bad day?!
Still no excuse though
@@tracyevans5639 even on a bad day you should never treat another human the way she did. I was so taken aback, astounded! It was honestly shocking!
Everyone friendly 😊
fantastic!
Thanks Alex , we’re coming to Palmanova on Sunday and your videos have been amazing to prepare- definately going to book the Olive Tree
Thanks so much - I’m glad they’ve helped !
Love watching your channel to catch up with what's going on just came back last Saturday looking to coming again soon x
Maybe protest against your MPs not paying tourists. As someone who visits twice a year every year and spends alot of money on this island I now do not not feel comfortable coming. I hope when you have driven all the tourists out you are happy with the decision.
I trust a voice on the ground, such/ as yours, Alex, over MSM clickbait
Thks for the update Alex terrible behaviour for throwing water 👍👍
Hi, We were going to book to go to Mallorca but went to Cyprus instead due to the present situation, what will happen if tourists start to boycott places and spend their money elsewhere ? Surely it would devistate the economy !!!!. By the way Great channel 🙂
@@1960JB We have done same…booked holiday in Greece..£3000 not going into Mallorcan revenue stream. Vote with your feet and walk away.
All Brits should boycott all Spanish resorts. Let’s see how bankruptcies go down for the bars and restaurants.
Get a grip Spain because you won't exist without us.☹️😀👍
@@brendamorganvery true
@@brendamorganMay is a bit early for a sun lounger. What are your other reasons not to return ?
Yes please stay home! That's exactly the point
The water and sewage infrastructure in Majorca during the Summer must be struggling a bit.
So lovely to hear this and a huge congratulations on your wedding anniversary! That’s just wonderful 🤗
I wonder if the anger towards tourists will increase once the schools have finished and lots of families are on holiday in Spain?
How would you like it if it's school holidays and the locals can't get on the beach for fighting tourists
@@Ciara.Higgins-xz9im obviously I would hate it. My ex is from Palma, so I am very familiar with the situation. He now lives in the UK because he can't afford to live in Mallorca. But, he said the island would be in trouble if it wasn't for tourism, it's just the amount that are going over.
Flight on beaches ??? There is loads of room in Magaluf and palmanova !
@@Michelle-72 thank god someone who knows what the protests are about, unaffordable living, not tourist's. Thankyou
I'm going on 22nd July to Palma Nova. Not worried in the slightest, but then again i dont watch BBC news or read the papers
Thanks Alex. The Mallorca Bulletin is just as bad if not worse.
Well said Alex , some people like to hide the truth,... but you always endeavour to tell us the facts as they happen daily. 👍
Thank you !
The more you try to put a positive spin on these issues the more it puts me off even cosidering Mallorca again Been quite a few times but think for me its had its day
Even the fact that lucals are wanting less tourists is enough for me to stand by them and give them my support by not coming to their island.
I’m coming in two weeks with my daughter to Calas de majorca, hopefully we have a lovely uninterrupted holiday as I have been planning this for two years now and I’m naturally an anxious person but this news is making it worse. 😭
Did you watch the video ? Please let me know your experience in CDM - I am sure it will be nothing but positive !
You will have a lovely time, tourist's are welcome. Please don't worry
Have a great holiday 🎉😊
We fly to Cala de Majorca on 18th July. Can’t wait don’t let this make you anxious. It’s like reading too many of those trip advisor reviews. Getting somewhere and then realising you have to take opinions with a pinch of salt. Enjoy your holiday I’m sure we will.
Watching this from Cairns in Far north Queensland Australia.I havnt been to Majorca since I was a kid but I have amazing memories of the Island. Many decades have passed since then and no doubt the island is far more developed.Nice to see the vibe is still friendly and relaxed.!
Wow! Can't believe you're watching in Cairns! I visited in the mid 1990s! Thanks so much for watching!
The diffrence between you alex and the national newspapers and main media is that you will tell the truth.
😂😂😂😂 had bad day today, if you believe her your nuts
I’m there from the 15th I just hoping to see some sunshine ☀ as the sun has been none existent in the NW of England for the past 4 months.
Don’t worry too much about going to Alcudia in October it will be mostly closed 🙈🙈🙈
There is one problem that exists is that if you send a post card from a holiday resort in Spain it never gets posted back to the UK i have been in the Costa's quite a lot three times in the last 5 years and they never get sent to any UK destination. So don't send post cards back. Thanx Alex.
Oh that’s not good at all - thanks for letting me know !
No...not acceptable. If they don't want us, I am not going. I was in Santa Ponsa last year and to be honest I will not be going back. Not a nice place to stay.
I can’t understand how you can that about Santa Ponsa. It a beautiful resort and very friendly towards tourist’s.
@@user-sw7nq3rz7i They are friendly but the place is tired, and lacking in decent restaurants. Too many groups of drunken youngsters for me. We also saw drugs being dealt, and drug deliveries to local cafe/bars to individuals sitting at tables alone. Perhaps I am just too old.
Wow that’s not good at all Steve
Your content is invaluable for us tourists especially the truth surrounding the protests. All the bad press wont do the people there any good with their campaign for responsible tourism. Seeing the different places in Mallorca is a great guide when looking for next years holiday. Keep up the good work Alex and I hope to bump into you when I'm in cala millor on 21st July.
Thanks for this info Alex. We are coming there in Magaluf this friday. Hope to bump at you 😊
I dread to think what's gonna happen this weekend between drunk british tourists and spanish locals since the Euro final is now gonna be Spain vs England.. hopefully it doesn't add more fuel to the fire in this situation
When we were over there once, I wore a Spanish football top for a Spanish game, and all the locals loved it 👏 😂
Nothing happened
I wish the press would report the truth, perhaps speak to the actual protesters and get their perspective on this
@@tracyevans5639if it's not about tourists why are their plaquards, chants and graffiti saying just this? We aren't stupid we have ears and eyes....we can see what they are doing. Maybe you should speak to those saying all that!
We left on the 27 th June.Have they sorted the sunbeds and umbrellas out in Puerto Pollenca.
They'll be crying when they ain't got jobs..... we are going to go to the counter protest. 'Tourists on Tour'!
Great video Alex thank you we are in Porto colom we arrived yesterday and it is just fabulous we are made very welcome
April I’m wishing you a lovely holiday - I’m sorry I couldn’t get out there to film but I would love you to let me know how your holiday goes !
Thanks for the update Alex . 👍☀️
Those protests mainly seem to be in Spain and Italy although Italy seems pretty much restricted to Venice and I haven't read about places like Rome and Florence having them. With Spain it seems much more widespread.
You're doing a fantastic job 🎉 you're time ,you're honesty, thank you ❤
You’re welcome !
Well done Alex telling it how it is. The only thing I get upset about is I want to be back there It’s horrible to wait another year. I know I only got back 2 weeks ago but made lovely new friendships Met this lovely lady my age showed me around Palma and ged lovely boat. Best wishes x❤
Came back from a week stay in Playa d Palma had a great time in a mainly German resort but certainly won’t be in a rush to come back as we found it much more expensive than the Canaries.
Thats why Germans are there, they have money, Brits are mostly poor.
Hello Michael here from Tipperary Ireland love you r blog
Thanks !
The UK gutter press.
I felt that in the airport that it was much more anti tourist vibes the staff where so rude especially as us being in a part with disabled
Sorry to hear this 🤗
Small minority of protesters jumping on the anti tourism band wagon. Mallorcan's wants tourist's, had a wonderful wk in June and very much looking forward to coming back for a month in September. Thanks Alex
Ive been going Alcudia for over 25 yrs love it but all i can say is they welcome you with open arms without us tourists what would they have its the tourists who go in their bars shops restaurants and spend our hard earned money i love going but i can understand
Two different things...unless you're there!
its starting to worrying me at the moment. will soon be there
If I were you, I would be a lot more worried about the uncontrolled influx of undocumented people arriving on blighty’s south coast.
We will be coming over in early October, I am definitely not worried and looking forward to it 😁
Most of the Hotels, bars and restaurants are Spanish owned. The issue is the greed of the Spanish owners not passing through benefits onto their own workers. Using the benefit system to lay workers off in the winter and paying them the bare minimum in the summer.
Thanks for another balanced report and for letting us know about the protest next week.
@@DavidMateos56 🤗
I appreciate this. Update. Be there in mid October as well
Just back fro a week in a beautiful area between Soller and the Port.
Hi Alex we land in Mallorca on the 21 of July how bad will it be trying to get out of the airport or does the protest not effect around that area
Love these videos, more protests vids pls, you explain everything very well & was in Mallorca in 2022 had great time. I will definitely come back regardless you just have to use your brain & everything will be fine. The trolls are priceless comedy 😂
They are - I’ve stopped removing the comments now! 😂
I was in Mallorca about 1.5 weeks ago.
Was nice .
Got a little busy at the weekend
But we enjoyed it....
And I hate crowds.
Last day of our 2 weeks in Cala Ferrara. Had zero anti-tourist vibe despite meeting hundreds of locals. It's not happening on any scale that will affect your stay. It's just paper talk and a minority of disgruntled people. Had a great time (except for the football!).
I do LOVE tourist they are well come for avery long time, but the mallorcan we cant live too bussy any where we go in our island not place to be quiet
😭😭😭😭😭
