John would have resided here during a portion of the yearlong period during which he and Yoko separated, around 1974-ish (to which he always referred as his "lost weekend"). He spent much of that time in LA, but he also acquired another residence in NYC, and it was very cool getting to see it here. First most of his time in NYC he and Yoko lived in the famous Dakota on Central Park West, which they purchased in 1973, and where he lived until he was assassinated 1980; after his death, Yoko would remain at the Dakota for for several decades, only moving out a couple of years ago.
@@LannieLord Apparently Yoko and John bought property at some point -- some kind of a farm -- in upstate NY, and she decided to move there. Seems weird, as she looks extremely frail, and it would seem that she would be more comfortable in the home where she's lived for nearly 50 years, but that's apparently what she did.
You missed a trick there. That was the apartment John Lennon lived in with May Pang that he referred to as his 'lost weekend'. From the terrace of the master bedroom John saw a ufo. Plenty of videos online and pictures of his explanation. Totally awe inspiring to see the actual balcony and the view of the route it took, just as he described it.
I had the same memories when I saw the video. I think that iconic photo of John wearing the New York City t-shirt might have been taken on the rooftop here too. It's from 1974.
For 4.2 million dollars, the new owners will not have only their own car but someone to drive it for them while they enjoy a glass of champagne in the back. 😎
