No adult spider, especially one the size of a Joro Spider, is capable of flying, or even ballooning. Only freshly hatched spiderlings can balloon.

They are beautiful spiders. And their web is GOLD! The silk is actually a golden yellow color. And when the sun hits the web the shimmer is spectacular. We have them here in Ga as they mentioned. But they aren't around daily. They have a season. They start in August and last into October. Before and after that you will never see one. But when they are in season, they are everywhere

PS from the sound of it, these spiders are now everywhere in the only decently cool part of the warm weather down there! October, not August, of course.

That is typically a sign of being dangerous, but there are tons of animals that use what’s called Aposematic mimicry, which is when a completely harmless animal shares similarities with a dangerous animal, in hopes of being mistaken for something dangerous. Joro spiders are not harmful, and if you do manage to get bitten, it’s just gonna sting for a bit and get a little red, unless you have a rare allergic reaction you really won’t even need medical attention.

Only ther babies move through the air and they aren't dangerous unless threatened. We're literally surrounded by spiders at all times and we only see a few here and there. While I get being concerned, chances are you won't even seen them anywhere but outside, but the more spiders you have in your home and yard, the fewer other pests. Just don't touch them and if you see one, leave it alone and you'll be fine.
    Sincerely, and Australian.
