PHILIPPINES FIRE MUMMIES! Burial Caves Of Kabayan, Benguet (Cordilleras E07)

- THEY CALL THEM FIRE MUMMIES.
The Ibaloi people of Kabayan in Benguet preserved the bodies of their ancestors, even the internal organs, using salty water, herbs, and heat.
Today I was unable to see inside the coffins, but the isolated locations of the caves are impressive!
A trip from Bauko to Benguet, with a few twists and turns!

Yep. You know it.
Did you visit the Bontoc Museum?
Hey kumander do you know anyone that does 4wd tours of this area? I would love to visit that area
@@michaelwilson7820 I've not seen any up there...
Grabe KD, pitmalo gyud ang imong vlog and I hope more viewers would watch your vlogs, especially those with historical values like this. It's kinda great that you are presenting the culture of Benguet, from the road network, the heights, the vegetable terraces and the igorot mummies burial cave. I simply appreciate what you are doing and you are amazing at what you are doing I as a Filipino could only say thank you because I do not have the capability of doing what you have done for us. Great for telling the world what we have in the country, daghan salamat KD, daot is simply mean damage but it is your alias in socmed but in reality, you are a good person. Daghan Salamat Kumander Daot, deserved to be an ambassador of goodwill for the Philipines.
I really appreciate this comment! Have a great day!
❤

Vlog GUY KD VERY NICE ...... MADAM PONKAN VLOG ... FROM CEBU CITY 💃🐓🦃☔🦋🍆🚏🚏🌺❤️❤️♥️♥️🦆🦃☔
This is one of the best vlog you posted, Kumander Daot!!! I did not know this is a place I can go and marvel the different cultures in the Philippines. Thank you.
I was so absorbed in the majestic sights of this mountain trip that I found myself inhaling deeply to virtually enjoy the fresh mountain air. Another great trip, Kumander. Thanks for the ride-along.
Thank you for showing us these far flung areas of the north. Not everyone gets the opportunity to go there. Kudos on your amazing camera work !
As you explore the Islands of the Philippines and sharing the amazing scenery and presenting each tribes culture, you have made Filipinos very proud knowing through this social media you presented to the world what the country is all about. The appreciation of the citizens on what you do KD cannot be measured. Keep doing what you do best and God Bless You!
I am impressed by how civil engineers built the road network in that part of the region. Incredibly amazing!
Of all the travel/adventure vloggers that have been there, if any, this vlog/documentary is sure to be the best of them all. Nindot kaayo!🤙❤
That province and area are amazing! I've seen pictures of the Banaue rice terraces but I think the terraces you recorded in this vlog are even more impressive. They are awesome in the truest sense of the word!
I can just imagine the people in those mountains must be constantly replacing their brake pads with roads so steep.
I'm impressed by the Kabayan and Benguet burial caves but so saddened to see the desecration of the burials by people leaving their graffiti on the coffins. That is so shameful. Makes you wonder about the people who did that. I'm sure they would not like it if people did that to the graves of their loved ones.
Love how you explain the history of the places you visit. Haven't been to the Philippines in nearly 14 years.
Hi sir Anselm, thank you for stopping by in our Province, God bless you on your adventure...
Astounding! Absolutely amazed how intense and high up in mountains the road, or rather the path leading up to those ancient burial grounds are. That is a sacred place. Your pretty brave driving up there Mr. Plummer.
To be honest, Watching your video is like watching " national Geographic " the way you narrates and tell the story is very very good.
That's why I am addicted watching your video. Keep it coming KD. cheers!
I love it KD.
Hey KD! This is another astounding video of the Cordies. I just love the way you present the beauty and splendor of the landscape. Breathtaking, jaw-dropping sceneries, and ancient cultures and practices of the highlanders. WOW n WOW 👌 👏 😍...
If I may add, KD u thrive and put up exceptionally quality videos/docuvlogs working solo. Though it's also fun working with others occasionally...
This is an amazing blog KD, your knowledge of the traditions & practices are astounding, beautiful scenery too, thank you for featuring this part of your travels.
you give me chills to see you take those crazy roads its so dangerous but nicest view ever take care
Fascinating history of the area. Great to see how infrastructure has improved dramatically the past few decades!
It was so nice meeting with you! Can't wait for the Badekbek Episode at Bokod, Benguet! 😁
Coming up next!

You have a beautiful mind, powerful imagination KD. I love it when you stood by the edge of a cliff to conquer your fear of falling down. More power KD. Would love to meet you some day.
Jaw droppingly breath taking!

All the best to you in Arizona!
As always Kumander, finding hidden treasures in far flung areas. So much respect for you. Be safe on those crazy roads.
So eerie is the word, KD. Walking around Timbac caves with those fog and the cold temperature. You are very brave to explore distant places that we, Benguet people are even scared to go to. Thank you so much for featuring parts of Benguet and The Mountain Province. Travel well documented👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I didn't realise you were from Benguet! Love your province!
@@KumanderDaot 😊Mankayan and Tublay to be exact but sadly, spending most of my life between HK and The UK. Therefore, I am very pleased whenever I watch your vlogs. It is educating me of my roots. Thank you, Anselm.

Kumander you're amazing thanks for showing many places mountains of the Cordilleras.
Be safe always kumander,i'm with you with your adventures, youre really awesome.
You know what, I hope some day if your back in Mindanao that you will take a look at this Igorota from Benguet who recently just won the top award in the first ever MinDA Vegetable Derby & who is now residing in Cagayan De Oro because they-together with few Igorot migrants are now starting a revolution of vegetable farming there in Mindanao. that would be interesting to see.
I didn't hear about that! Would love to find out!
Boy P. must be salivating you beat him to the hidden gems of the Cordilleras! Amazing Kumander you keep on raising the bar in quality travel vlogging with each new posting - great respect, cheers!

The Mountain Province is beautiful. Unfortunately, not so many vloggers go there so we don't see much of the Mountain Province. Aside from beautiful beaches, the Philippines also has beautiful mountains.
Great narration. As always. Perfect music. Beautiful drone footage.
Gorgeous views.
That was close to the bus.
So many greenhouses. Good to see.
You carry so much on your bike.

Awesome road trip. Love the scenery and the drone footage. That is one steep road and one part was so close to the edge and no protection from going over. Scary. Interesting how they buried people in the rock like that. I loved the mural on the wall that looked awesome.

Morning keep safe
Amazing views----thank you for taking us on a tour of the top of the Philippines-----honestly, I dont think I could do that solo
I almost turned back on that last road!
All i can say is WOW!
Man.. Thank you for this past few days in the Luzon mountains . I really am chomping on the bit to go to these areas on my own bike 😁.. I know the camera does not do hills justice as far as really showing how steep it is always . yes these barangay roads go much deeper than what the tourists will see on main roads .. Very well done 😁
You can imagine waking up and taking coffee out on the balcony overlooking rice terraces in the morning. Looking at mountains and a river below.. That would be a nice place to put a little home 😁
@@kevinnashskitchen3517 in some ways, the most beautiful part of the world up there...
