The Dark Side of the Minecraft Plugin Community. This is a NEW Minecraft 1.20.6 video. In this video, I am going to talk about the dark side of the Minecraft plugin community. A lot of Minecraft plugin developers are victims of their Minecraft plugins being pirated and distributed online, without their permission. Developers have been trying to stop this illegal distribution for a long while now. And finally, it seems like now they have found a method to punish the people spreading and promoting this illegal content. It's very epic, fun, amazing and poggers! This will make playing Minecraft insane and amazing! Your players will absolutely love it! I had lots of laughs and fun. Hopefully, you'll get some useful information from this video. @@KasaiSora They leak plugins AND THEY WANT MONEY TO GET THE LEAKED PLUGIN like wtf just go buy the original one, if you are leaking plugins then make them all free.
NGL I actually tried this. And all data got corrupted. The whole 6 months of data gone pufff just like that over night. After that I just wait for a few weeks, collect the money from anywhere I can and buy the plugin.
That is awful to here mate. But lesson learned. Stay safe out there
Same bought a 12euro thing on a website. Wanted to save 100euros but got scammed :(

My story regarding this;
I own a few popular premium plugins.
About a year ago we carried out an investigation into pirated releases of our plugin on the internet (of which there were inevitably many).
Out of all 9 pirated releases for just one of my plugins, 8 of them (when decompiled) had additional malicious code inserted, which did not match my original source code.
I’d hate to see anyone’s server destroyed from viruses like that, but server owners very well know what they are doing is illegal when going to ‘cracked plugin’ websites. It’s just an unwise attempt to cut costs.
That being said, we’ve still made many efforts to have these plugins taken down (which is usually unsuccessful), however it’s usually quite easy to have the links removed from search engines.
I use the “cracked” plugins when my autistic hyperfixation kicks in and I want to create a server on localhost.
Probably gave myself a virus when I think about it.
May the developer "Realistic Seasons" forgive me, I can't pay for his plugin from Russia!

I know of at least 3 sites that do this cracking/leaking exclusively: I never use them for the
plugins, just to get the server configurations I could never figure out (how did they do such and such with this?).
It pains me to see actual good plugin developers loose money from such sketchy operations. It also pains me
to see "legitimate" actors as Songoda really stretch a bad
vibe with the community with their sketchy terms and services, INSANE DEFIMATION OF REVIEWS (they quiet literally hunted people down to take down negative reviews) + poorly written code.

Platforms such as Google can help so much, the only thing they need is less delay. I'm pretty sure if they (somehow) take all of these websites down with a only few days delay, there won't be any problems. And the fact that some people are getting money using other people's work is crazy. So disgusting.

And there are tons of other free plugins to choose from yet they choose use the pirated ones
I do get the urge to start a server, it’s crazy fun. But yeah with so many free alternatives out there, I don’t understand people going for the pirated once’s that might contain a virus

I used pirated mc for years, finally bought it tho, on their 15 ani. Haven't used pirated plugins tho, or lets say that I haven't even searched for them :D..
@@AlphaKala I don't think most people make servers just to have fun with friends, even if they do does it mean they should use pirated things like plugins and cut off the devs earning who spent his precious time making something which you are using to have fun with?
@@DrEggCake literally most do servers to have fun, small percentage try to make money out of those servers and make the global.
But to the piracy part, I'm actually very fine with it, but with a few rules. Only pirate the shit from corporations that don't deserve cash, because recently it has been proven that so many corps do things only to earn money, without any love to their product.
That's why I wouldn't pirate plugins, they aren't made from corporations, but people that care. I wouldn't buy nor pirate them.
We have fun for a few days, maxium a few weeks and thats it. So no point in buying something that won't have long term use.
Just a question tho, if you buy a plugin, do you get the latest updates in the near future, or you are stuck with the version you bought?

Minecraft plugins are a wild jungle of varying quality and consistency. Will it be regularly and quickly maintained and updated for new versions? Will it work with other plugins? Is it intuitive to use? It's like finding a quality RUclips video on...well...anything. And when you have two or three different plugins offering a variance on the same experience, sometimes the only way to know is to test it yourself. I really like it when there is a lite or free version to test out, like MythicMobs, Citizens, DTL Traders, etc., so you can at least see how it fits before dropping up to 20 Euros on a plugin.
Agreed more plugins should start offering lite or free versions like that. As a test to see if it is actually what you are looking for
If you download a pirated plugin and get a virus, you probably deserve it 🤷♂

I know it's so bad if I make a plugin or game I would make a system that would make something appear on screen if they try to delete the code it will not work anymore

I tried these cracked plugins but I simply DO NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone mostly viruses/not working and pain to download or FIND these beacuse most of the plugins you need VIP and if you find a plugin that works congrats it will not work baecuse of anti-piracy protections so you wasted all of your time.And most of the plugins you want there are free alternatives + you can code it yourself It NOT that hard I learnt wirtting plugins at my age of 10.

There's something known as Nova, but you need to know Kotlin to use it

Many of the paid plugins are open source. So you can just build it from its source code.

Yeah i am facing the same problems leaking is not only with plugins but with other stuff of Minecraft like server setups, mc models etc. i make paid server setups and sale them, one of my setup got leaked recently and it effected my sales also there are some websites that are doing completely fake leakes like some of my resources have 0 purchases and they are on those websites and when i downloaded it to test its completely virus. I hope we will figure out something in future to end the piracy from this community.
This is way way to good 6:14 , most of theese websites unfortunetly charge 30-40 dollars (trust me i know lol)... PER MONTH. Thats even worse 😢
1:28 I just wanna point out: The creator of Minecraft (Notch) has pointed out himself on a twitter post (deleted) that you can crack the game and then pay later. He also pointed out to feel bad later, so it is not ENTIRELY illegal, and how else would you think theres a vast majority of cracked launchers out there?
Fact Notch did indeed say that on Twitter. But right now, Notch owns 0% of Minecraft and he has not owned a part of it for almost 10 years. Piracy is still very much illegal, so is pirating Minecraft. But because of the lack of enforcement from Mojang ang Microsoft, it has been kinda normalized now that using a pirated version is an option
I mean, cracked launchers have existed in those 10 years and they havent been taken down or got damaged, so maybe Microsoft is allowing it

I cant understand why I am not allowed to play the offline version to be able to let 10 different kids play on one machine if I have 1 online account licensed for that pc and only one person can play at a time

Unfortunate it's very hard to moderate the amount of sites that provide cracked paid-plugins. What's even more crazy is the fact that they sometimes infect free plugins, upload them to the pirate-sites and claim those free plugins to be "leaked" or "cracked" versions.
The worst of all is... it's working? It's just stupidly effective which I can't comprehend to understand.
That's why I decided to view this whole situation in one simple way:
They are getting punished for using leaked plugins, so there is no need to deal with those leaks. ^^

Buying a legit copy also just feels way better than pirating it! I'm in discord servers where developers require you to verify your purchase and the amount of people that try to fool them into getting free support is crazy!
If you need to pay for a pirated piece of software, that is weird. Kind of the opposite of why piracy exist, which basically getting paid content for free. Ironic.

I feel like the Minecraft cracked is kinda easy to fix like just check when mc is starting up check if the username and password for the account actually is legit and if it is let the user into the game and if it’s not then pull up a piracy detected go buy mc screen

As a plugin developer, thank you for raising awareness of this problem. It's an uphill battle against piracy.
