I think the first time I heard Michael McDonald (outside The Doobie Brothers) was when my son was excited for me to listen to 'Dock of The Bay'. It was good, but I was crazy about the original by Otis Redding. He was blown away when he heard my old school version and I was impressed with Michael's version as well. So maybe you could do a back to back of those.

Sometimes even if you can’t stand a person anymore, when something pops up randomly on any given day that you know only one person will understand, it feels almost impossible to not tell that person what happened; even if you are the one that broke the relationship off because it was toxic and you know you cannot talk to them ever again, THERES ONLY ONE PERSON THAT GETS IT. Whether it be an inside joke, or a war crime that just aired on the news…. It’s hard. To not even be able to take a time-out from never speaking to them again. If they are the voice in your head, it’s a very lonely feeling, like a vacuum, and all you can do is wait to learn how to accept living with that.
When it’s time to go, it’s time to go.

Cross pollination of the musicians, Steely Dan and Toto.
    The Groovemaster Jeff Porcaro on
drums, SD & Toto Lukather from Toto on guitar, Greg P. from Steely on the clav. and Mike Mcdonald from SD.

Never knew this. I love discovering how many famous musicians either worked together in the past or collaborated after they had their own separate careers.
