Phillip, Beth, Rick, and Mindy are in class when Bradley arrives with the police to have Beth dragged out and brought to court to force her to move back home. Phillip and Rick stage a scene and Phillip gets Beth out of the school and they drive off. In the car Beth flashes to a conversation she had with her mother when Lillian told her that Bradley got a promotion in Canada and is willing to go to court to force Beth to come with them. Beth begs Lillian not to tell Bradley that she's staying at the Reardon's boarding house. Lillian agrees but just then, Bradley appears, saying that he's glad that doesn't rely on Lillian to tell him everything. Back in the car, Beth is worried that Phillip will be in big trouble if they get caught but he doesn't care. He asks again what Bradley did to her and she says that she can't talk about it right now. He understands.
Phillip & Beth end up in New York City at Christmas and Phillip is running through the streets searching for Beth. He finally finds her with Santa Claus "Nick", who offers to help them now that they have no money and no where to go.
Loved how Phillip and Rick's teamwork made the dream work. 👍As soon as they spotted Bradley lurking outside the classroom door...and by the time they saw the fear in Beth's eyes and heard it in her voice...they were determined to protect her at all costs.💯
Wow...remember watching this like it was yesterday. I was 14 and couldn't get enough. The NYC escape was THE Friday cliffhangers to end all Friday cliffhangers.🔥 Couldn't race off the bus fast enough to get home to watch the 2nd half with my grandma. We were yelling "run y'all!" right along with Rick. 💜
I loved Nick & how he would always show up at Christmas time. Guiding Light was so good back then.
The way Phillip slid across that hood dukes of Hazzard style took me outta here 🤣😂

Remember feeling like Beth and Phillip would never find their way back to each other. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost...fans got a cool, exciting twist...back in classic soap watching days when an OMG! climax could actually leave you speechless.

All I remember about this is Rick saying Mindy kept asking him "have you found Philip" and Rick would reply over and over again "no Mindy."

And hurting her to. She met Phillip in the hospital because Bradley showed her and hurt her that way as well as insulting her.
