Humble is great. It's also good to have a few 'personalities' in the sport as long as it's within reason. They're the ones that bring in the most attention. Arm wrestling is one of the most competitive sports there is - usually a few seconds of brute strength, adrenaline and testosterone. A humble psyche isn't necessarily going to give you an edge. You have to expect most meatheads to get loud and sure of themselves, ready to go. Then when you win it's hard to suddenly bottle all of that drive. People like John should be appreciated but not expected.
It depends on the league. Some just ask you to stand and it's only a foul if you don't stand. Others let you go as low as you want as long as your fighting shoulder doesn't dip below the table
The last guys name is Lars Rørbakken and he is from Norway. He is 14x norweigan champion and 7x nordic champion. Other than that he is in another weightclass than Brzenk. Rørbakken er 6'4 - 125 kg. So probs to John for beating him after so many matches vs other people he is a true legend.
That's what I thought. So you got beaten easily by the greatest arm wrestler of all time who is clearly much bigger and stronger than you even to begin with? "Yeah pal, you were lucky!"
WHen you look at JOhns face at 3:19, you can see that he knows this guy will not be as easy to beat as the others. Huge respect for the last guy, it must take extreme discipline to get such beastly arms.
after armwrestling about 30 guys or so, his rotator cuff and his muscles would be worn out. John would have thrashed that guy if he was first in line. plus, armwrestling is more about the density of the forearm. John's forearms look much more vascular and dense.
To be honest Lars was going to push John to the limit whether he was first or last, and the guys in between barely had John getting out of first gear. Except big Alan Kliese who out of straps caused John major problems getting hand control.
Australian Armwrestling Federation yup, i heard john state he had incredible hand and wrist strength. god damnit i wish those competitor t shirts were available! damn u AAF! :)

@EllisEvolved this is one of our favourite events and certainly the best-suited music (final track) for a match of such epic proportions. Thanks for the kinds words my friend.
I like how most of the guys go to the table with a smile on their faces even knowing they have no chance. They just enjoy the opportunity to play with the greatest.
What a legend. Respectful, Humble, Strong as an Ox. Enjoys his work but without rubbing peoples noses in it. A true ambassador. A true warrior. No Bullshit talk. Strength and heart backed up by solid technique. Some of the new wave should take note on how a true champ conducts himself. Nice vid. cheers for sharing.
This dude has been my idol since I was a kid and found I had a natural inclination for arm wrestling.. He absolutely slaughters the competition, and does it in a calm, collected, and respectful manner. I've seen him beat dudes who are much larger with aplomb. Much respect to Mr. Brzenk.
This is the first pro arm wrestling video I watch cus I was really bored, but damn! Massive respect to John, he looks all calm and chill even during that last one after beating all those other guys (and girl). He's not even a big muscle dude, he looks normal and takes down monsters! Everyone's so focused on Lars here that people didn't realize he took down Brett Coutts and Maate Heta-Morris with absolute ease, the former gave Devon Larratt quite a bit of trouble once.

Nah....he is a professional arm wrestler, using a fairly common technique, called the flop-wrist press. I have tried it before, and its generally a very comfortable position if you know what you are doing. But he might have suffered a bit of a slight injury which might nag him for a few weeks, just because his match was so long and tough.
John is the GOAT of arm wrestling for a reason, he could have broken the last guy's arm easily, but he clearly held back when the guy's arm was in an awkward angle...
John should replace the pad on his side with a board full of nails sticking out if it. Knowing that there's no chance his arm is ever going to touch it in defeat.
Epic video, love the pull at around 0:52 where John has to put a bit more in to pin the strong looking smaller guy in the white vest, John's eyes bulging out with the extra force applied.
Superb example of managing the opposing force. John uses the strength of his opponent (technique for heavier than him) to overthrow him. He lets his opponent get tired in the first moments and then begins a gentle ascent when the pressure is released. Then he braces the arm of his opponent who can only suffer. and as soon as his opponent gives up his arms, he has only to exert pressure to win the match.
