- Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have joined the list of celebrities boycotting Dolce & Gabbana. The couple talked to “Extra’s” Renee Bargh on Saturday at the 2015 GLAAD Media Awards. saying they will never wear the brand again, after founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana made remarks to an Italian magazine calling children conceived via artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization "synthetic children.”
Why is it that those who want tolerance don’t want to be tolerant of others point of view
There is a difference between having an opinion and being mean.
People are free to chose not buy clothings at a store, nobody can be forced to buy something .. its totally different from a store owner refusing to serve someone due to them being gay ..
You're failing miserably to understand the difference.
Not agreeing with you doesn't equal I'm not tolerant of you.
You may say something - it's your right.
I might disagree with you that's my right.
Why?
Because everyone has an opinion and it's only normal to express it.
Meanwhile , 'Intolerance' means:
- to literally oppress someone in one way or another- shall it be verbally, physically, emotionally, socially, economically etc.
- to prive one of their freedoms & liberties.
-to treat someone differently and remove their rights based on colour of their skin or their sexual orientation or their religion etc.
That's what 'intolerance' is.

Expressing dismay is one thing, calling for a boycott by some attentioning has been 80's drag queen like Elton John is too much. This is coming from people who VALUE AND ADVOCATE freedom of expression. The comment is not necessarily homophobic. It is a view point... you are allowed to disagree. But to react to it like its a hateful speech from someone who is so almighty is just BEING over dramatic. Dolce and Gabbana are fashion designers, they make clothes, they don't a country or make laws for society. The whole backlash is making you sound like the irrational enemies that hurl rocks the minorities. They did not speak against a lifestyle. They may said something that offended people. But calling for a boycott is just making intelligent people look dumb. Why not call a boycott on all these Labels? Why pay 100 dollars for a white t-shirt?
marc benjamin No-one is saying that Dolce & Gabanna don't have the right to make stupid, offensive comments; they have every right to do so. But Elton John and others have an equal right to point out that their comments were ignorant and thoughtless. And those of us who wish to do so, also have the right to boycott their products and to give our money instead, to open minded, 21st century designers who don't spout mediaeval nonsense.
Aging drag queen looks for attention and desperate to prove their relevance hurl snow balls at old friends and the whole world reacts and turn this into a POLITICAL PAGEANT. They express a view point and a mob was raised, from the same people who advocate free speech. Yes you are free, but when you say that perhaps MICHEAL JACKSON and that blogger Perez Hilton were not being too cool in farming babies from rented wombs, you are suddenly in the same level with born again christians who can't stop posting photos of Jesus on social media. Dolce and Gabbana were celebrated by people with money for ages and admired for their innovative visions in the realm of high fashion. Now in a snap of an aging drag queen's finger, they are reduced to IRRATIONAL bible chanting jesus freaks. The world should only be divided between the HATERS and the Humanist, and now we get even more segregated. The irrational moralist is very happy, with people like Ellen joining the Elton John trailer. IT WAS TOO OFFENSIVE, what the designers stated. You can react negatively. But turning this to a war is just shooting gay advocacy on its own feet. We are looking like irrational drama queens ganging up on D&G for expressing themselves. It is such HYPOCRISY. The statement was too offensive, considering the cultural backgrounds of these designers. So what if they made such statements. These guys make clothes, they don't preach the way other artist do. Besides, people who don't even buy expensive clothes should be insulted by this call for a boycott.
They're not calling for everyone to boycott DG ... they're just simply saying they personally do not want to buy things from DG .. which is fine, everyone can chose who they do not want to give money to ..

They do have the right. But so do others who critisize their opinion.
Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, so do those who disagree with them and therefore will not buy things from them ... no one can be forced to buy things from people whom they find abhorrant ..
