One of the most bizarre, unexpected rivalries of Melee formed during Revival of Melee 2 in 2009. Mango, the greatest Melee player the world had ever seen, runs into a Canadian Ganondorf main by the name of the Kage the Warrior for the first time. Three sets, two players, and a storied history that left Melee fans in disbelief.

This might be off topic but, I gotta say As a person that plays music. That the last stock legends intro music really sometimes brings the good tears into my eyes. There's something about the music that brings this sense of old school but at the same time it's timeless and the music kinda expresses how melee is still great today and probably the spirit of the community for melee will never die. The appreciation for melee really just transcends time . Its all timeless. I think my point is Melee will live on forever in our hearts even if competitive scene ever comes to an end.

I've heard Kage wants to pick up Fox, and on one hand I want him to show everyone that he's really good but it's sad to think he's dropping Ganon with all the history he has with the character

This is the year of the Ganon, I've been seeing a lot of Ganons on netplay and it makes me so happy.

kage is one of the great underappreciated minds of smash. Ganon is such a difficult character to play at a top 100 level, let alone trade sets with all time greats like Mango. And Kage was a top player for years and years, relying on his ability to observe and adapt to his opponent's tics and habits.

7:15 I've only been in the zone and experienced what Kage is talking about twice in my life. Both times was while playing halo 2 shotty-snipes. It was amazing! Very surreal. I love the way he describes it.
I've had that in the zone feeling before. The best way I can describe it is like focused adrenaline
The only part missing is Kage's ongoing boasts of these two wins for two years straight on Smashboards, leading to s2j and a few other creating a group on Smashboards called "Kage hate group".

I think you made a good point. Lots of people have the same tendencies. Mang0/Leffen/Kage aren't the only people in the world to become prideful after success. Sometimes it bothers certain people; it can't be helped.

A very short-lived rivalry. In fact it's like the minimum requirement for a rivalry in terms of number of sets. However, this rivalry is more about the content of the sets rather than number of sets which is cool.
