I’m Jamaican. I was on a video with a Ugandan girl (Angella) who asked what something is called in her language. Someone said their language was Ibibio out of 9ja. I’d never heard of them but I consider myself versed in 9ja tribes so I looked them up. Found out there’s a huge population in Trinidad. Looked up Ibibio in Trinidad and found this gem of a video. We also say “obeah” in Jamaica. And the accara is called Festival in JA (likely some brits erased the original word we used). I’m grateful for you sharing this, we are so much more connected than we think. They plucked us from home, but so many things still remain.
