When he said simple carb, I think he meant complex carb... Diabetics should stay away from simple carbs.
depends on what kind of diabetic you mean
as a type 1 diabetic i can say for a fact you are wrong. diabetics can eat anything they want as long as we are taking insulin and would need simple carbs especially when your blood sugar is low. working out lowers your blood sugar so if he is being very active he would need them to keep his blood sugar from dropping.
bree young I didn't know that. Hmm, good to know. If I eat too much simple carbs my blood sugar shoots through the roof, even if I'm working out it will make me feel dizzy and wonky.
The only time I could see this being the case though is when he is working out or has extreme low blood sugar - is that not correct?
Live Till I Die yeah i mean it is different for everybody how their body reacts. for me i get low when working out so i make it a point to eat simple carbs. In everyday life i still eat simple carbs without hesitaition and since i am giving myself insulin to cover the carbs i have no problem with it i never feel dizzy or anything and my blood sugar stays in good range. Thats how it is for me and the Type 1 friends i have. But like i said everyones body is different. Simple sugars are found in a fruits, veggies and milk so when maintaining a healthy diet you will need to consume them.
