• House of the Dragon So...
Finding out your father has died and that your younger brother has usurped your throne then having a still born birth in one day would be enough to drive anyone a little insane but it didn't. She kept her calm as best she could and tried to do what was right by everyone. But finding out your son has been murdered on dragon back while trying to make peace? Yeah, there's no hope for sane after that.
Yeah, whatever she does is justified from now on. She really tried to hold back
@@theo4884 added to that, she was raised by a king who is loved by the realm and known for being peaceful. It was natural for her to hold back unless provoked by these extremes
@@hamithyjones3894 mmh vyserys wasn't that loved by realm tho
It's not fair to call her crazy
I think there is still a world of difference between sane and vengeful. She will want vengeance for sure but insane is still very far down the road IMO.
4:01 is so fcking raw, you can literally feel rhaenyra’s pain 💔
I loooove the shift at 4:01, when you know any semblance of mercy/hope for peace from Rhaenyra is gone
That’s also when we hear the GoT theme and you can just feel those dark wheels turning.
Sunfyre got her though fosure
@@thebasketballexpress1934Like Aegon's is from his own 😂.
@@thebasketballexpress1934it’s okay, her line is the one that continues on in the end
Beautiful analysis 🤌
The way we think we’ve found relief when Rhaenyra’s theme starts playing, only for it to become distorted and monstrous, just thrills me. Give Djawadi an Emmy
The last minute is just chills
4:02 When the second note of the usually triumphant and uplifting Targaryen theme drops, or *SINKS* it has such a corrosive quality to it, it's a descent to the darkness from there. A mad cue for someone turning to the dark side, all musicians should take notes!
I think ypur thinking of the GOT theme that plays in several tracks when something notable happens
i love when a composer will add chromatic notes to an established theme to make it sound warped and broken, like a character’s mind is slipping away
@@Ashbrash1998No, he's right
Her children were murdered! She is not "turning to a dark side" she is feeling a mother's fury. Be fr
I absolutely LOVE the part at 1:18 with the "calling" string instrument and the deeper "repeating" sound as Aemond screams into the storm trying to find Luke - it's like a musical "where are you?!" to me
"you owe a debt, boy"
@@attreides8744 Ewan Mitchell's delivery in high valyrian was incredible
I think that's his theme, you can also hear it when he claims vhagar
That ending. There are shades of Rhaenyra theme in there and then it start to become something else, something frightening and terrifying and I don't know what else. It's like the music is coming straight from Rhaenyra's soul, or even more, it's a literal manifestation of it. Both really.
It's Daenarys' theme (Breaker of Chains) at the end. Just a far more sinister and dark version.
In the books, rhaenyra gets more and more unhinged throughout the civil war. In season 2 we’ll see a darker side to her, not on a level like season 8 Daenerys through.
@@dreamfyres Dany only one.episode.was.like.that 🥲
@@Alex-jn3cc I was listening to it and I although some moments reminded me of this track, I found them to be more different than similar. But I've seen people noting that Rhaenyra's theme (The Power of Prophecy) also have notes similar to Daenerys' music.
@@Alex-jn3cc
that's not Dany's theme, it's the House Targaryen theme.
2:33 seeing the shot of Daemon walking in to give Rhaenyra the news of her son's death was just heartbreaking. Poor Lucerys, he didn't deserve to die like that.
Probably one of the best composers around today
I love the shift in Rhaenerya's theme from hopeful, upbeat early in the season to dark and sinister in the final scene of episode 10. No one in this show is a hero
She’s my hero, no matter how psychotic she gets
@@alexissimpson5819 Any reason why?
Actually so far she didn't do anything wrong lol. Sure that the guy needed to be gone was something that had to be done anyway and he didn't even want that relationship himself so basically she helped him with that. Only sad for Rheanys and Valerion, but if you look at what Otto and Alicent do to make their bloodline the king is way worse then any what Rheanyra would even have thought of so far. Rheanyra will react on the actions of the mistakes that Otto and Alicent made
Daemon is my hero and champion lol
@@KainBooks Sure, murdering a six year old is heroic
To me this is where the tragic tale of Rhaenyra and her children begins... despite what you feel about her, imo when it comes to her being a mother, she’s certainly tragic. I mean the war itself started with one of her children dying and before that she lost a father and a daughter and if only it stops there... idk i have so much sympathy for her especially the motherly side of her.
Immediately rushed to this track, you can hear the fear of Luke and the anguish of Rhaenyra! Beautiful ending
Yes!!!
The scene where Rhaenyra goes fully mad when hearing about Arrax’s head washing onto the Dragonstone Shore never fails to give me chills, the parallel between her and Daenerys embracing their madness is phenomenal.
Rhaenyra hasn’t gone mad and there’s nothing to suggest it. Not even book Rhaenyra goes this crazy at this point in the story. It’s perfect rational to be angry over your child being murdered
The way Daemon softly grabbed her arm was heartbreaking.
The same hand that choked her a day before 💀
@@Dan-fl7yx And.
I agree ! Dance of the Dragons next .
@@Dan-fl7yx if you noticed, she wasn't even phased really once she realized why. It was a huge insult for his brother to never have told him about the prophecy while he *was* his heir for the throne
Didn't he say he'd be going to Riverun?
She grieved for all of 15 seconds and turned around with a look of calm rage on her face
The second half of this track is one of the most unsettling and depressing themes Ramin has composed! Super unnerving!
The look on Rhaenyra’s face says it all!
Such a powerful note to end the season off on!
Ending reminds me of the bells
When you think about how many people will die from this conflict and what happens to House Targaryen this soundtrack is so fitting.
0:20 , man I can't wait to hear more of Aemond's theme song... It's so distinctive and sounds perfect for his character. Still in awe at how well they managed to adapt and cast Aemond from the book. Ewan Mitchell is the perfect fit!
There's no more Realm's Delight. Now we have the Black Queen, of rage, made of fire and blood
I’m listening to this in my car on the speakers and when I get the 4:00 part the music literally makes my car vibrate it’s so powerful
The greatest song in the 1 season. So terrifiyng and badass in the beggining. And so sorrowful and sinister in the end. Ladies and gentelmen. The Dance of the Dragons begun 🐉
Ramin makes you feel a spectrum of emotions in a matter of minutes - fear, strength, anxiety, anguish, remorse, desperation, grief, rage...simply wow
2:40 is such a masterpiece, deeply unsettling, tragic and how it was incorporated into the Rhaenyra's main theme was GLORIOUS, Ramin once again outdid himself
1:17 "YOU OWE ME A DEBT."
"Aemond you had one job" - theme
Loved that Ramin incorporated the tunes to sound like the dragons ❤🖤
RIP Lucerys.....RIP the 7 kingdoms and RIP house Targaryen for they will never be the same after this civil war.
This soundtrack has become my second favorite of the HOTD album (fate of the kingdoms is still number 1)
I love the dragon flying/Aemond theme used in the first half of this soundtrack. And
3:53 onwards is the best combination of grief and anger mixed together I have ever heard. No matter how many times I listen it always gives me chills.
You can feel the power of Vhagar through this song!
1:16 I love how it sounds

@@Sozile Thanks! I love this Game of Thrones Game.
@@LevyComY shame we never had a season 2 from tell tales
I just noticed something. And maybe I'm wrong. But at 4:10 I can hear Ramin using the same foreboding drums he already played when Danaerys went mad. If so, what a wonderful musical continuity to signal Rhaenyra's coming rage.
I felt that too
Absolutely! Took me back to the bells episode. The madness has began 🐉 🔥
@@theraretee1859 A pity, going back to the bells I mean
@@theraretee1859 how is anger related to hearing of your son dying and wanting to avenge him"madness" lol
Everyone says that Rhaenys was the reason the war began because she could have ended it then and there with Meleys, but there is no telling what kind of war would have taken place. It was Aemond who began it. Rhaenyra was debating on putting aside her throne and allowing Aegon to rule because she believed in keeping the realm at peace and preparing for the coming fight in the North. When she found out the news of Lucerys' death and how Aemond was responsible, her decision to fight for her throne was made and that was when the true Dance started.
Even if Rhaenys had burnt them in episode 9, there still would be a war. Jaehaerys (aegons eldest son) wasn’t there, which means he has a claim to the throne. He’d certainly have a large group of supporters from the westerlands and the reach
Ending it showing Rhaenyra her fierceness and fury was a sight. From going limp when getting the news of Lucerys death to finally it settling and seeing her bubble with anger. I need a loop of the final 30 seconds, this score is heaven. Bring on Season 2.
3:56 eugh it just sounds so wrong but SO right, djawadi perfectly encapsulated the feeling of hatred in the score, that burning satisfaction mixed with harsh reality
Why can't my headphones be louder??? This piece of music is so intense that every note gives me goosebumps! Unbelievable! This is just beyond anything earthly!
Enough with Rhaenyra, is no one gonna acknowledge that how much the dragon chase was like a horror movie sequence? And it was so perfect, the weather, atmosphere, the acting , the CGI and most importantly the music this is the most unique and original scenes in fantasy genre that was brought to life and I can never forget it.
The sorrow turning to rage at the end 😮
One of the best soundtracks! The finale is perfect.
1:03 - 1:32 sounds legendary.
Aemond laughing maniacally while riding Vhagar, throwing back his head amidst thunder and rain, shouting in high valyrian trying to find Luke. A flawless scene.
@@BucketheadChuck It was badass, great scene
Ramin is perfectly able to convey the state of mind of the characters through music, he is the soul of Westeros
Holy cow, what a roller coaster of emotions. Towards the end I was having goosebumps and feeling both deep sadness and rage just what Rhaenyra was feeling. A masterpiece. This is the power of music, it can make you feel intense emotions, Wow.
Ramin does a perfect job making the soundtrack but also melding themes which makes the music almost like a character in itself. You hear elements of that hopeful choir like voice at the end trying to come through but is drowned out by that terrifying war like hum. It really conveys what rhaenerya is going through. Probably changing to warrior queen.
The last half of this piece is up there, for me, with Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings with it's ability to pull emotions out of you. It's cathartic.
Absolutely brilliant track. There’s so many different emotions in this one.
3:28 the drama.....🔥
Nice detail:
If you listen to the very first track in the soundtrack, The Heirs Of The Dragon, the last part, where Rhaenyra speaks of Jaehaerys knowing, that the only thing to tear down the house, was the house itself. Dragons vs dragons... The ominous instrumentation is only heard again in this scene, where the house begins tearing itself apart for real. My guess is, that we´ll hear variations of this going forward, every scene where dragons (beasts or people) are fighting each other.
...and here we are, in Rook´s Rest pt. 2 ;-)
in terms of INCREDIBLE endings to pieces of music by Ramin Djawadi from GoT and HoTD this and Master of War are my favourites.
On a completely different note I've been driving myself nuts trying to figure out what the instrumental from 3:03 onward was but it from his soundtrack to westworld. Its amazing too. I think its I promise and its about lost too. It sounds amazing here.
And so the dance begins
0:19 & 1:16 Aemond theme💚
It fits perfectly, you can also hear it a little bit in ep 9 after he confronts Aegon under the steps. Im sure Ramin will upgrade it even better for season 2 👍🏻.
It mostly played for Aemond but I believe it’s also the ending part of the theme that played for the council scene
@@arutlit62 its at the end of Heirs of the dragon theme 👍🏻

0:11 Best and most intense dragon battle music so far in the show
Well we haven't even really had a battle yet. Wait for Vhagar Vs Caraxes, that'll probably be your most badass dragon battle theme of them all.
And the dance begins..
This was very beautiful but also eerie, and foreshadowing Rhaenyra’s downfall.
she will become very very very cruel
@@jamien368 What a sad fate
She becomes “maegor with teats”
@@jamien368 not really, she doesn't do a whole lot in the war that justifies her being Cruel.
@@outbobthelaw2248 DOSEN’t mean that she will act in the same manner on the show. We all have seen the themes of the show is a lot different from the books in the books she didn’t took part in the war actively because of her early labor with Visenya. But in the show she was seen riding the dragon on the same she had given birth. And the way her character had build up since the beginning says a lot about her being actively involved in the war on the show. I’ve no doubts about it.
I like the approach of the show. The war was started not by the riders, but by the mounts. Targaryen pull their strength from the dragons and yet the war will start because of them. Ironical.
Maybe the part 0:20 until 1:50 is the new Aemond's theme? I don't know, I heard something similar when Lucerys enters Storms End's and sees Aemond there.
seems like it , similar theme can also be heard when Aemond is about to ride Vhagar

There is a video on here by Salvation Comics which is just the scene of Rhaenrya learning of Lucerys' death. It is from the show, but no sound except the music, so you can pull it up to loop play it on RUclips. Otherwise it is tied to the first half in other places (such as the album itself from all sources such as Spotify and so on). There is also a "slowed" version from ARE AvalonRelease.
