That poor OLD TREE 😂 ! SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT ALL THE DAMAGE IT DID . You're all lucky, LUCKY IT CAME DOWN WHEN NO ONE WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO GET HURT. The Plane build is looking pretty good there. Like seeing the finished GIRL! 🎉
We are a dying beed Andy. This year I scratch built a 30% Aeo Craft Staudacher, and two 72 inchish Ugly Stik types, one high wing and one low wing powered by a Super Tigre 90 and an ASP 1.08 respectively. The Bearcat is a real challenge . . I salute you. This years winter project is a Goldberg Ultimate blown up to 77" Wingspan (140%) powered by a Saito FG 61 TS 4 stroke gas twin. My two Dream Builds are a Roy Vailancourt Sea Fury and a Zirolli Corsair converted to an F2G in Race # 57 colors . . . I am 70 yrs old so I may not get there but will have fun trying , , , , Keep on Keeping on Brother.
Man I was lucky enough to know people that sold me a decent kit for a good price I’m a year into a 33% extra 330L and I’ve got half of the parts and I’m working on the other half. I’m seeing it come together and just loving it
Boy is she looking great! Something I've been doing for a long time is spraying hair spray on my balsa when i finish sand my models. Makes for a really smooth surface. You might try it on this one. Mike c
As of lately I've been resurrecting order planes I've picked up at the swap meet. But yur making me want to scratch build something as you are. The Bearcat is looking good 👍🏻
Looking great Andy. I am one of those lost breeds of scratch builders. I bought a set of plans, cowl and Canopy from Nick a number of years ago and started working on it 3 years ago until I had to move from southern California. Now that you mentioned about national balsa having kits available that's the way to go. I was going to cut all the parts myself but maybe not. National is my go to place for building materials. I have used foam core 3/16" to 1/4" for wing ribs and are very strong using sheeting or cap strips. Love what you have done with your bear in a short time. It will be great. John from Hayden, Idaho
Appreciate your work as always Andy....Bearcat is coming along just great, can't wait to see her with the covering on.....that mystery aircraft on its nose almost looks like a Midwest Mach 1 but I can't tell....I'll let you elaborate. Thanks again
I'm with you I'm the dying breed brother I still love the build I hate foamy electrics Because they're taking away half of the fun of modeling That is building your plane
Again thanks for sharing Andy I ordered mine from national balsa As you recommended Thank you for that tip Can you share what you are using for glue to edge sheet So that you don't have a hard seam when sanding ? She's looking great and I love your idea of color scheme ! I want to build mine as rare bear So I was curious if you know of any other shorter sleeker canopies ? Bates perhaps ? Looking forward to more of your build and also thanks for the tip on the new covering ! Matt from upstate New York
The NeuCover Silver is Great! It’s a bit blinding when reflecting the sun, but it’s a great looking shade of silver. My black NeuCover hates the sun… the white and red seem to not be bothered much.
Hi Andy. Looks great. Im the same on using covering vs fiberglass. The last few years I bought up as much of the flatt monocoat warbird colors as i could fine. I has a stash! As we discussed at Muncie Im going to cover my P51 Pica in monocoat.. What i feel is key after sanding run the woodpecker over the surface and then a coat of BalsaRight. Some of us just love to build right! Hope the insurance company does you right. Stay strong my friend.
I get my plans from precision cut kits and fiberglass if they have it or from fiberglass specialties. Makes building much easier. And my balsa from National Balsa. It's easy just ordering what you need right from your bench.
Nice work Andy.. Love the content. I kit build too. I have designed a boat and scratched build it. I have three short kits to build. along with one I haven't finished yet. Hope to start back on it soon.( Medical problems..) I enjoy watching your videos. BTW,, what cha got sittin' on it's snout?
HEY ! For the Rudder and Elevator, is it possible ON YOUR KIT TO MAKE THEM ATTACHABLE? Using tubing? It would be easier to store the whole plane, and not have the WORRY OF THEM GETTING BROKEN. Just thoughts for your great plane TRIBUTE!
I choose to not glass and paint because it takes to much time.....if this was a competition type model then I would. My next warbird build will be glassed, painted, and detailed
I’ve just built a Cambrian p51 mustang (46 size). I’d love to build a big 1/5 scale p51 but I’m not sure how difficult that will be as I’ve only built 2 kits (not ARFs)… but I enjoy the process and enjoy improving my building skills. Seems to be getting ever more difficult to find these kits (I’m in the UK). How much would you say a TF p51 1/5 scale would cost (just the kit) these days?

The Ultimate is gonna be sweet!

I like to get the fuselage guts in before adding tail surfaces.

That is a old pattern plane called a desafio 2.
I'm with you I'm the dying breed brother I still love the build I hate foamy electrics
Because they're taking away half of the fun of modeling That is building your plane
Having a living, breathing engine up front is huge for me as well
Beautiful looking airplane!! You are doing an awesome looking job on the build! Skills!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Comming along nice Andy.
You have ignited the fire to continue my build on my Beech 18
Thanks for the update, the choice of covering on the bear is going to look fantastic!!
Beautiful. It looks and sounds like you are having a great time. Congratz.
Again thanks for sharing Andy

I just use zap medium ca, as long as you rub the ca in sanding isn't bad at all
Looks great Andy!
Thanks buddy!
Andy think about using foam for the back of the fuse by the rudder it does come out great get it sanded to shape then glass it nice and light.
Already done. The balsa block supplied is really light

That's great to here!

There is just something satisfying about a nice covering job! Fingers crossed on the insurance.......

My big spend for me is normally buying the engine rest of it is down hill from there I just got a extreme flight 92in 540 need 70cc power for it
Technical term: Whoopdidoo:- Complex reverse curve. Charlie Chambers was always a great stick!
He sure was
I'm sorry to hear about your tree falling on your belongings.
Love your updates, the bear looks awesome...look forward to the next update 👍👍
And Andy can do a video on your thoughts on RID please.
Probably not a good idea....... that whole thing frustrates me!
Nice job!
Looking fantastic Andy 😊
Im the same as you bud if i want a new aircraft i have to build it form plan or kit...
Just as well i like building 😂

An old pattern plane designed by quique somenzinis father!

It would take a lot of work but it is possible. Storage and transportation is not a problem
After a DR1 and D7 builds the last three years, I don’t like building wings
I totally agree with you on ultracoat, the glue sucks, monokote was the best I will try the neucover stuff
I have covered three planes with the neucover, so far I really like it
@@n1114v thank you, coming from you it means a lot to me, I will try it , I’m building a Cloud dancer now so hopefully it will be good, thanks
@@billjones3071 I love the cloud dancer!
Hello Andy
? Why are you opposed to glass and paint. Ziroli recommends glassing.
I choose to not glass and paint because it takes to much time.....if this was a competition type model then I would. My next warbird build will be glassed, painted, and detailed
I'm going to keep my panties ON! 😂 BUT, if I do build, I'll show it!
I’ve just built a Cambrian p51 mustang (46 size). I’d love to build a big 1/5 scale p51 but I’m not sure how difficult that will be as I’ve only built 2 kits (not ARFs)… but I enjoy the process and enjoy improving my building skills.

They go for a lot..... I would go with a good set of plans for a different mustang that same size
Love the videos, what’s that mig about hiding in the corner?
A friend of mine gave it to me......needs a 6S battery witch I refuse to own. I dont like big lipos!
looking good! how many hours do you think you've put into it so far?
I try not to keep track of working hours. Should be a 5 month build.
@@n1114vhaha I hear that
