  • This RUclips video discusses a common problem with mold buildup under the cover of a Tchibo coffee machine. A solution by removing a beauty plate and ventilating the cover. Additionally, the RUclipsr briefly mentions a coffee stand they created that simplifies bottle filling and offers to share the design. They demonstrate the process of drilling holes in the plate using Fusion 360 software and then attaching it to the coffee machine.

    Hey man, probably as relevant as any video to leave this on!
    You 100% taught me and had me prepared to set up a Sub/Bass only aux for a band that had never done so last weekend. I was helping with a production company and the band brought in their own sound guy and mixer, they only wanted a L+R but I made sure they used the sub send, (since the subs wouldn't have gotten signal otherwise!) and had them all set up on an unused bus. Thanks so much for your videos and educational stuff man!

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  9 месяцев назад

      Excellent and thank you. Also, one thing you can do if you have an engineer that does not want subs on an aug send, is to connect the left and right to matrix outs on the console. Then dial up left into matrix 1 and right into matrix 3 and put subs on matrix 3 and dial both left and right into it. This allows an engineer to mix as they normally would with left and right and still drive the subs as well

    Got the same machine, and liked it, just used a brush to clean it every now and then.
    Good point with the venting, I would have done it, but stopped drinking coffee 3 months ago and swept to tea (non black one).
    Life is better now. Body is better now :)

      Love tea! And coffee too. I switch between. It was mainly the 2 machines we have at the Rat shops that needed this. Lots of use and mold will show up in a few days but we only have cleaning humans once a week.
      This solved it

    Absolutely love love love the convenience of such coffee makers.
    But, once one switches to quality fresh ground coffee in a simple pour over ... you'll never go back.

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  9 месяцев назад +1

      As one that has a pour over set up as well as an Italian pavoni, a glass vacuum, Keurig and several other coffee making devices, not unlike the multitude of speaker systems that I own, I enjoy them all for differing purposes.
      Having a pour over set up in the office with our 20 plus employees is not the right tool for the job nor is it the right tool for my girlfriend that gets up at 5:00 in the morning with limited time to get to work. But there is a time and a place for diversity in the tools we use to achieve the pleasures and goals that we have

      Well said.
      I just wish the Keurig quickie type makers didn't impart their negative characteristics ... plastic etc., unto the finished product.
      If there was an all hq stainless water path Keurig type rig, I'd be all about it.

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah not a big K-Rig fan but I have a vacation house that it serves well. Also buying the pods that do not have any plastic in the path and are biodegradable helps. We take each pod and cut it open and dump the grinds from it into the garden. And the water never touches the biodegradable plastic. I haven't looked inside but typically those types of machines use silicon tubing and metal heaters and there's not really plastic in the path but I'd have to open it to see

    Your biggest problem will not be mold. It will be the grinder, if you use espresso (dark/oily) roast. Unfortunately the manual gives no instructions how to clean it and maintain it.

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  Месяц назад

      Well, I have bought 5 machines. 1 home, one for Coachella and gigs, 2 for the min shop warehouse and 1 for the satellite warehouse.
      We had mold issues with all of them until doing the modification.
      We had one grinder sort of go bad. It was spitting out little fan blades and the bearns were not grinding and the grinds were all impacted and jammed up.
      Sent it back and it was a warranty repair.
      Took a while though
      For now we are all good with all 5 machines running well and no mold.

    Why but just put some silica jell in the space and replace it every so often>?

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  10 месяцев назад +2

      Could do but also, that would be another thing to add to a task list for someone to do at the office, increase waste and increase costs.
      Also, there is a good amount of moisture, I am guessing the silica would not significantly absorb enough to accommodate the 10 to 20 cups of coffee a day that the machine makes.
      If we are going to open up the machine, may as well just wipe the insides daily, but...
      That's exactly what is not happening and why it's molding

  • @dtroutmann
    @dtroutmann 10 месяцев назад +2

    My solution would be to take that door off completely and cleanly Velcro a tight mesh screen so the airflow gets in there and it's not an issue anymore and then when I travel I would roll the screen up tuck it inside put the hard cover on when I got to my destination put the screen back on.
    Haah if I just waited 15 seconds before my comment

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  10 месяцев назад

      The machine has a door present sensor so that needs to be bypassed to operate without the door in place. It's just wedging something in the detection hole but that is added complexity to not using the door.
      We have 3 of these machines, 2 at the Rat shops and one at my house. All have the issue and we don't really have someone to clean them every day so I wanted a simple fix to not have mold and not look tacky

    How to fix leaking of coffee

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  10 дней назад

      If you are getting raw grinds in the tray that are not wet, probably need to do a good cleaning, the transition hopper moves the grinded beans to the hot water injector but if sometimes if not clean, the hoper can't move fully into position and the grinds leak down.
      Gotta clean up and all around the removable hopper
      If you are leaking actual coffee, that is a disassembly adventure that is messy. They are pretty good about warranty and fixing, I would try sending back before doing a take apart
