      @@ChosenInterval I agree. I don't really see how Morbid Angel can be viewed as better than Death. I don't think MA is bad, just not as interesting. It seems like they never evolved from their sound really either-from the late 1980s to the late 2010s. Death seemed to evolve with every album-better song writing, production, etc. MA might be the better traditional death metal band, but Death is the better metal band overall.

      @@Chris_Hruska I’d argue that they were original. Because even if they did start with an existing song, they changed it to sound completely different. And their sound was sure as hell original. As original as any music gets, given that it’s always built on what came before.
      There’s also the thing that back then, IP wasn’t regarded in quite the same way that it is now. It was common for many different people to record the same song- just check out how many people recorded a jazz standard within five years or so. So it’s not surprising that they took an existing song and then made it completely their own. And there’s also the fact that of all the songs that they didn’t write, their version is always the definitive version. Every time.
      I’d say that makes them original enough.

    • @Chris_Hruska
      @Chris_Hruska 3 года назад

      @@katherinemorelle7115 yea, I just love complete originality, but the more I learn about art the more I see that its all based on something that came before it. Extremely Deep Rabbit Hole. It is a very long journey to take, but a great one. They cover many genres from one album to the next. 9 albums. each with their own style. Blues, psychadelic, funk, rock, a little pop toward the end. Many heavy ballads like the Rain Song. A little reggae flare on D'yer Maker. Funk with songs like Trampled Under Foot. Folky tunes like Going to California. Heavy Blues in the first 3 albums. Since I've Been Loving You, You Shook Me, Lemon Song, and many more. Psychadelic with No Quarters. Straight up Thunder Rock with tunes like Rock N Roll, Black Dog, Song Remains the Same, Black Dog, Ramble On, Whole Lotta Love. Killer drum songs with Moby Dick, and Bonzo's Montreaux. You can not find one bad tune over all 9 albums. Take the deep dive. Gods and Legends. Each one are legendary on each instrument they play. Page with the guitar, Plant vocals, harmonica, and tambourine, Bonham on the drums, and John Paul Jones tickles the ivory, plays the bass, and even a mandolin in some.

      Well said👍
      They were not content to just be pigeon-holed as a hard rock band. They stretched the boundaries of music and were not afraid to take on different genres not just from album to album but from song to song. They were like at the cutting edge of music for a decade, true pioneers and everyone else followed.
      That is why in 2021 the younger generation discovering them for the first time are getting blown away.

      You're kind of right, but not a stairwell. This was recorded in a huge house called Headley Grange. When you walk into the house, it has a VERY large wood open area in the foyer and you can see the second floor ceiling from it, and the stairs (against the wall) go up to the high second floor. The mics were tied around the upper level at the bottom of the staircase railing. Bonzo actually played in the foyer, and the echo was picked up by the mics on the second level. Cheers!

    One of the greatest contributions that 1960's English musicians made to music history was turning their love of American Blues music into a stunning new genre of music, after they electrified the hell out of it and added their own English influences to it. Led Zeppelin wasn't the 1st of the English bands to do this, but they were the BEST. Nearly their entire 1st album was heavily blues-inspired, but they turned it into something that hard rockers have loved ever since. They were a very special band indeed...

    Welcome to the Rabbit hole of Zeppelin. Be prepared to expect the unexpected. Their creative uniqueness is what makes them the greatest band to ever grace the stage. Jimmy Page ,Robert Plant ,John Paul Jones ,and John Henry Bonahm. 4 master musicians each a perfectionist and the best in the business. You will hear Rock, Soul, R&B,Blues, Folk, heavy metal, Pop, Funk,Reggae, and even a bit of Country. So here’s a few suggestions: The Song Remains the Same/ The Rain Song live 1973 MSG, Since I’ve been loving you, Dazed and Confused, Whole latta love, No Quarter all from the movie soundtrack The Song Remains the Same filmed live at Madison square garden 1973. If you want to hear early 1969 first ever recorded for Denmark tv teen club this is raw video of their first live show billed as Led Zeppelin

    Alex Hefner said, "How did they make the harmonica sound so bad ass?"
    The harmonica was run through the same effects as the electric guitar. It was harmonica + distortion and reverb. Also you will note at the end the guitar part was over dubbed with the recording of the guitar played backwards.
    Yes the song is about a flood, I think its like an anthem for all ordinary people who survive a natural disaster. The part where Plant was singing "go to Chicago sorry I can't take you along" is really gut wrenching. Its about a man who has to leave to find work to support his family who are now homeless.

    I'm disappointed you haven't gone down the rabbit hole for this band. At some point you have to react to the live 2007 Celebration Day concert of "Kashmir" held at London's O2 Arena. It is the GOAT rock song by the GOAT rock band! If you don't do it, it was your chance to see history. Masterful video, engineering, sound and performance. The original drummer, the late John Bonham, was replaced by his son, Jason Bonham, and he just kills it! Your channel isn't complete until you dive into the legendary Led Zeppelin. Enjoy!
