Merlin and his Dad are both world class scientists and simultaneously have that rare quality of doing their own thing despite already being at the top of academia...not following the well trodden path in the ivory tower, but creating their own vision and taking the risks that come along with that. Definitely a special family.

Four lines from the end of ‘A Scapeshifter’ his Dad was 21. He also gave a good talk at his Dads 80th party on the 8th July 2022. An interesting family, and his book is definitely worth reading.

Will this be showing in the UK? This film is as mysterious as the fungi - is it an experiment in fungi-like marketing where it’s spreading secretly and organically?? I’m imagining it’s not really myceliuming through little indie cinemas if it’s meant to be shown on an iMax though. I really want to see it!
They certainly do break down wood, i had to have every skirting board and door frame in my house replaced, fungi is a costly pain in the arse, not so wonderful when it tries to destroy a 200 year old cottage and it stinks.
I instantly made a whole made up lore about this guys life and how he wanted to be a real life wizard who made potions and it naturally led to a field in mushrooms ... pun intended.
