    Megawatt charging system (MCS) is designed for 1250v up to 3000A. Completely insane speed.
    Fun fact:MCS specifies charge port location as left side, between front and rear axle, just like that yellow truck at 12:58.

And what I like especially with Mercedes (or BMW as well) you can order all the goodies or just the part you want to have, which is not possible at many other manufacturers. The customers can “customize” their cars as they want and are not forced to purchase packages which includes the desired feature, but also other stuff one don’t want to have.

      The 'brick look' is dictated by the allowed dimensions for truck and trailer, the cubical shape simply serves to offer the driver as much room as possible. Recently EU ruling has allowed for slightly bigger cab sizes, the new Daf XG series is the first to profit from that. Don't be fooled, truck manufacturers put a lot of effort into aerodynamics nowadays. The Tesla truck will certainly not make it to Europe in it's current shape as it would not be usable here.

    300A nominal only at 7:20 ?! What was Circle K thinking by choosing those crap Always-Be-Broken chargers which can't even output 500A continously? What a crazy waste of ressources for such slow chargers. Even with 800V this means only 240kW continous power which is insanely bad for trucks and **a lot** slower than the Ionity 350kW stations. Like *a lot*. Yeah there will be some minutes with 350kW (peak 500A) but trucks with such huge batteries will of course stay longer than some minutes. For me those are trash chargers and a waste of ressources. In some years no truck really will stop there for a short break.
    If they want CCS2 and not MCS plugs they should rather have sticked to Alpitronic Hyperchargers. They can output 300kW continously without any current limit.
    Edit: Ah later in the video Björn shows that shit due to missing cable cooling, what the hell.

      Hydrogen doesn't really make much sense in normal cars. Mirai and nexo don't have anywhere near the range of a diesel and finding a hydrogen station on a road trip is much harder than finding a charging station.

    • @matthewwakeham2206
      @matthewwakeham2206 Год назад +4

      Hydrogen is inefficient, very expensive and the filling stations are complex and very expensive. It's not like LPG. For a start it heats up when you fill a tank with it so it has to be supercooled first. It causes embrittlement of steel, it leaks through anything you try to contain it in and it's not very energy dense. A hydrogen fuel cell car is basically a battery electric car topped up by a fuel cell. Batteries have surpassed fuel cell cars in everything except the refill time.

    • @nickdegroot2445
      @nickdegroot2445 Год назад +3

Indeed producing hydrogen is not as efficient yet and innovation is needed there. Also the battery failures and replacements after 10-15 years are not really called efficient…
