It's a difficult question to answer because I think your use case plays a huge role in the decision making process. The Formovie is excellent for a UST. This N1 Ultra is awesome if you wanted to ceiling mount or have it on a stand. The N1 Ultra has better brightness and focus uniformity - because it's a standard throw vs ultra short throw. The tech is getting so good now and the price is coming down so again, depends what you want to achieve.
Is it possible to do a second video on calibration and measuring nits on different gain and size? Was 135nits on 150"? I think a lot aren't believing it can be 4000 ANSI and probably ~2500-3000 in reality.
More direct daylight situations would be ace, as it doesn't matter on exact ANSI imo but as long as it looks ace as a TV replacement without being washed out
As I have said, I'm not considering this projector for a TV replacement personally - and I decide how I want to review these things - to me this for a light controlled room and if you want it for a casual ambient lit place, get a UST.
I do this test on UST projectors only as above. My screen is a 100" Elitescreen Aeon CLR so it's already going to be blocking some light coming from in front as its designed for UST screens.
@Build Montage so alr screen for any projector is worth the buy regardless? I plan to upgrade especially to a ust but for time being I have a long throw will I even see a difference?
Both are gone now, but yes, it was all I had, but worked incredibly well, even though it shouldn't have.. the brightness of the projector combined with the ALR properties was a very unexpected combo - not that I would recommend it but thats what I had at the time.
As you mention it in the video: you should not only compare the projector with its initial Kickstarter price of $ 1099 but also with its normal price of $ 2299. How would you rate it compared to this final price?
I have ordered one, the waiting now begins :) We have an LG Dled 65GX downstairs and 80% of the time we watch tv during the night and more or less only movies and series. So I thought what the heck, lets try it out. Will be ordering a 95" motorized tab-tension ReAct screen which I will build in a "box" to have a stealth setup Have been looking at the formovie theatre but that is twice the price(considering the kickstarter price) to get here in Sweden.
Downstairs I noticed it in a bright room but upstairs I tried to get it very close to the edges so I didn’t notice it at all - as u can see from my demos, there is no modification of the image for the video.
Thanks for the review! I know it’s advertised as 4000 ANSI lumens but is that actually true? Have you measured the output? The reason I ask is an image at 4000 ansi lumens should be highly visible during the day and this looked washed out. Plus companies tend to lie about this.
I measured 135 nits coming off my .9 gain clr screen. The image downstairs, I had a LOT of light in the room - I didn’t film at night, it was around midday and I have huge windows in an open plan. Also the lens I was using to film is f1.7 and I didn’t raise it when I was recording from the previous evening so the image was a little over exposed but I was on a deadline so I had to use the footage. So yes, probably one of the brightest projectors I’ve used but still I would recommend in a light controlled room. If you want to use a projector with ambient light, go for a UST.
@@LuisAlberto-obi1 Its almost impossible to get the reading from the light source as the tests are usually done on the light engine outside of the casing etc. But reading off the screen itself during the calibration I was getting that reading. It is bright, no doubt but of course you lose light as it travels from the source to the screen etc. Either way... for $1099 not bad!
Thanks for the review; how does the projector behave with 24P movies? Does it always convert to 60P? 24P Videos are smooth or do you notice stutter or other glitches?
It was super smooth. From my player it was showing that it was playing in 24p natively - but I haven't confirmed with JMGO if it does do variable refresh rates - to my eye it felt like it was displaying a native 24p refresh - so it was very smooth in my eye - the demos should give you a good indication of that. If it wasn't I would have expected more jutter from my camera which usually happens when it's at 60hz vs 24 - My videos are filmed in 24p.
No because it's a different use case, different technology. It's not a fair comparison because it doesn't have the challenge a UST has of pushing an image up onto a wall at an acute angle - it can push it straight ahead, but then you need to find a place to mount it. Image wise they are similar but the Formovie has the Dolby Vision engine built in and also the brightness uniformity on the JMGO appears better - because its not a UST - it's a real trade off. Watch my Formovie video to see what i think of it.
Do we have any projector screen size calculator which have specs already for this projector.. or what would be the ratio? I just would like to measure if my room is big enough to get 150" picture out of it. Thanks!
I don't think it would have the focus ability for 150". This is just my opinion and I could be wrong. The ratio is 1.2:1 so you could work it out from that - multiply the screen width (not diagonal) with the ratio of 1.2 and that will tell you how far back it needs to be.
I would say I liked the colours better on the N1 Ultra, but overal image probably was a little better on the Nebula - but also it's much more expensive. The Triple laser is a huge bonus I will say for colour reproduction/accuracy.
I have to try and remember the picture in my mind. Did u see the review I did on the Cosmos? I think I prefer the triple laser but I remember the Cosmos being a very good image
@@BuildMontage yes i did see your review, i watch everything you post :)) As a matter of fact i am planning to build my own home cinema, And was thinking when the time comes, which one out of the two should i pick. Because i deffenetely want laser projector. thanks for your reply!
@@BuildMontage I did, although it's hard to tell...the old problem of looking at a video image on one screen, captured by another camera recording another screen. It did look good. It's the only complaint I have with my Optoma CinemaX P2. The blacks could be better.
@@petebrown6356 Im not sure what else I can add here - the video is as close a representation to what I can see with my eyes. I have tried to expand as much as possible on the features etc - but I havent compared it to any other projector.
@@BuildMontage do you have a screen with a jet black edge/border? Seeing the edge of the screen as part of the picture can contrast the black level of the image.
How does this compare to the Vava Chroma in practice? It's hard to believe the 4000 lumen claim considering a lot of generic brands exaggerate and then backpedal after release. Can you test the actual light output?
OK so it's not really appropriate to compare it with a UST - it's a standard throw projector, so better focus and brightnes uniformity, especially in the corners of the screen. I should have included my readings from the calibration since I've been asked so many times - I didn't read the lumens output, but I did get 135 nits off the .9 gain screen which does indicate that it is a very bright light source. This was after calibration as well so it did lose a few nits but the image was corrected. To give you a comparison, my Epson (which is considered a bright projector) gives me about 75 nits. So, while there is marketing hype around numbers, I still think it's a bright light source no doubt.
If that’s the case you would have to align it exactly where it needs to be. I was able to position it perfectly, however for demonstration purposes I intentionally showed it slightly off to show the auto keystone.
Does it have a blue tooth audio out? I have found with my LG portable laser protector, that this is a must have feature. Makes for a very easy setup. Small blue tooth speaker for the bedroom so your kids don’t hear you watching after bedtime, big Bluetooth speaker for back yard movie parties. Running audio cables sucks for portable solutions.
@@BuildMontage Thanks! obviously for permanent installations this is not an issue, but for mobile set ups, this can be a key feature. A small high quality BT speaker can provide great audio without anybody else in the house knowing you are watching a movie.
just 1 question. If this is a Laser projector but not a short throw then how woul you keep from burning your eyes out if you walk in front of the beam and accidentally look into it?
It has instant eye detection and cuts off the lasers.. It is no different to any other laser projector in that regard and has to adhere to safety standards.
@@BuildMontage I have an Epson 5030 now its 13-foot throw to the screen set at ceiling level and of to the side I use its shift ability so every time any one walks between the projector and screen it will shut off? and how long does it stay off?
Nice Video! How does the JMGO N1 Ultra compare to a 4K ULED TV? Also would you say that the JMGO N1 Ultra is at least 80% of the picture quality on a good 4K ULED TV?
I wouldn’t compare it to a TV period. Different use case, different experience, certainly the image quality is great but an oled TV can beat out a 200K dollar projector so it’s really unfair to try to compare. You need to weigh up the pros and cons of both and decide which suits your use case the best. The review is the review and I do it in such a way so you can see how it performs without any bias or comparisons. I know that’s not likely the answer you wanted but you need to ask yourself what are you after, big screen? Awesome black levels? Portability? Day time viewing? Cinematic viewing? Etc etc
I believe it is a pixel shifting projector, however, you would be hard pressed telling. It's a certified 4K projector - the image is extremely good and I've review plenty of projectors on the budget end - this thing is nuts!
Dear Tony; I'm sorry for asking about this PJ a long time after you've reviewed it, but do you believe this can be a REAL HT projector? I currently have the Epson 5040ub and want to upgrade to a solid state PJ, first my choice was the BenQ 4550/W4000, but after reading reviews I kind of gave up because of low contrast and not so good black levels. I've read a lot about the N1 Ultra and it really seems ok, but I still wonder if it is a REAL HT projector and not only a "lifestyle portable" one. I worry mostly about contrast and black levels, although there has been complaints also about speckle and light bleed on the lens. Well, I live in Brazil and we do not have the option of return here, so your opinion would be extremely valuable to me. Thanks a lot and congrats for your channel and all the amazing reviews!!!!
My review stands as it is. The biggest drawback from this being a home theater projector is the lack of optical zoom and lens shift. This definitely punches above its weight but these two things mean you must position it perfectly. I’ve seen no laser speckle from my unit - I think maybe another reviewer must have mentioned it - I don’t watch other review videos - but my unit was fine.
@@BuildMontage Hi Tony, I have the same combo as the gentleman above (tw9300 since I'm also an Aussie in Sydney 😉). The suggested N1 throw distance for my screen size at 120" is 3.1m but I would prefer 4.1m. I guess this means the sacrifice here would be reducing the picture size by 25-30% via digital zoom to use that 4.1m throw - if that is even an option? (and therefore reducing the effective resolution by the same amount?). I guess going that route that might make it about equivalent in sharpness to the 9300 or 9400 anyway do you reckon?
Just saw a very detailed review on the N1 ultra, most of the claimed performance figures hold up well against the manufacturer claims however there was serious speckle issues with all types of screens except when used with a rough wall😮I am awaiting delivery as I ordered based on reviews, any one received their post production model and any issues??
@@BuildMontage thanks for coming back to me, I understand reviewers received Prototype's, I hope the production model's have the same performance, the joy of kickstarter supporters👍
I don't believe so no. It has a triple laser light source but the HT5550 has some cinema centric features which make it a better option in some cases - lens shift etc - this one requires keystone or accurate placement to ensure it fits on the screen. The colours on this N1 Ultra are fantastic though.
On paper it seems low, but have a look at the demos in my video. Not edited to look better. The black levels seem pretty great considering - I used this projector a couple of weeks, and before I put my JVC NP5 in yesterday, I was using it in my dedcated and completely dark room - and it looked very cinematic.
Thank you. Not really in the same class of projector. I did a review on the x3000i -ruclips.net/video/3y6iK0liWCE/видео.html very impressive projector. The N1 Ultra has insane colours and brightness though I will say..
There wasn't too much to say. I wasn't able to get any where near 110% of BT2020, but that is the same for projectors much more expensive, but I didn't share all of that in this video because in past videos where I share calibration information, usually that's where I'll see a big drop off in the video where people click away - so I tried a slightly different approach and try to show the projector with example videos, to give people a good idea of how it looks. Colour accuracy is really only relevant when you calibrate with a sensor. If you are worried about that but have no way to do that, I think you would be wasting your time wondering about it. This projector HAS colour correction tools built in so you can use a sensor and calibrate it to have a very cinematic image. I don't know how it compares to every model so I just try to show each projector in the best possible way so people can make up their own minds.
@@BuildMontage thank you for the elaborate response. Right now this projector on kickstarter is priced to compete with the likes of color calibrated 4K projectors like Benq ht3550 and I’m just trying to find out how well this is positioned apart from the marketing campaign around.
Wow $1,099 for a triple laser 4k pixel shifting projector! Is 100" the maximum for best results? How does it compare to the 1st gen Vava 4k? (I have the black version). And when do you think it will be shipped out once you order w/in 48 hrs of launch? Thanks!
It goes much bigger than 100” - that’s just my screen size. I had it easily at 130” when I was testing in my dedicated room (no footage as I couldn’t mount it anywhere!) No clue on eta but when the Kickstarter goes live it will be in there. Be sure to check back to the video - I will have links.
Ive answered this question many times in the video comment section :) Short end of the story - they are not the same category of projector. One's a USt the other is a standard throw. So there are pros and cons to both. Maybe watch my Formovie video as well :)
They sure are - I have 3 different Valencia's in my home theater, upstairs theater - I have plenty of them in my videos - I'm also a dealer for Valencia in Australia :)
@@BuildMontage what are your thoughts on their Vegan series? Are perforated seats a must for breathability? As an add-on they make the Vegan chair very expensive. Thanks!
I am going to reward you and your great review with all the questions that were triggered from watching it (lucky you!) 1A. I have never participated in a purchase from a kickstarter campaign. Although i've learned that many of these products start out selling this way, Im a bit uneasy about my first experience. Anything I should be concerned about? 1. What triple laser projector currently on the market would compare to the image quality/brighness of this one. I was currently deciding between the Formovie Theater and the AWOL LTV-3500. 2. What I dont see is a projector calculator to tell me what is the range of the lens. It appears to be fixed at one ratio. What distance would the projector have to be from the screen to get a 80", 100" and 120" diagonal image. Thanks. 3. 3D usually works best with a higher lumens projector. How good is the 3D mode on this projector. Does is use DLP-Link technology for the glasses. 4. Although this is advertised as a 4000 lumens projector, there is a foot note that says that the CVIA lumens measures at 2200. I could not find information on what CVIA means. I thought ANSI was the overriding standard for light measurement. Also have you tested the light output with a meter. If so what were your results. I know ....many questions. Thanks.
Hi Bruce - I'll answer what I can: 1a) I can't answer that for you - risk must be assessed your end - however JMGO have a proven history delivering on kickstarter - and it's a real product (as you can see from my video) so the risks in my opinion are low. 1) I don't think its fair to compare this to a UST - they are used in different ways and each have strengths and weaknesses more to do with the form factor. I would use the N1 as a standard projector in a dedicated room vs the Formovie which is better in an ambient light situation as a UST. 2) You can use the throw ratio of 1.2:1 which means you multiply the screen width by 1.2 and that's how far it needs to be for a minimum throw distance. I don't have any further information on that I'm sorry - possibly send JMGO a msg. 3) 3D is untested - I didn't get any of the glasses with them - but currently only supports local sources of playback (blue ray player etc) 4) I didn't measure the light engine, I measured the nits off the screen which is a measurement I rely on more. I got 135 nits off a .9 gain 100" screen. Which is VERY bright. My JVC NP5 in HDR produces 111 nits but on 120" - so I would say that the N1 Ultra is very bright regardless of whether it's 4000 lumens or 4 billion lumens - I tested it after calibration with my sensor at 135 nits. Hope this helps.
@@BuildMontage Thanks 🙏 so much brother for you prompt response. You gave me back much more than expected. Very much appreciated. SUBSRIBED!! You do a great job!
Ive done a review on the Horizon pro. I don't "compare" projectors - I get asked this a lot, but it's impossible and would take forever to compare every model with every other model. That is why I try to make my reviews as informative as possible and show them in the best possible way. If you check my channel you will find my review on the Horizon Pro. I will say that both are good projectors, but at the moment this one definitely stacks up as one of the best Ive seen especially for 3 laser and the price.
@@BuildMontage i understand but seeing the jmgo directly places this as a competitor with xgimi horizon pro it would make sense to have some comparisons
How does this compare to say the £4300 Epson LS12000? In terms of cinema picture feel and movement etc? It would be an amazing feat to compete at this size and price point.
It's not a fair comparison. The LS12000 is a proper cinema projector - has a colour filter, lens shift, lens memory etc - and I would suggest that the image can go bigger and better at distance than the N1 Ultra - that being said for the price of an N1 Ultra, you are getting an INCREDIBLE image. I tested mine out extensively before I made the video.
Your reviews are extremely well done, thank you for all the work you put into them. I watched another reviewer who reported seeing severe speckles with his N1 ULTRA. Did your copy of the projector have this issue?
@@BuildMontage Thanks for responding. I'm so glad to hear that your N1 didn't have the speckle issue. I'm a backer on kickstarter for the N1, & I got a little nervous when I saw this reviewer who shared your opinion on the N1, except his unit had severe speckles. He has reached out to JMGO for a replacement unit to determine if he just happened to get a faulty copy. 🤞 ruclips.net/video/dHIejabFLYU/видео.html
I'd like to see a test, how close you could place it in front of a wall and projecting the picture really steep vertically on this wall. How is the projector handling it, when you try to make kind of 'ultra short distance beamer' of it.
Hey mate, great review. I have a uhd50x which has had alot of issues and I'm getting a refund. Due to my space I was going to get the uhd55 to replace it as specs are better and throw distance is the same. It would come to 2600. I'm really tempted with the jmgo, it looks like it has everything better, and is nearly 600 cheaper at the moment. Personally, what would you go for? It says local delivery starts in May, so just worried it may take a lot longer to arrive... never done kickstarter before.
Uhd55 contrast 1200000:1 97% color accuracy. I know companies lie about specs, my other optoma had bad black levels, so it sounds like the black levels on jmgo are alot better, well hopefully. I think after your review I'm going to cancell the uhd55 and go jmgo!!
I don’t recommend directly for anyone to buy it, I just try to show the honest truth and let people make up their own minds. :) I think it’s a fantastic projector for the price that’s for sure. Hard to believe actually it had a triple laser and is super bright for that price.
Here's how its worked for me the last 2 campaigns i did. They took my money, then all i got for the last few years were generic emails. Never received product.
Too late now as it’s been boxed back up - I don’t usually read the light coming from the lens, but I can tell you the screen has a .9 gain and after calibration at 100% brightness I was getting 135 nits off the screen which is a lot considering I get around 75 nits from my Epson which is a bright projector.
No Netflix? No problem. As Chromecast is already built in I would run Netflix on phone or tablet and simply click the Chromecast button to send the content to the projector. No extra dongle like Apple TV or Fire Stick needed. Anything wrong about that solution?
@@BuildMontage FYI and enhanced knowledge: Lately I told JMGO this solution and I got the answer that this won't work! JMGO's answer in detail: 'Hello Christian, We appreciate your suggestions. But I am afraid that's not gonna to work. According to what we have confirmed, the Netflix is very strict, which may has a limitation of Chromecast. We are still working to optimize the user experience and other details. Thank you very much again for your great support.' So a Netflix capable devise has to be used and plugged to the projector. Or did you already make the test and streamed Netflix via Chromecast to the N1 Ultra? If not would you like to try it?!?
@@christr339 sorry I don’t have the projector any longer so I can’t verify your answer. I would think just plug it into an Apple TV. That is my method.
@@BuildMontage thank you, i thougt pixel shift beamer where way cheaper, but even considering that its pixel shiftet, the offer is quiet tempting an basicly the best in this category... i think i need to compare some native beamer to pixel shifted ones on the weekend to make up my mind.
The cheapest NATIVE 4k projector would be the new Sony and JVC offerings. I don’t know of any native- and by native I mean native, not Truehd which is still pixel shift. Either way this one impressed me no end.
Very hard to split those two... both have strengths. Watch both my videos to see my thoughts - I don't directly compare as there are simply too many out there! But you would be happy with either projector to be fair.
I can’t speak to any other reviewer, but I tested off my screen during calibration and once I corrected the white point I was getting 135 nits off the screen. That is a good representation that this is a very bright projector. My Epson calibrated gets me around 75 nits once calibrated.
Love the extra effort with the intro. Captures the viewer's interest right from the start. JVC charging 25 times this projector for a similar picture quality. The JVC NZ9 is an amazing projector . For most people this projector is a must better value and also has audio onboard. Pretty amazing portable projector ❤❤♥️🔥🔥🔥
Ähm no. The JVC is way better.Native 4k, 8k Pixelshift, much better contrast. Only way you get nearly similar picture is in a non dedicated bright room. But if you pay 25.000$ for a projector you have a dedicated room with a real soundsystem and in it the JVC destroys the JMGO. Of course for most people the JMGO is the better value because most people can't pay 25.000$ for a projector 🤷🏻♂️😅
😂 yes JVN NP5 is what I’m about to buy for my dedicated room. The JMGO is insane value for money and why I got really excited for people who want a great projector at an affordable price.

None at all. But remember I calibrate with a sensor so I correct the white balance / colour temp as well as primary and secondaries, gamma etc. the fact you can actually do this on such an affordable projector to me is nuts.
No I’ve never tested any Hisense. I have so many requests from companies to review I can’t keep up 😂 as I work full time as well. Hopefully I can get the LG and the Hisense in at some point.
Wow, impressive. I just bought Dangbei mars pro 4k few months ago and I love it but this seems even better. Love that stand it's just brilliant. And how would you say the picture compares to the Dangbei?
I havent been able to compare them together. But if you enjoy it, then keep the one you have :) There is always something "better" which prevents us from enjoying what we have.
@@LuisAlberto-obi1 Black levels are great. I tried to show that with my demo videos. There is a dynamic contrast toggle, but I didnt find it made a lot of difference. Not like JVC frame adapt HDR.
It's not an apple for apples comparison. Different form factor. The brightness/contrast uniformity is better but that has to do with being able to project straight ahead instead of from a sharp angle. Both are great projectors - the Formovie has other features like Dolby Vision - and it does look insanely good for a UST. Not saying the JMGO is better, just another option - we are very spoilt for choice these days!

True4K is also pixel shifting. The "proper" 4K is called native 4K - which this is not - it does use pixel shifting technology but the resolution reproduction is incredible. The technology has come a long way. I have a JVC NP5 native 4K and while it's a lot better, it's also more than 10 times the cost and for what it is and the price... the N1 ultra is pretty great in my book.
@@izored appreciate it! I'm just trying to help - there's lots of misinformation out there and it can get confusing.. Great new tech, just wondering why they went with the lesser Mediatek soc mt9629 with 2 gigs ram 36 gigs memory vs the Mediatec mt9669 with 4 gigs ram 64 gigs memory. Also the better chip does HDR 10+ and 120hz refresh if my memory serves me well. I did notice on JMGO’s N1 Ultra page that they included an independent graphics chip which made me go 🤔 🧐 🤨

I dont have them any longer, also though more importantly, my calibration settings will not help you as it's more to do with the screen, light output and also every laser is different - so its not necessarily going to give you a good result. You need to calibrate yourself with a sensor.
Why don't you talk about the situation where the small squares constantly flicker on the screen or when viewed closely, because of the laser light source, the pixels are jammed too much, or why don't you talk about it, my friend? Please tell honest reviews!
Why don’t you do a review on it then? My review is my own experience. I have no idea what you’re going on about - don’t accuse me of being dishonest mate.
Hi Build Montage, it’s the way you described the product and particularly the speakers, it really felt like an add to me when you said that the two ten watts speakers sounded incredible for the size… and overall just the way you were presenting it didn’t feel verry objective. I really don’t want to offend you, i hope you have a good day Build Montage.
@@thor8334 I was just reading the specs. I didn’t say they sounded incredible, and I said that I don’t recommend using the built in speakers but to use and external sound system to get better experience. But I appreciate that’s how you interpreted it - not sure how else I could have presented the information. I’m an audio guy so I never recommend built in speakers but had to list them to be thorough. No offence taken, I was genuinely wanting to know because this wasn’t a paid advertisement.
@@BuildMontage i see, i interpreted wrongly your intentions and your work in this video, maybe next time i will apreciate your work for what you meant it to be.
Is this better in your mind than an UST like Formovie? Obviously there are trade offs in terms of placement but otherwise…?
It's a difficult question to answer because I think your use case plays a huge role in the decision making process. The Formovie is excellent for a UST. This N1 Ultra is awesome if you wanted to ceiling mount or have it on a stand. The N1 Ultra has better brightness and focus uniformity - because it's a standard throw vs ultra short throw. The tech is getting so good now and the price is coming down so again, depends what you want to achieve.
20 seconds in and I'm already sold...on that Akira shirt!! That's amazing!!
Absolutely. A good rejection screen will always improve over a straight white screen if there is ambient light.
Is the projector is still working fine? Jmgo O1 was quite bad, it break down a few months later.
so sorry, why did it break, was it your mistake like accidental drops etc.?
You're using a long throw projector with a UST ALR screen?
Both are gone now, but yes, it was all I had, but worked incredibly well, even though it shouldn't have.. the brightness of the projector combined with the ALR properties was a very unexpected combo - not that I would recommend it but thats what I had at the time.
As you mention it in the video: you should not only compare the projector with its initial Kickstarter price of $ 1099 but also with its normal price of $ 2299.
How would you rate it compared to this final price?
My review stands as I presented regardless of the price. 2299 or 1099 doesn’t change anything for me. Awesome projector , very bright and colourful
@@BuildMontage thx for your instant answer!👍
Сколько его реальная стоимость и где его можно купить?
I have ordered one, the waiting now begins :)
We have an LG Dled 65GX downstairs and 80% of the time we watch tv during the night and more or less only movies and series. So I thought what the heck, lets try it out.
Will be ordering a 95" motorized tab-tension ReAct screen which I will build in a "box" to have a stealth setup
Have been looking at the formovie theatre but that is twice the price(considering the kickstarter price) to get here in Sweden.
boa noite, esse valor do n1 ultra tá certo?...como posso comprar?
What is the throw ratio of this thing? How far back can it be and throw a 100 inch image? I assume no zoom?
1.2:1 throw ratio. I had it around 3m to get 100".
Hi! How much do you see the "keystone" shadows in a dark Room when the projector is not centered and straight?
@@BuildMontage Wow 135 nits is really amazing. People on AVSForum do not believe the 4000 ANSI claimed.
Is it possible to do these on a new video please 🙏 4000 ANSI should be 400 nits with 100"
Theres NO way thats 4000 "ANSI lumens" if they boldly lie about that, the whole thing is wack.
Would you say that the JMGO N1 Ultra is equal to or better than the Formovie Theater 4k Projector?
Do You know if it'll have Dolby Vision support also?
No it doesn’t. That’s more of a licensing issue than anything. Something like a HDFury will bypass that which is what I use :)
Is it possible to get rid of the red tint?
I didn’t have a red tint once I calibrated the image.
Too bad my bedrooms like 10x12 😂 I just am using the JMGO 01 Pro UST Projector. Someday I’d like to have a bigger theater tho.
How does it compare to the Nebula Cosmos 4k laser?
I would say I liked the colours better on the N1 Ultra, but overal image probably was a little better on the Nebula - but also it's much more expensive. The Triple laser is a huge bonus I will say for colour reproduction/accuracy.
Hi, is this a Pixel shifter or a true 4K projector? Thank you.
It’s not a native 4K no. The cheapest native 4K is several thousand dollars more. Sony/JVC etc.
Do you get same light leak when you keystone from an side angle as with an led projector or this doesnt leak any light on the sides of the projection?
Yes there is because it’s a digital manipulation of the image inside the display
In short terms,
how does it compares with Nebula Cosmos Laser 4k projector?
(leaving out the obvious form factor)
which one have the better image?
I have to try and remember the picture in my mind. Did u see the review I did on the Cosmos? I think I prefer the triple laser but I remember the Cosmos being a very good image
@@BuildMontage yes i did see your review, i watch everything you post :))

thanks for your reply!
question ? i hava a vava 4k laser how you can compare with JMGO N1 ? i appreciate your comment thanks
It's a standard throw vs a short throw so they have different use cases. Dark room - use N1, light room, use Vava (with an ALR screen)
How would you rate the black levels against an OLED? ...or other laser based projectors?
Not really like an OLED but it's got very decent black levels - I found the contrast great - did you see the floating apple in my video?
@@BuildMontagethat's great info, thanks so much for the insight!
2050~2100 lumens,brighter than xw5000!
Does it have vertical and horizontal shift adjustment? I want to ceiling mount but not have to use keystone.
If that’s the case you would have to align it exactly where it needs to be. I was able to position it perfectly, however for demonstration purposes I intentionally showed it slightly off to show the auto keystone.
Any idea on refresh rate for this projector? I see it has HDMI 2.1 so it can support 4k@120Hz curious if it is actually a 120hz unit.
4k 60
Does it have a blue tooth audio out? I have found with my LG portable laser protector, that this is a must have feature. Makes for a very easy setup. Small blue tooth speaker for the bedroom so your kids don’t hear you watching after bedtime, big Bluetooth speaker for back yard movie parties. Running audio cables sucks for portable solutions.
It has BT5.0 built in.
@@BuildMontage Thanks! obviously for permanent installations this is not an issue, but for mobile set ups, this can be a key feature. A small high quality BT speaker can provide great audio without anybody else in the house knowing you are watching a movie.
Any judder issues with panning shots on 24p?
Not that I could tell. The shots were pretty smooth and cinematic.
just 1 question.
Great video! Looks like an awesome projector. Is it worth the retail price?
I just bought the ceiling mount for it and will be using it in my new upstairs build. Awesome projector
Any rainbow effect with this projector?
None that I could see - triple laser reduces is but anything with DLP is susceptible to rainbow.
Etc etc
I believe this is still only a 1080p projector with pixel shifting, is that correct?
@@BuildMontage Thanks! 😃
Is the OS as wonky like the JMGO 01Pro? I was sold on it but aside terrific hardware the lacked quite some features.
No its Android - so its really smooth - did you see the video? It has all the menu options there :)
I saw no speckle. I calibrated with a sensor as shown in the video. I use an ALR screen too.

Please advise. Would this be an upgrade to BenQ HT5550, i am not good with what specs to compare. Thanks in advance
I don't believe so no. It has a triple laser light source but the HT5550 has some cinema centric features which make it a better option in some cases - lens shift etc - this one requires keystone or accurate placement to ensure it fits on the screen. The colours on this N1 Ultra are fantastic though.

for cinema, contrast is a bit low, what do you think? compare to others with 1k-2K :1 contrast ratio

In terms of the review, can you compare the quality against other devices of similar price? Or where it stacks against devices at around $5k?
Very comparable. It’s a difficult question to answer. We have so many options to choose from.
You mentioned very little about the color accuracy and coverage. Any idea about that ? How do this compare to BENQ HT 3550?

Thanks.
Hi Bruce - I'll answer what I can:
1a) I can't answer that for you - risk must be assessed your end - however JMGO have a proven history delivering on kickstarter - and it's a real product (as you can see from my video) so the risks in my opinion are low.
3) 3D is untested - I didn't get any of the glasses with them - but currently only supports local sources of playback (blue ray player etc)
4) I didn't measure the light engine, I measured the nits off the screen which is a measurement I rely on more.
Cvia is a standard in China, approximately 1 ansi equals 0.59 cvia
It supports 3D, and DLP standard 3D glasses are sufficient.
Did you have a chance to compare this to an xgimi horizon pro. Especially the real brightness. Is it better or same as the xgimi horizon pro?
@@frhejfewfwqe-jr5lv There will be toned of videos on each. Compare away. That would make sense.
How much distance to throw 110 inches?
The throw ratio is 1.2:1 so you can work it out based on multiplying the screen width with the first number in the ratio :)
Love your channel.and work. Always a fan
I tested mine out extensively before I made the video.
weak than ls12000
Is Netflix not included?
No it is not - Netflix haven't certified it for the N1 Ultra - however you can just use an apple tv or chromecast :)
Your reviews are extremely well done, thank you for all the work you put into them.

I'd like to see a test, how close you could place it in front of a wall and projecting the picture really steep vertically on this wall.
How is the projector handling it, when you try to make kind of 'ultra short distance beamer' of it.
This definitely doesnt work. It distorts the image and also the throw ratio means that the picture is tiny and it can't focus.

That’s totally acceptable way of getting around it.
@@BuildMontage
FYI and enhanced knowledge:
Lately I told JMGO this solution and I got the answer that this won't work!
JMGO's answer in detail:
'Hello Christian, We appreciate your suggestions. But I am afraid that's not gonna to work. According to what we have confirmed, the Netflix is very strict, which may has a limitation of Chromecast. We are still working to optimize the user experience and other details. Thank you very much again for your great support.'
So a Netflix capable devise has to be used and plugged to the projector.
Or did you already make the test and streamed Netflix via Chromecast to the N1 Ultra?
If not would you like to try it?!?
No idea, interest, answer?
Wouldn't it be nice to know who is right: you or JMGO?!
@@christr339 sorry I don’t have the projector any longer so I can’t verify your answer. I would think just plug it into an Apple TV. That is my method.
The question for me is whether its native 4k. There is absolutlely no info on that on their page.
No it’s pixel shift. But it’s super hard to tell.
Is Netflix fully working on this?
I don’t believe so…
I just pledged for the upgraded one with 3D glasses and the mounting pole , added three more sets of 3D glasses as well
Expected to see it in may ..
Awesome!
I did the same, would love to get guidance on calibration settings.
This looks amazing and the price is just perfect.
I agree for the price it’s hard to look past!
JMGO N1 Ultra 4K VS Nebula Cosmos Laser 4K?
Very hard to split those two... both have strengths. Watch both my videos to see my thoughts - I don't directly compare as there are simply too many out there! But you would be happy with either projector to be fair.
So no 120hz refresh since nobody seems to mention anything beyond 60hz refresh rate
I didn’t have any means to test beyond 60hz. It could be 1080p 120hz but I’ll need to double check
They will often cheat and count the refresh frames required for pixel shifting. Shady:/
Have you tested the 4000 ansi lumens claim, other reviewers claim not more than 2800.
I can’t speak to any other reviewer, but I tested off my screen during calibration and once I corrected the white point I was getting 135 nits off the screen. That is a good representation that this is a very bright projector. My Epson calibrated gets me around 75 nits once calibrated.
Only a 1600:1 contrast ratio though...
it will be my future projector!
Not sure it’s JVC level but it’s pretty nuts for a $1099 projector! Thanks for watching as always :)
@@silentsnake1800 thank goodness you were here today to explain all of that 🤣😂
😂 yes JVN NP5 is what I’m about to buy for my dedicated room. The JMGO is insane value for money and why I got really excited for people who want a great projector at an affordable price.
@@keepingupwiththejones2933 Always try to help people 😘
Has it released yet
Tomorrow!
March 9th
Just wondering where about are you located please? Is it Australia?! Shipping for Australia is HKD1570 or AUD303 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Just NOT Fair When Shipping for USA which so much further away Hong Kong and it's Free 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I have no idea - I believe it's shipped from HK but maybe send them a quick msg.
Did you notice any abnormal extra red tint?
None at all. But remember I calibrate with a sensor so I correct the white balance / colour temp as well as primary and secondaries, gamma etc. the fact you can actually do this on such an affordable projector to me is nuts.
@@BuildMontage thank you so much for your response!
What sensir do you use to calibrate your picture?
Hey Tony, have you tested the Hisense C1 Viddà? Maybe the two LT triple laser on the market today.
No I’ve never tested any Hisense. I have so many requests from companies to review I can’t keep up 😂 as I work full time as well. Hopefully I can get the LG and the Hisense in at some point.
@@BuildMontage thx man, keep going! Im following you since the beggining.
@@CafeinaPlus4k appreciate it :)
@@BuildMontage you deserve the best 🙌🏻👊🏻👏🏻
Thanks you, back to you!
Man, what a bargain! Great review.
I reckon so….
It's $2299 now 😮
BUY IT NOW!! : BUY ON AMAZON - amzn.to/3oMRYjs (DISCLAIMER: BRIGHTNESS UNIFORMITY 95% not 96%)
Great review, thanks a lot! How about black levels? And does it have any of those "dynamic contrast" capabilities?
@@LuisAlberto-obi1 Black levels are great. I tried to show that with my demo videos. There is a dynamic contrast toggle, but I didnt find it made a lot of difference. Not like JVC frame adapt HDR.
kickstarter, vapourware.
@@BuildMontage how does this compare to the Formovie Theater in contrast and HDR pop?
It's not an apple for apples comparison. Different form factor. The brightness/contrast uniformity is better but that has to do with being able to project straight ahead instead of from a sharp angle. Both are great projectors - the Formovie has other features like Dolby Vision - and it does look insanely good for a UST. Not saying the JMGO is better, just another option - we are very spoilt for choice these days!
Tony will ever do a video on calibration? Would be nice 👍
Yes, when I get my JVC NP5, I will definitely do a video on the calibration process. It's a very subjective thing and everyone has different methods of course!
@@BuildMontage thanks tony your right there is so many out there I've tried to follow one youtubers guide for hcfr and get lost 😏 would be good if you did it 😉
Is it true 4K or emulated?
True4K is also pixel shifting. The "proper" 4K is called native 4K - which this is not - it does use pixel shifting technology but the resolution reproduction is incredible. The technology has come a long way. I have a JVC NP5 native 4K and while it's a lot better, it's also more than 10 times the cost and for what it is and the price... the N1 ultra is pretty great in my book.
@@BuildMontage you answer holds all the right informations to help in your understand and decision thanks mate. Top notch content.
Help us*
@@izored appreciate it! I'm just trying to help - there's lots of misinformation out there and it can get confusing.. I review a lot of projectors and this is the first triple laser standard throw I have reviewed - the tech has come a LONG way - all the 3 laser projectors so far have been UST projectors.
I did notice on JMGO’s N1 Ultra page that they included an independent graphics chip which made me go 🤔 🧐 🤨
Probably cost? I don’t know. Didn’t feel laggy at all to me but then again I would use my Reciever and players instead of built in. The new laser optic they developed is insanely good. Why would you be disappointed with a company trying to innovate?
@@BuildMontage I’m not disappointed just found it interesting as the China version has the higher end Mediatec mt9669 inside. Two different hardware versions make me wonder 💭 is all.
I agree that its probably to keep cost down. If it does well, then gen 2 might have that or better.
@@driver26swx31 JMGO stated that the change of mediatek processor was for Android TV compatibility.
@@adamjeffery3908 I would of rather have had them put the better chipset in with a dumb operating system than vice versa. Third party apps are easy to come by (Roku, 🔥, 🍎, 🛡️)but to put a smaller 🧠 inside for compatibility issues with old Android 11 is a mistake in my humble opinion. Btw, all that said I am #56 backer on Kickstarter, so I definitely know the value of this awesome technology as a whole. I’m a little bit concerned about the choice in not using the Leica brand optics at the last minute and now seems to be using their own optics instead. I can deal with that as well. I just hope there are no more negative surprises and it gets to me working flawlessly within a month or two. Good day.
Hhhmmmmmmm here for the research .. I dunno if this will fit..but maybe?
Fun intro. Something different and fun to see you trying new things.
side note - 2.1k view @ 10 hours - seems it is doing well!
side note #2 - how do you keep your beard so straight????
UST and Portables are exciting. The price point on this one seems awesome and I hope that pricing continues to get more aggressive over time for other UST and Portables
The transition @ 6:11 from your footage to stock footage is dope!
Thanks for watching as always. I love doing stuff like that intro - it doesn't always work but the idea came to me because I was really waiting for this one to come in.
Side note #1 - it's doing ok - not breaking any records but I had a LOT of fun making this video.
Side note #2 - I use a hair dryer and keritin spray
Side note #3 - I still can't believe how good this projector is mate ... It can be portable or dedicated with the dedicated mounting system.

@@TorinTPG wat?
@@BuildMontage RUclips made do a new handle. Wasn’t sure how it would have an effect on my comments. We all good!
Is this 4k 60hz or 4k 120hz? I have a PS5 and really hope they put the 4k 120hz capability. The projector 📽️ is awesome looking from your review but I fear it’s 4k 60hz refresh rate. Please tell me I’m wrong.
I couldn't find any indication that it's 4K 120hz, only HDMI 2.1 with a single EARC connection. From what I can see it's 4K 60hz.
@@BuildMontage Thank you 😢
It's 1399 on kickstarter
It's getting pricier with time. I regret I learned about it now and not when the 1099 or 1199 batch was available.
Yes it was a special price but it was very popular and sold very quickly.
Great review, not much info on the 3d capabilities, did you watch anything in 3d and does it require active / passive glasses and who sells them.
No I couldn’t test it out as I don’t have any 3D glasses and I personally can’t stand 3D as it makes me violently ill.
@@BuildMontage I did not know 3d could have that effect, great review, I live in Europe, do you know what voltage is required and if JMGO have good customer service, I have no experience of laser projectors but your review and the price have peaked my interest for 4k /3d use.
@@columcreaven8860 I think it's 230v 50hz. And yes JMGO have been around for a while now with several successful projects. 3D supports local 3D sources including Blu-ray 3D

😂 thanks for watching mate.
Please share calibrations. Save the rest of us some time.
I dont have them any longer, also though more importantly, my calibration settings will not help you as it's more to do with the screen, light output and also every laser is different - so its not necessarily going to give you a good result. You need to calibrate yourself with a sensor.
Этот проектор лучше formovie v10?
Why don't you talk about the situation where the small squares constantly flicker on the screen or when viewed closely, because of the laser light source, the pixels are jammed too much, or why don't you talk about it, my friend? Please tell honest reviews!
Why don’t you do a review on it then? My review is my own experience. I have no idea what you’re going on about - don’t accuse me of being dishonest mate.
Why is it selling for $2,299 lol.
I think it is too high, right?
1399 now.... Not 1099
Yes, the price changed due to having sold out well above the expectation.
This felt like an ad and not a review ngl, first time watching the channel and also last time.
How so? Not paid, not a sponsored video, and pumped two weeks into it. Maybe you can explain to me how it’s an ad? I’m genuinely wanting to know.
