    Desmond is the most underrated Assassin's Creed character. Modern Day haters ruined the franchise imo.

    • @owenleal
      @owenleal 11 месяцев назад +58

      No, I think Ubisoft ruined the franchise by neglecting the modern day portion of the story and making it incomprehensible whenever they did include it.

    • @JethroBulmer
      @JethroBulmer 9 месяцев назад +30

      Ubisoft ruined this franchise. I've played almost every AC that's come out on the main consoles and Unity was a breaking point for most of the old fans. Their commitment to yearly releases did the most damage. Instead of making us wait for games and polishing them, they decided to be greedy. Ive played the three newer games too and while they're fun and big they try to do way too much and origins is really the only one I would say is close to an actual AC game

    • @MachuSayTruck
      @MachuSayTruck 7 месяцев назад +7

      I'm surprised anyone thinks of him as underrated, I fell off of AC after 5-6 games because yes, Ubi ruined it. But I always thought that everyone understood that Desmond was the single best character arc. Hopefully AAA Studios will go back to what Rockstar has always done with GTA. Release games when you have something amazing, not because the last one was a year ago..

    • @newnamesameperson397
      @newnamesameperson397 7 месяцев назад +4

      I hate the modern day stuff because it became irrelevant background noise after the first game. Ezio and the past basically stole the show and when you would have to leave the Animus it would break the flow and that was the main issue. The modern day stuff always broke the flow of the story like waking up from a good dream you were invested in.

    • @StevenLewis-y3q

    The story of Desmond, and Ezio in particular have been monumental to my life. I had recently revisited the franchise in release order from the first app the way to AC III. The impact this series had on my life is monumental, firstly, the layers of lore and depth in the world building are just mind blowing to me. And secondly, the way I got to watch those three assassins grow and change and live their lives and see their perspective on the war was just amazing. I have nothing but gratitude and love for this franchise, as silly as it may sound, it has made me the person I am today. And it holds a special place in my heart

    Lucy was planted at abstergo by William Miles on a deep cover mission. Vidic knew right from the start that she was an assassin. Vidic turned her and she became a double agent. In short the reason why Lucy turned was because she felt that William had abandoned her as she had been on her own for so long.

    They had such a perfect ending for AC III, even if it wasn’t the plan from the start, it was there. It should have been possible for William to step up and take his fathers place. The franchise is full of fathers and mentors failing there sons and students. Breaking that cycle and saving his son would have been perfect for William and Desmond. Thus letting a new one begin with Desmond as a mentor and master assassin and Juno unleashed. Wouldn’t have had to change the future games, they eventually went the route of just needing blood dna for the animus and IV was one step from that. But they wanted to remove Desmond and decided to make a poor ending to the story as a result.

    Somebody in Ubisoft REALLY fucked up killiny off Desmond….. I mean, for gods sake, he’s the youngest of the oldest uninterrupted assassins blood line!….
    They could have totally dragged the games out with Desmond reliving more and more and more memories, synchronizing with them and becoming the ultimate assassin with super human skill and alien artifacts…. They could have 100% just taken the game far into the future and had him running around futuristic cities AC style. They fucked up big time….
    Almost as bad then squandering their potential games by establishing the origin of the assassins as something so damn recent….

    The most wild and out of place piece of lore to me comes from the employee passport onboarding document from black flag saying that abstergo has been an early supporter of workers’ unions since its founding.

    This is beautifully made and very well done.
    I truly wish they kept the original Desmond story. They could have made it so much better than what we got.

    We need Patrice, Ismail, and Darby up in the studio to brew us an Assassin’s Creed game based on their previous releases. Because AC 1 story is 9/10 AC Origins 9.5/10 and AC Revelations and AC Valhalla 9.5/10 are golden eggs

    Lol I still remember that funny bit between Ezio and Caterina when she's locked in that cell.
    Ezio says something like "Stay here", and she's answers: "I'm not going _anywhere_ "

    I have finally played AC1-4 (Ezio Collection, Kenway(s) etc) and love them. Started on AC3 and hated it gave up. Went to play Valhalla and Odessy and loved em for hundreds of hours. Got a good deal on the Ezio collection and new work schedual allots 4 days off in a row so it was a time waster, I havent stopped playing them for the last 3 months. The old ACs had real heart poured into them, ambition they had pride. The new ACs look better and have smoother parkour, but thats it theres no love or care really slammed into it with the newer ACs.
    Happy I stumbled upon your video(s) a year back.

    The first ac was a test of common sense and competence… they made you really work to gather intel, you really had to listen to what they were saying or else you’d have to walk the whole map to get a get a lead
