    Watching this video made ‘upcycling’ make sense. The concept is new to me as well as thrifting. I watch You and another RUclipsr for knowledge and inspiration. Want to encourage you to continue to do you. I watch you for you and to learn from you and I don’t watch others for the same reasons. Upcycling, while I love it, makes me nervous cause I don’t know that I can fix it back😂. I’m a Sewist and love garment construction but I don’t design that way. In my opinion, you’re at the TOP with the rest of the people. I watched a former video and listened to you as you navigated through the crowd and at some point concluded that ‘you needed to do more or considered that you were not doing enough’. I think you are amazing!! I do want to hopefully encourage you with this portion of scripture…Your Gift will make room for you Proverbs 18:16. Happy New Year

    The snafuu you reached when struggling w the bottom front turn under stitching reminded me of a trick I was taught when I began sewing leather..... the first jacket I made; rubber cement! Sounds weird, but it's used in the industry with leather and it helped me out of many jams while sewing leather.

    Hi just a little info. if your machine allows you to use a walking foot or a teflon foot, it would help the leather to move more easily, good job.

    Great upcycle. Reminds me of the leather blazer I cut short to waist length. I added STDs that I had salvaged from worn out jeans on it. I also made my friend one out of her husband's jacket. That was way back in the early 90's though.😂

    You should always use leather glue and a leather needle for working on leather projects. How did you cover the tiny holes that were created with the seam ripper? Finished jacket looks great.

    • @JenRestyleandFashion
      @JenRestyleandFashion  8 месяцев назад

      Yes I thought about that but I just wanted to get it done. I have another projects and I’m gathering the more appropriate supplies. The holes were inside the seam so you can see them. Working on the left over fabric now 😊🤗

    Love this! I found a black leather long coat at the bins a few months ago. I hand washed it in woolite in a large tub (total mess and took forever to rinse out all the soap). It had a lot of black dye coming off of it, too. I just wondered if there was any red dye left in your machine? Now I’m inspired to finish it…just have to sew on new buttons, so overall pretty easy.

    • @JenRestyleandFashion
      @JenRestyleandFashion  8 месяцев назад +1

      I washed it by itself because I was concerned about the dye. I might try this again some day. The washing machine and the spin cycle I'm sure make all the difference
