A legendary game with a legendary soundtrack!
Are you still alive my friend?xd

First played this in 1993 and have loved it ever since, the graphics, music and level design are fantastic. 🚀
The best shoot'em up ever for me. I played and played again and again when I was teenager. Best music for this kind of games. Weapons system was so ingenious and original.
The P.C Engine shooters are the best.
Totally the peak of that era's style and had great heavy metal and rock soundtracks.
This game would put people to sleep by comparison.
@@bigbabatunde1218 No really, this game is pretty good.
@@robotron6420 Never voiced judgement either way on this game, just made a comparison to PC Engine shmups as being the pinnacle of 90's style shmups.
Couldn't agree more hundreds of teenage hours spent on the game and that soundtrack was gold for the day
Boss 1: "Welcome to the underworld!"
Boss 2: "Give me bullets, will you?"
Boss 4: "Hey, good shot!"
Boss 5: "Down with you!"
Boss 7: "What a grand sight you are!"
Boss 8: "I'll watch you die!"
Boss 10: "Thanks, I've really used you!"
Boss 12: "I came from the world beyond."
Boss 2: *give me a break, will you?
KirbyFan101 That was one I wasn't sure about, along with boss 10. It's rare for bosses in games (like bosses 4 and 7) to compliment you though!
Boss 10: "Fancy meeting you here!"
Spliggedy Yeah, that's the other one I was unsure about.
I always heard boss 2 as "Don't be a bully will you?"
And boss 4 as "Hey, look sharp".
And 7 as "What a brave star you are".
Never could figure out 10. "Dances really lose it". lol
Super Aleste is a classic Masterpiece with Spectacular graphics and STUNNING gameplay
Super Aleste (aka Space Megaforce in the US). One of the best vertical shooting games of all time. This game took the SNES Mode 7 capabilities to the max. Great classic!!.
Super aleste is legendary shoot em up with a legendary soundtrack
This is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING

This is the most oddly relaxing shooter I have ever seen.
hahaha, of course, you never die
@@marcogomez5119 Because of the music
This game brings me back to my childhood
As child my brother downloaded this game for the emulator and this game space megaforce a.k.a space aleste in the japanese version was the best but dissent shoot em up game I ever played on the super nes emulator. The voice clips from encountering bosses are kinda funny in this game, my weapon I used all the time was the sphere spraying balls while my brother used the energy charge laser. This game has useful weaponry and the entire soundtrack is very epic but other then that I enjoyed this game from my childhood days and now since I have a emulator I will download it now just for the sake of nostalgia from childhood days YEAH but anyway thank you for uploading this video I really enjoy watching this game YEAH HOORAY.
The european title sounds much better than the generic US title (Space Megaforce)!
God i loved this game !! Music, weapons, bosses, difficulty and speed changing were fantastic, great upload!
Difficulty??? You never die; but the game was good.
@@marcogomez5119 Wild mode: Allow me to introduce myself.
Game sensacional!!!...Parabéns!!!
Wow, this soundtrack is goddamn fire!
Up there with Blazing Lasers for me. Brilliant game, though maybe a tad easy. I used mainly Laser (2), Circle (3) and Missile (5) depending on the level.
Those cool dynamic backgrounds make all the difference.
Sound effects and graphics in this were awesome! Love the explosion sounds. But, it really needed a more rockin soundtrack to pump you up especially in the later levels! Think Blazing Lazers…
a hidden gem right here!
Not hidden at all. One of the most known SNES shooters & at least this one it's for good reasons as it's an amazing one.
"Hidden"? O_O
Definitely the best SNES shooter out there, I remember playing Axelay and thinking it was the best shooter ever, then Space megaforce came out the next month, nothing came close to this game on the SNES. After seeing this I had to dig my SNES out of the closet and hook it up, played through it twice in a row nonstop. Amazing soundtrack, especially for a cartridge. This needs to be ported to the PSP and virtual console
Sadly, I don't think that will happen, since the company who made this went bankrupt years ago. And nobody has been bothered to pick this IP (intellectual property) up and even made a sequel of some sort.
The thing with games is, unless its something like street fighter or mario, its highly unlikely it will be ported to more modern systems.
But it's too easy inject the rom on a VC for Wii. I have done many Wii VC injections (edited of course) and it works fine in the vast majority of cases, I would have to try this game to see if it works or not. Only for american consoles.
@@SilverHunterN But M2 pick the IP I think
That circle power up is pretty awesome. I like the thought behind it.
This game has very good music!!
Thank you, i've been looking for this games name for +5 year
"presented by Toho" says all.
The best SHMUP of my childhood!
Probably the best shmup on the SNES imo.
best vertical schmup for sure... several horizontal ones can compete for top spot as well.
@@wrathovgod5099 Yeah, in retrospect, I might actually rate U.N. Squadron and Parodius Da! higher personally. Still right up there in my top shmups on SNES though.
@@inceptional have you played Rendering Ranger??... it's half run 'n gun like Conta and half horizontal shooter like R-Type... I highly recommend it... and of course Macross - Scrambled Valkyrie is in the subject for best SNES schmup... Axelay is great also.
@@wrathovgod5099 Yeah, Rendering Ranger is technically one of the most impressive games on SNES, particularly the shmup sections, although it's only average to actually play imo.
@@inceptional I personally have 9 on my SNES Classic, or 8 1/2 in Rendering Ranger's case
1) Axelay
2) Firepower 2000
3) Gradius III (slowdown removed)
4) Macross - Scrambled Valkyrie
5) Parodius (slowdown removed)
6) R-Type III
7) Rendering Ranger
8) Space MegaForce
9) U.N. Squadron
Still have my original copy of this game on PAL SNES!!
Hey! This is like Zanac! one of my all time favorite nes shooters!
I just grabbed an original copy of gun nac on NES! Is it same as Zanac? it's amazing.
Compile did both, as well as the Power Strike games on Game Gear, and MUSHA on the Genesis. You can tell a Compile shooter from any other due to how they play, and the constant flood of power ups you have to try to avoid to keep your weapon of choice.
Don't forget "The Guardian Legend" on NES. Same company wrote it. Awesome game!
@@fench1234567
Yeah! I love all their shooters! They're some of the very best! 👍👍👍👍
@@ProcyonAlpha
I believe so! 👍👍👍👍
My pops bought it for me and my bros for xmas. I had it hooked up to sound system and he couldn't get enough of the explosions!
Stage 1 Amazonas
Stage 2 Space Platform
Stage 3 Music Area 6 , 9 And 10
Stage 4 Black Hole Anomalies
Stage 5 Rock Downfall
Stage 7 Asteroid Belt
Stage 8 Space Cruiser
Stage 11 Data Highway
This game proves that the "slowness" on the SNES is the fault of some companies that poorly programmed their games.
Dat Area 2 and it's music. It's perfect.
Whoa! Listen to that voice synthesis! Eat your heart out, Thunder Force 2!
A great game and rock hard with challenge and great mode 7 effects SNES style.
The "pretty face" of the Aleste/Power Strike eh Space Megaforce franchise here. A real tour de force version but I feel the enemy attack styles are not as intense as some of the other games of the franchise as the A.I. doesn't seem to bait and switch you out, attacks seem pretty standard via the enemy here. Still the effects and music impress still to this day!
I was amaze with how they manage to do all those parallax scrolling effects and all those sprites without causing the snes to slowdown which plagues a lot of games on the system. At the time i played this, the game shouldn’t exist.
Add-on chips. Super NES had em just like the NES did.
The game in general is slow paced. Compare it to its predecessor on the genesis which plays atleast 2x as fast
@@DanJackson1977 this game doesnt use one
@@daviddefortier5970 Level 11 check.
i’ve always been impressed too & it all comes down to clever programming!
one of my fav games all time alongside Resident Evil 4, Dante's Inferno, Vanquish, RC Pro-AM (NES) and Solaris (Atari 2006).
I noticed you never made use of the alt button with which you can lock your spread and circle weapons. Also the laser power up gets homing with that. And why did you avoid the power shot?
The music for this game is damn good.
This is superb.
Area 5 always creeped me out, what with that "river" deep down in the chasm. Was that naturally occurring or a part of the aliens' rock-busting machine? Either way, the way it since back and forth...still gives me the creeps :)
...someone must have tampered with the rebreather gas mix because after the first few levels the pilot apparently starts _tripping balls_ holy shit
weapons seem awesome in this game.
They were. It's a great game, one of the SNES earliest shooters and prob still the best.
This is one of the best shoot'em up ever for SNES.
So I tried it, in easy, AND, its freaking hard still.
ok so
1. I love this game to bits and I finished it in every difficulty level.
2. Nobody notices the guy here never ever uses the alternative ways of firing the different weapons. Honestly, this is crazy to me .
Is it some kind of a statement or challenge or something ?
3. Very early in his run he made his choice ... and he'll stick to either circles(3) or scatter shot(8). Frankly quite boring.
This AXELAY, R-TYPE: THIRD LIGHTNING and RENDERING RANGER.
The SNES Four Horseman of shmups.
1:15 sad dog in the cockpit.
Damn old memories 😔
This game reminds me of Gun Nac from the NES, but this game has more weapons and areas to travel to than NES's Gun Nac which has only 5 weapon selections and 8 areas
Why does the Stage 4 background remind me of Recca's Stage 2 background on NES?
Loved this. What would be the 2015 equivalent?
Frank Szendzielarz maybe Crimzon Clover?
Thanks, Laura, checked out the videos and love it already!
Excelente jogo !
I also hated the scatter shot but for some time now i've grown to love it.It has such functionality in the more dense areas when it bounces off of anything and fills the screen with bullets. And the ability to control the line of fire makes all the difference. But I only use it if its lvl 5 or 6..anything below isn't so efficient, for low level weapons i prefer the missile, multiple shot or even spread all aligned with me.the The laser is probably the most powerful weapon when its lvl 6.
Scatter shot was very efficient to kill boss 5 quickly. There were some tricks like these. Multidirectional shot was just perfect against boss 4.
@@kimarimonkutv7548 absolutely agree. But overall, you can go through the whole game with Scatter.
There's a nice collection of weapons in this game.
@will1977a Oh yeah, Space Megaforce is badass! Who says the Genesis gets to have all the great shmups? :)
Not the Genesis, but the PC-Engine... ;)
Blast Processing. :)
How could you compare this to axelay? They're both completely different, it's like comparing Darius to spriggan.
Underrated game & devs (same devs as Lunar Pool/Lunar ball, zanac, gun nac)
just like zanacxzanac
Such an amazing shooter, although I did find it a little too easy and forgiving. Plus, the powerups are so extreme that in some cases you find yourself impossible to die. Rather short, as well.
It's longer than most SHMUPS I've played
It's not short at all. But yeah it's pretty easy which is why it must be played on higher difficulty settings. I've 1CC-ed it on Wild mode & trust me it wasn't an easy task.
is this better or axelay? The discussion rages on...
LOL, I swear sometimes it was more of a pain in the ass dodging the powerups you didn't want than the enemies! Got me into more trouble than I care to remember!
lol very true - though i’m sure you found out just like me, you end up getting your favorite weapon back and sometimes getting another weapon pulled you out of the box and you discovered it wasn’t so bad afterall (but this seemed to be rare - i love my level 6 laser :)
何故この人は、各武器のモードチェンジをしてプレイしないのだろう?ホーミングレーザーモードとか・・・縛りでもあるの?
It even sounds like George Takei! Win!!
This game was MILES better than Axelay, the only game it maybe arguably wasn't as good at was Gunhed (aka Blazing Lazers).
But in any case, this game is just awesome.
@alexKrasny I believe it was Space Megaforce in the USA but defo Super Aleste in the UK
The first game I ever owned. :')
wow! you must be super spoiled! lol - you got me jealous - I would have loved for this to have been my first game!
Mode 7?
It was mad by the same guys who made gun-nac and that game was a parody of Zanac.
Stage 7 and 12 best musics
Toho is the same people who made godzilla
Late reply but this game is made by compile and published by Toho.
And Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on NES....
Why not use alternative fire?
Cool
I thought this version had 2 extra levels? Where?
Maybe on short mode. The training mode of the game, which features 4 levels coming from the normal game.
AFX fighter He's referring to the Japanese version, which is superior over the US/ PAL version
Mi best game
Bello bello ci giocavo da bambino
30:10 That blue thing in the corner? O_o
Eu adoro esse jogo muito lindo meu filho adora ver eu jogar tanto que ele fala vai dona nega vc consegue kkkkkkk
looks like gun nac
how do i save a game and load a saved game.
Marcel Moret
Late reply but save states for emulators.
Jeu fort
Similar with gun nac
looks like gunhead on pc engine ^^
+Louis !! It was made by the same developers(Compile).
+vio2112 ok thank's ;)
Please don't let an AI play...such a great game but some progg doing the job :/
@grumblekin totally ;-)
The music is really the only bad bit about this game. I think Toho probably bought some off the shelf library music.
The music is great, but not good for a SHMUP
haha to each their own. the music is one of the key elements that keeps me coming back! i think you had to appreciate music from like New Order and Electronic perhaps…
Best Game Ever.
Super Aleste. Not this player.
Anyone else find this game too easy? I think I beat it on my 2nd time playing.
It feels awfully slow-paced compared to MUSHA Aleste or Robo Aleste.
It may be slow compared to MUSHA, I know a good number of people who prefer this game to MUSHA though.
Play it on WIld mode. It is NOT EVEN CLOSE to easy.
Continue Gun Nac Nes? Mm
Musha is better
lmao
Is this god mode ? the hit box failed here ruclips.net/video/SpmEaffVnQI/видео.html
Assuming that the hitbox covers the whole sprite, which isn't necessarily the case.
Gameplay is pretty typical compile stuff its got good controls and nice graphics. But its gotta be the most boring and generic shooter of all time? I mean theres alot of generic shooters but this one just drags on and on. The music is even boring lol..
This game reminds me of Gun Nac from the NES, but this game has more weapons and areas to travel to than NES's Gun Nac which has only 5 weapon selections and 8 areas
