I have a 2000 with a rebuilt motor and trans got the whole thing for $1,500. It was sitting at a mechanic shop and I made an offer. It had 156,000 on it and now 193,000 6yrs later. The only thing I have to do is add about 2 quarts of oil every 2-3 weeks and do basic maintenance. It runs pretty good no other major issues, I love it. BTW its horrible on gas maybe 15mpg or less

I found the transmission reliable, my previous Bighorn, (Trooper, Jackaroo) I had no trouble with the auto transmission. Get a transmission cooler installed, and oil flush and filter change and it should be good for many years.
