The other states you have mentioned are smarter and have kept the ruling establishment under control. J and K has been a very unfortunate problem for India and this has extended to Manipur over the past two years. While the problems are not the same the results are very dangerous. India needs an educated bunch of leaders and a secular government. Unfortunately for us we can't see beyond the illiterate Modi-Shah at the moment and therefore a stable India has become a big question. While the GOI has been spending hell lot of money to build infrastructure in Kashmir , the people of Kashmir are hell bent on breaking away from India and become an independent country . The support to self determination rights may go in favour of Kashmiris . Why should GOI spend so much on the Kashmir infrastructure while people of Kashmir don't like to stay with India ? A good analysis. Just to add, the degradation of the environment due to unsolicited construction activities has added to the woes of the people, is also a factor resonating in the valley. Point regarding people are OK with the removal of Article 370, is not correct. The undercurrent is hamaara time bhi aayega. Under threat and use of force apparently militancy in the valley may have been put under control but unless statehood is restored, chances of winning hearts and minds of common masses are bleak. The intention of the government has to be beyond suspicion.Unrest in Leh has also to be factored in.

Rajdeep ji. I am a KP and have heard you through today. Some of take aways you pointed out are correct but some are not. For example you said that people are angry because it has become a UT. No that is not the case. Those people are angry who have enjoyed political, money & militancy power prior to 2019 and feel helpless in a UT as all the powers lie with centre. There have been issues with administration which have alienated general masses, otherwise UT period would have been a remarkable one. Second the fear in public is genuine but only for those who lived and earned by anti India rhetoric. Thrust me if fear is taken away, old situation will come back in a month and the Bijbihara cricket league will vanish like smoke.
