The house that the Day family is living in the movie looks so much nicer than it was described in the book. The poverty of the Day family places a major role in the story. Urghh...Hollywood!
Thought that same thing! Not to mention how much cooler and better looking the KC club is
Not to mention the short stature and fiery red hair of the Days.
@@madeleinec147 Agreed!
@@madeleinec147sometimes it’s hard to get the exact look because you may not be able to find an actor/actress that sells the dialogue that exactly matches the look…however, one thing they definitely had control over is the house…they were supposed to be in abject poverty…
@@ahub87 Getting the right stature is hard, but hair color isn't that difficult to alter to get closer to the correct look.
i did not have charlize theron in mind when i imagined Libby
She's supposed to be short.... they should have at least kept to that
I just read the book and my mind cast Cassady McClincy as Libby. I was not expecting this casting when I looked it up haha.
right! so dissapointing
Neither did I
I was imagining someone who looked a bit like Alexis Bledel - with red hair.
Libby as Charlize. NO
Chloe as Diondra. NO
Nicholas as Lyle. Hell Yeah
Chloe was actually great. And Corey was a great adult Ben
The BOOK CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS, tho.....Where is the trademark red hair?? *:'(*
She dyes her red hair blond in the book. Only 3/4s through does she dye it red again :)
She dyed it when she was older
+Marshanah T. I thought the same thing!!! How is he bald !!! and her hair doesnt look dyed blond -__- grrr
we need to remember this is only a movie and it won't be the same with the book, althought the lack of red hair made me sad too
She died it blonde
I feel like if they made this into a series it would be a hit
Sharp Objects was good.
maybe they saw your comment as they are developing a series now! just read the news
I'm so mad they portrayed Ben this way. And they deleted all the red-head part.
Who's red head?😕 *im sorry didnt read the book yet
@@divaaldilla7656 Libby, Ben and her mother are all redheads. The day before the murders Ben dyed his hair black, much to his mother's shock. It was a big symbolic gesture of his change.
Good book, but it looks like the filmmakers rushed to make this movie just so they could ride the Gone Girl wave.
That's exactly what they did, it's an absolute trainwreck!!!
Bryce Dallas Howard would have been a MUCH better choice for Libby.
Bonita Glover And Alia Shawkat a much better pic for Diondra.
Bonita Glover You are the worst idea of casting choices.
I have to agree with you. I love Charlize, but she's a bit too tall to play Libby. Will still be an amazing movie through I think.
+Bonita Glover or even Jessica Chastain. or Emma Stone. OR ANYONE except Charlize Super Model Definitely Not 4'10 Theron.
+Bonita Glover YES! Those would've been much better choices! Especially Alia Shawkat. I pictured someone darker and more mysterious for Diondra than Chloe.
I'm almost finished with the book and I have a totally different idea of how the characters look.
Who kills the family?
Libby or her older brother?
@@legacylo7895 just read it and be pissed off like I did. Ugh
@@legacylo7895spoiler::: in the book, Diondra kills Michelle, and a man the mom hired to kill her so the kids could get life insurance money, but that goes wrong, cause one of the kids gets in the way
I wonder how they do the whole 'little girl' stuff. In the book Libby is short, dysfunctional, and a bit of a Peter Pan - she's like a child living an adult life.
How the hell does Charlize Theron, a statuesque model pul that off? I can't see her acting with impotence, and now whenever someone says 'little girl' to her, it makes their motives seem dickish, not sympathetic.
Agree. This was disappointing
I imagined Taryn Manning from "Orange Is the New Black" as Libby.
+Patricia Rendon Cardenas agreed.
That would've been perfect.
Yes... That would have worked so much better. She's still pretty, but a bit crusty (like Libby) and not a super tall super hot model.
This was a very good book.
pruplemango YES IT WAS
pruplemango It was "meh."
pruplemango Good like "Gone Girl" was good? Because I hated Gone Girl. Would like to give it a try, but if anything like Gone Girl, I will give it a wide berth.
I didn't like Gone Girl, Dark Places and sharp objects were great
pruplemango agreed. I like all her books, although Dark Places wasn't as thrilling as Gone girl or Sharp objects.
And the people who say GG movie was better- NO.
'iwas 8 the night they were killed' , nooo you were 7 -__- that was your age in the book
Troll Ttwi rofl!!!! I literally said “no, you were 7” out loud when I saw that part
Todd Vaughan same haha
Literally what I thought. What is the point in changing one year?
They did that because a 7 yr old is less likely to remember events. An 8 yr old will and has better comprehension of things around them, hence her saying “he’s a freak, look in his room”
Rebecca Wynter
I think a 7 year old would still remember the night her family was brutally murdered. And Libby doesn’t have a perfect memory of anything from her childhood either
Just finished the book and it was awesome!! Seriously it will grab ahold of you and wont let go until the final page. The cast seems perfect after reading the book, especially Chloe Moretz and Charlize Theron. Can't wait!
I just want to hug Christina Hendricks and her character. As with the book, her desperation is so intensely sad and bleak. To think there were no other options for herself and her kids. This is the kind of story that I say scrapes your ribs. Gets you in the gut.
The whole time I was reading this book, I could picture Evan Peters playing young Ben, I don't know. I think he could of played a great Ben. He's great at these type of characters. I was hoping it would of been him.
Tara Nelson just finished the book, I LITERALLY imagined Ben as Evan Peters!!!
Furiosa and Nux... This must be the prequel to Fury Road
"we are whispering because the movie cant create suspense on its own and its supposed to be serious"
I think that Christina Ricci should have played the part!!!
That would've been an amazing cast. Amy Adams too but she's already Camille. Emma Stone might work, also
OMG YES
@@ilkim5752 I once heard Gillian Flynn say that she doesn't write sympathetic lead characters very well. I thought that Libby Day was hella sympathetic and crazy tough! Sure at the start of the book, she has given up on life. But her sarcasm and eye rolling make her somehow more likeable. To me, she's Flynn's best character!
would have been perfect omg!!!!:o
Most underrated thriller/drama ever!!!!
I saw it 3times but still brilliant!
I read the book and I thought it was really good. Does anyone recommend watching the movie? Honestly best book was Sharp Objects!
Yes the movie is really good
Very good adaption of the book! Brilliant casting and directing!
I just finished Sharp Objects today but I think Gone Girl was better
+summer block the book has the same name. sharp objects is another book by the same author
TheBookCover12
lyle was so cool and i think hoult did him justice with all the delicate features but seriously charlize theron?? but got to give her props for the incredible acting
😁
Ehh it seems true to the book but idk it bothers me how the Libby doesn't look like the Libby in the book
Yeah..would never had imagined her like this, not nearly as scruffy or lazy looking as I imagined :/ and where's the ginger haaair
I just finished the book; I can't wait to see this one in theatres. I was a fool and missed Gone Girl during its theatrical run.
Chloë Grace Moretz has a special quality rare in modern Hollywood!
+Tom Campbell yea.. she is so fuckable.
+Robert Sarlija haha yup
I am shocked I didn't know about this movie before today. I started listening to the audiobook of the novel yesterday (I drive a lot and listening to them is more convenient for me then carving time out of my schedule to sit and read, don't judge) and the whole time I was thinking, "This would make an awesome movie! I wonder if anyone's planning on doing that."
Imagine my surprise that a movie has already existed for around two years and is filled with a whole bunch of big names. Why was this not more heavily advertised? Especially after how successful Gone Girl was?
i thought chloe grace moretz'' character was darker skinned ? and chubby?
2:17 That sound gave me goosebumps !!!!!! :o
Sharp Objects movie next pleeeease!!!
+bluejay077 There's actually talks of it being a TV series rather than being a movie.
I finished that book and I want it to be a movie so bad
Over-Used scenario's,next please..Wrong cast,next please !
literally my favourite one.
They did a miniseries and it was amazing (in my opinion at least)
i thought this movie was gonna be another boring movie but it ended up becoming my favorite movie. nice work.
Is it good movie ?
I think Sharp Objects was her best work like oh my god masterpiece I really really want a movie for that one!!!
There's a tv show now 😊
I haven't seen youtube comments this creepy in a good while.
Seem's like it's true to the book, can't wait to see this.
Except the fact that Theron doesn't fit Libby's description.
Grecia Pina Well yeah, but otherwise though
***** except they missed the key fact that she was 7 when the murders happened… not 8.
Lea Thompson Pretty minor thing in my opinion, but okay
***** It's missing a lot of things. This looks like it won't be anything like the book! ):
If you liked Gone Girl - You're probably going to find this slow-paced and uninspiring.
charlize theron, nicholas hault and (my favourite) chloe moretz 10/10 would watch
If she was ate when they were killed how is she alive?
She was eight when her mother and two sisters were supposedly killed by her brother. Read the book. It's excellent.
Kamryn Koble I don't think you got the joke.
***** I assumed it was illiteracy versus a pun because that's a safe bet on the internet.
Noah Sorensen i was ate when i was killed
+Noah Sorensen but did they dieded?
Starring Beast, Hitgirl, Yellow-Jacket and soon to be Captain Marvel!
What's the name of the song?
Alice Riobueno carrion flowers by Chelsea Wolfe
Sberb Guglez Thank you!!
+Sberb Guglez Yes, thank you!! :)
If anyone was wondering, the music in the video is "Carrion flowers" by Chelsea Wolfe.
1:32 long live the king of heavy metal!! ;)
Anyone know the song playing in the background? Starting at 1:05?? PLEASE and thank you!!
Renee Vaughter Carrion Flowers by Chelea Wolfe
She was 7, it was snowing when it happened im deded nu i cant
This looks so good and it looks like it stayed with the source material. The book was amazing so I have high hopes for it.
Excepted the fact that Libby is little more than 5' and Charlize is a giant!
Love Chloe Grace....been watching her since Kick Ass
Hear me out
Libby- Bryce Dallas Howard
Young Ben- Evan peters
Young diondra- Sasha pieterse OR Kristen Stewart
old Krissi- Natasha lyonne
I had started the book but I wasn't really feeling it at the time. Is it worth the read?
Yeah, I agree. I mean it's not a bad book at all, just not for everyone I guess.
my god these foreign actors have really good american accents!
ill watch this just for charlize she is an amazing actress.
What is the name of the song played in the trailer? The one which starts at 1:03.
I pretty much like everything in this trailer (im reading the book currently) but why Charlize?? Like, I didn't picture Libby like that at ALL in the book.
I walked out on some parts of the movie but I felt like I seen most of it and still don't get it ... Can some please explain this movie ? I'm lost at what really happened to the family and why ?
Just happened to see the movie without reading the book. Here's my thoughts:
- The first 30 minutes are confusing character and time-wise. Very thought intensive.
- Do you value truth or is loyalty more important? (i.e. did the brother make the right decision? )
I have not read the book.Should I read it and then watch the movie or should I watch the movie and then go for the book?
The book is incredible!! 100% you have to read it first
Sorcha Thanks so much for the suggestion. I will definitely read the book first now.
+Elena Vanderwoodsen I haven't seen the movie but I've heard it's a tad disappointing. The book was pretty good, I'd recommend it regardless of if you plan to watch the movie (I don't)
Personally I like watching the movies first because I don't like being disappointed when reading the book first and then seeing the movie because of corse the books are always better than movies
Destiny Castro umm, the primary reason the books are better is that we create the scenarios in our head, and our imagination is always going to be way better than what they can put on screen. So, watching the movie first kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think
I'm currently reading the book and I love it so far.
They left out so many details/changed things that really mattered to the book and would have been super easy to follow in the movie….. Weird. They should remake this.
Reading the book now. Where can I stream this movie? Anyone? I don't want to ruin the ending, but the book is always better so I am debating whether or not I want to watch first then finish reading.
I know that most people hated the movie but the book is reallyyy good.
this is straight up a True Detective style movie...
jonathan atkinson I thought the same. It's probably better than TD series 2.
Love Christina Hendricks
is this good?? i wanna watch it.
When did this movie come out? anyone know?Thank you
+Rob Hernandez limited release
Thank you for the response
Cheers
Rob Hernandez is a great movie anyway
Did anyone else end up here while looking for the song dark places by Hollywood undead?
Watched the movie 2 months ago and it was awesome. I read the book and the movie is well done.
Knowing what happened to Charlize Theron as a child, I wonder how much of that experience she had to channel for her acting here..I couldn't help but think about it watching the trailer.
it's interesting since I read about this last year and how charlize picked this movie since she experienced such events in her childhood
this trailer is so much better than the last one
I love the novel from Gillian Flynn. ❤
Sarah Paulson should have played Libby
P. moon. No
It said in the book that Libby was 7 not 8 - has this film not been released to UK yet
Heh, looks cool. The idea of an underground crime solving agency made up of former investigators among others sounds clever and fairly original. Charlize Theron is a pretty good actress when she tries, she was the only reason I finished Snow White and the Huntsman. While some may not like Chloe Moretz, she's played some entertaining characters and puts real effort into her roles, unlike others who just take the money and play same old, same old. Even considering her still young acting experience, she usually holds her own well with big name celebs.
Corey Pack That does sound like a great idea, I would definitely write it down and continue refining it. My only suggestions, strictly for constructive purposes, would be:
1. Give specific circumstances for why Moretz would come to Steinfeld's aid when she's attacked. Typically, prostitutes in this scenario either run or call for help rather than intervene. Being a drug dealer too, Moretz wouldn't likely put herself at risk for a stranger. It would be more emotionally compelling to provide a history between them. Perhaps they were once friends, and Steinfeld saved her from overdosing years ago? This would feed into the connection they develop, leading Moretz to sacrifice herself.
2. Don't overdo the law's response to the FBI's level, unless they've been investigating Moretz's drug boss and her actions give them an opening. In addition to wanting to avoid arrest, she could also be a target by her boss to put her down so she can't give info. It would be a double-problem where Steinfeld is forced to run with Moretz to keep her family out of danger. Even then, it would be more realistic to keep the plot relatively local and not treat a search for drug dealers like a terrorist manhunt.
3. Make sure there's always reasoning behind the crimes Moretz and Steinfeld commit to stay alive. If they steal food, a car, or gas money, fine. If they threaten the family of Moretz's boss to keep him off their back, that's still justifiable. Just make sure there's always logic behind it, otherwise it's less tense and makes it harder to empathize with them. They could also argue about whether to do certain things, especially killing. It would be a conflict of backgrounds and values as they get to know each other.
Corey Pack Man, you put more depth into this in just a few paragraphs than Hollywood does in many movies, most impressive. Definitely keep working on this and pitching it to whoever you are confident will see its merits, but don't sell out and let anyone turn it into something it's not. Original stories, especially in the crime/drama genre are rare these days, so you have to protect this project and make sure you secure copyrights on it soon. I've experienced the misfortune of losing a piece of work I put a lot into because of someone I once trusted, I don't want to see that happen here. Also, if you can get permission from the artist, why not title this "End of Innocence"? It seems to fit the plot about perfectly. Of course, that's much later down the line, names are never the first priority. The most important thing is to flesh out your vision, bring it to life, but keep it grounded. That's what makes quality, relatable dramas. Good luck man, I'm rooting for ya :)
Charlize looks on movies:
Mad max :fury road
The old guard
Dark places
It was "alright". The book was way better and has so many details I would've loved to see in the movie.
how is the movie? worth watching?
shubham gayen yep
Looks good!! I hope they make her other novel Sharp Objects into a movie too!!
I just finished reading this book. It is insanely good and descriptive. Makes me feel the author has a few screws loose but damn it was a great book. Now its time to watch the movie.
Not the casting I imagined at all tbh. Strange. For anybody that's seen it, if you've read the book is this worth a watch?
it's great, amazing film.
You should, the book can be put among the elite in thriller industry
Watched it today it's amazing!
really mediocre compared to the book
Abby Frost yes
After reading the book I thought it would be really difficult to adapt it to a feature film.
I recently read the book is that worthy??
What a very good movie. I was surprised by the ending. Good acting. Good story.
whens it coming out
Nicholas Hoult is 25. He's not solving crimes. He really isn't. Unreal.
Peter Russo, Charlize Theron, That Girl from the Equalizer, The Lady from Drive and Nicolas Hoult. Gone watch it on Blu-Ray.
Guybrush Threepwood the girl's name is chloe grace
+Guybrush Threepwood Chloe Grace Moretz the one and only.
If u wanna watch this movie just go ahead and watch it don't read the comments before u do.
Mmmmhhhh chloe moretz....
BROTERS707 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
jaeglesbagels ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Is she even 18 yet?!
Shavon Martin yes. 18 exactly. so the fella can like her.
Rambeard the fella can do a whoooooooooole lot more. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
to read the book or just watch the movie?
this movie kinda got into me, i cried so Hard at the end,Please dont tell me i was the only one, ansonsten?
Is it worth the watch? anybody?
Thanks for showing me the whole movie. After all thrills and mysteries are boring. Now there's no point in seeing it in theaters.
Chelsea Wolfe!!! That tune is killer
The song - Chelsea Wolfe "Carrion Flowers"
the tough thing actually is that charlize theron watched her mother shoot her father while she was young. holy crap.
Okay so WTF it wasn't even in theatres?! I'm confused cause it says it came out in June but I didn't see or hear anything at all about it being in theatres and it says "Available everywhere August 7th"...what?! D:
Is this movie good and true to the book?
reginald56000 I just finished reading the book and I have to say it is. Casting choices are good though I am doubtful about Diondra but otherwise the trailer is excellent. True to the plot.
Thanks for the info ur gran i haven't finished the book so i asked XD now i know..more reason to watch it then,,thanks again..
whats the song in this trailer?
Looks like Nicholas has his ole About a Boy haircut again
Trailer basically gives all of the movie
What's the name of the song playing that chloe dances on?
What is the name the song of the trailer? :O
