Why would they?😂😂 this all is meaningless in world history. I think history was the most interesting subject in school and I think probably the most important.
This video demonstrates one thing very well. That there isn't just a blueprint to "how to exercise to gain mass/strength/endurance" there are countless ways people tried over the years to improve in this sport, there isn't just one way and you need to find what works best for you. Don't follow blindly into someone else training regiment, I mean you can if it works for you but you don't have to. Great video as always.
well it's not that simple, you have to look at the SFR (stimulus to fatigue ratio) and find the best workouts for you by applying that, you can't just do what's inferior just because it's what you like doing and then expect to get the best results, you NEED to step out of your comfort zone and find the best workouts
I never said to follow shitty workouts, I said not to follow 1 thing without trying all the others and finding what works best for you.(by best I don't mean easiest, I mean the best way that gives you better health, strength, endurance or whatever you're after)@@anomaly3215
Haha, that’s prolly why will and Jesse seem to have some unsettled beef with each other when you see a video of them training together😂, you can tell there’s some tension going on, mostly from will. But suppose you can’t fault will for that of course.

Yeah everybody don't do his training correct at all, his training defo works one of the best but you got to be on gear to recover from that especially if you doing that 3 days a week to complete failure
@@noisyneighbors1106I train 6 days a week, all sets to failure and beyond failure(low sets low reps), have no recovery issues and I’m progressing faster then I ever did before.
FYI to get the right intensity for a mentzler workout you need to be well rested for days going into it, otherwise, your body will not allow you to push hard enough
Golden era was definetly the best. These days it's all about "anabolic windows" and "scientifically proven" stuff, but back then it was just about lifting weights and getting big
Old-School physiques are the most aesthetic. No comparison with today's mass monsters. I always tell young guys that one of the best things you can do as a lifter interested in aesthetics / performance / strength is to study Old-School bodybuilding. Old-School bodybuilders were ingenious physique architects. They had a profound knowledge of the principles of proper nutrition, smart supplementation, exercise science, and muscle adaptability. If you combine Old-School bodybuilding wisdom with modern, evidence-based science, it's the best, safest, most effective way in achieving a strong, sexy, healthy, and aesthetic physique. "Vintage Physique" by George Kelly is a nice read on the topic.
Silver era tbh. Though there are some amazing physiques all the time, not just mass monsters but aesthetics. Though for naturals, honestly more is better, get near your genetic potential over a decade of lifting and maintain it and just be the healthiest, most aesthetic you.
This is such an entertaining and educational video! I’m learning a lot and appreciate how far fitness has come ❤️ and you made learning about the fitness eras fun, Jesse!
I’m traing for hypertrophy and I’m doing a little like Mike mentz and tbh? I loveeee the style, one hour of the gym. Warm up, heavy weight and repping it out
Great video as always! I know it's not as shocking, but would be interested in learning about similar historic progression with natural bodybuilding and strength training.

Dianabol was actually released in the US in 1958 and was invented by physician John Ziegler. Weightlifter Bill March was supposed to be one of the first weightlifters to use it.

Ronnie was the strongest but he wasnt the only strong bodybuilder in the mass monster era, Kevin Levrone, Johnny O Jackson and Yates were frickin strong too
Great video bro!! But one thing you got wrong was Mike controlled the negatives… after not being able to go up he would have some one help him do more reps in the negative
I've heard that the reason antagonistic supersets can feel easier is that normally antagonistic muscles resist each other a little (for example triceps resist a little during biceps curls), but since they're fatigued, they resist less than they normally would.
Even though professional bodybuilding is all about comparison, i think Ronnie Coleman & Jay Cutler both did great. Not to mention others like Kevin Levrone (1999)... these are all legends of the sport.
As Arnold said, the problem with Mentzer style high intensity training is that it's easy to burn out on it. The main difference between yesterday's bodybuilding and today's is that older era bodybuilders could only get much of their information from magazines or gym bros. Today, we have all kinds of resources, especially social media, videos, and so on. Now, we can learn all we want about proper form, supplements, and steroids. What may be harder today is getting high quality PEDs and navigating around the legal system.
if youve ever seen mike menzers workout youd know he called it "1 working set" but his several warmup sets were more intense than most peoples actual workout
Real strength is the inner strength and intelligence it takes to withstand the pressure of taking steroids that can literally kill you. There should be ''steroids kill'' warnings on literally every single superhero film that young boys and teenagers and men watch! I wish we could get that kinda world wide change, maybe some day. You are the change I wish to see. Thank you. I'm sure your mother is incredibly proud of you.

Glad Mike got the recognition he deserved. There are more to his Heavy duty training than you mentioned but nevertheless, you did great. (Side Note : Mike hated Hack squats and advocated for Normal or Smith Squats)
Globe weights could be adjusted in 1/3 oz increments on each side using cap n ball lead (round bullets.) Mike Brown made a 2.5lb "sticking point smashers' that allow this on a plate loaded bar, combined with lots of liver powder and steak and eggs; one could develop quite the physique with that tool.
There's no evidence that Reeves ever used steroids, he stated he never did and he wasn't that big; he had a swimmers body with the ability to get his arms bigger sometimes.
