That's crazy, such useful features. Kinda wish it have a Solo node & Find material in node editor feature though, but still, really great job on this editor. Still can't believe that it works with C4D's physical material, sometimes I forget that C4D doesn't ship with a production ready renderer, it's ridiculous.
Thank you, glad you like the Corona Node Material Editor (it was a lot of work to create :) ). We welcome all feature suggestions, if you have the time it would be great if you could post those over on forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=38.0 (as developers can't monitor RUclips comments, so any requests here will get overlooked - but post to the forum and they will definitely see them and be able to assess them). Thanks! Tom
Glad you liked it, and you are welcome! There's not one for Cinema 4D at the moment, but the principles of the Max one can be applied since the Corona Materials are the same (ruclips.net/p/PLt4UrWcQaAX8ccZH3arwuiqtR74EVv29d). That said, Corona 7 is coming with an all new default material, the Physical Material, which includes Clear Coat, so that's going to re-write the book on material creation some anyway (you can try it out already in the latest daily builds, for C4D and Max). Thanks! Tom
I just going to watch this tutorial. Which I am most curious about, is that why is Node Material Editor is better and faster, then traditional material makeing. I using Corona for 3 years now for work, and many times i tried to use Node editor by my own, but i found it much more difficult and much more complicated, than just put a new corona material ball, and adjust the layers like always. So, i'm curious, i hope i gonna find the answare, couse i see all the pro 3D artists use the node editor, so there must be a good reason for that. ;)
Two main reasons (you'll find them explained in the video, you can check timestamp links in the description to jump to those). First is ability to easily see the construction of the shader from a bird's eye view rather than having to hop from screen to screen and only seeing one element at a time. Second is the ability to connect one node (e.g. a bitmap with a dirt map in it) to multiple places (e.g. diffuse color, glossiness, and bump, in multiple materials) making it very easy to make just one change (e.g. change the bitmap used) that affects multiple locations, rather than having to change all those locations individually. Hope that helps, but watch the video to see it in action to get a real sense of what those two points mean! Thanks! Tom
They could make a comparison, on the tools within the materials node, from 3s max to c4d, since there are tools that are not in c4d, for example the rgb levels. Please!
Hi! Not sure what you mean by the "RGB levels" - I suggest asking over on the forums, where conversation is easier, you can share screenshots or even videos of what you mean (and we can share screenshots in return), and so on. RUclips is only good for the simplest and shortest of questions :) forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php Thanks! Tom
hello, will there be a way to have a course on creating metals on c4d with your new system. seriously I don't understand anything about IOR and reflection
We should already have you covered! See our playlist of using the Physical Material in Corona for C4D at ruclips.net/video/KRO4A1hXMkc/видео.html which includes a section on metals. Hope this proves useful! Tom
Is there a way to have texture projection be per texture? For example have a texture projected in a "frontal" projection, while having another texture be using a "cubic" projection, and have them both be used for the same material.
Hello! Yes, that it is indeed possible. You'd want to leverage the C4D's native "Projector" shader for that. You plug a bitmap into the "Projector" and from inside it you can then set the desired projection. Hope that helps! Nejc
One question on the ability of Corona's Node Editor to parse C4D's reflectance materials. I know the converter doesn't do well with these materials, but how important is it to convert the materials from an old project to Corona materials? I mean the Reflectance workflow can produce very nice results too. Do they render the same in Corona as in the Physical Renderer? Will they slow the render time? Just curious.
This one already posted on the forums, definitely the right place for the question. Just to note, this isn't actually a Node Material Editor question, since it's only a way of viewing and editing materials and doesn't change rendering; this is just a question about how Corona renders those default C4D materials. Anyway, do watch over on the forums for answers, and ty for posting there! Thanks! Tom
Sorry to hear about the problems - for any help with Corona 8, best to post over on the forums in the forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=25167.0 thread (support can't monitor RUclips comments). Thanks! Tom
Hi! Best place to ask is over on the forums, where support and the community will see the question, plus have the opportunity to share images, screen grabs, etc. (things not possible in RUclips comments) - head on over to forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=49.0. Thanks! Tom
Very nice tutorial. As a student I began with the C4D standard renderer and I worked mainly with C4d Standard materials, which I know the basis now. I am looking for a GPU renderer. I tryed Redshift but for me it is to complicate to understand their paradigm in a reasonable amount of time. If I understood well, Corona materials have the same structure, properties & behaviour like the standard C4D materials, which will be really a hughe gain of time for me to learn. Is it correct? If you say yes you will save hours of my student time...:-)
Hi! We try to make Corona very easy to understand and learn, from materials to render settings (and you can use standard C4D materials with it too, if you need to). One thing to note though is that Corona is a CPU engine, not a GPU engine, in case that is important for your decision (Corona only uses the GPU for denoising, all rendering is CPU only, which has certain benefits :) ). Best thing to do is install the 45 day demo and try it, to see how well it fits what you are looking for. Thanks! Tom
This is a great tutorial. We need more of these showing Cinema 4D. And who are the 3 people that did not like this? Boo!
We are working on lots more :) And there are always some who click on the "dislike" no matter what you do! Thanks! Tom
Your way of explaining is great 🥰
Thank you!
incredibly useful video, thanks!
You are welcome, glad you found it useful!
I think i will finally start using the node editor 😅 better late than never. Thank you guys for this nice explanation and implementation!
You are welcome! I hope you find it useful, and we welcome any feedback too of course! Thanks! Tom

This are really nice explained
Thank you! Glad you found it useful! Tom
Nice... Thanks Corona Renderer
You are welcome!
Very nicely explained!
Thank you for the feedback (which always helps us know if we are on the right track or not), and glad you found it useful!
Great. Keep them coming
We will!
very useful tutorial please make more
We will definitely be making more :) Thanks! Tom
So great tutorial! Thanks a lot!
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice tutorial, thanks a lot! Is there a tutorial to learn how to create CarPaint?

@@ChaosCorona Thanks Corona Render, I appreciate it. I'll check it out :)

I'm use corona 8 and couldn't drag the material to the node table, I don't know what is wrong with it, please help me T_T

heyy, so im importing textures from substance painter, but i dont know where to plug the metallic map
great video btw :)
