I agree with you in terms of the majority. Though I do think the *extent* of how good of plain performances are, Western and Asian, depend on the artist as well. Because *some* Western artists have had unique stages and *some* Asian artists have had boring stages as well.
Agreed! I thought nothing would ever beat the intro they had at MAMA 2016 (the BoyMeetsEvil/Lie J-Hope and Jimin did), but I was wrong. I'll never be over this performance. J-Hope coming in HARD (and dancing barefoot) like the complete Dance Captain BOSS that he is. Jimin doing his Jimin thing and MURDERING that fan dance with power and elegance. Jungkook dancing with such strength and emotion and posing at the end of it like the Golden Maknae he is. And them all just utterly performing their hearts out for every dance. That they continue to improve year after year is amazing. Much respect. Also, waiting for them to release that remix of IDOL 'cause holy sh*t, I need that version with the traditional instruments. Come on, BigHit. I'm prepared to give you all my money.
This was honestly the greatest and most epic performance I've ever seen in my entire life. They put western artist to shame. The stage designs were amazing, the outfits were amazing, their performance was amazing (except for the damn microphones), and I literally had chills during the entire Idol intro. From Hobi's dancing to Jimin's dancing to Jungkook's dancing... It was amazing! BTS don't have to say "Fuck you" to the antis. They just shut them up with their music and their performance. This was EVERYTHING.
And now the best performance ever it's their mma 2019 performance 💥 And I don't know how is gonna be like mma 2020 performance with dynamite and on and blackswan 😭😭
I'm Korean. When I watched this on 55" TV screen last night, I felt chest pain and just mumbled "crazy. . crazy. . . " in shock during the show time. Watching their perfo. in MMA or MAMA award show on a large screen is very dangerous. I was almost going to ER.

American award shows don't even come close to the production MMA and MAMA put on. They should learn a thing or two. I'd like to see any western artist fill a stage like this the way BTS did. Can't think of many that could. Honestly, after these kinds of performances, it's hard to watch American award shows. Maybe only the Superbowl Halftime show can come close. But, like you, I wish they'd be able to show the GP American audience THIS. Everyone would be shaking at these Kings.

Even if they r invited performing at grammy or bbma, I don’t think they could do much cz they need to accommodate given time slots, preparation rules n everything by the event managers. The stage manager would need to approve if they are allowed to do extra. So its a little hard to showcase this kinda performance in US unless in their own concerts. And BTS manager also need to plan & manage alot if they wish to perform like this in d foreign awards shows.

That awesome fan dance is a traditional Korean type dance. They get people complaining that they are getting to westernized now that they have gone big. Sooo they are proving to them they are not neglecting their culture.

One day after my first mv (IDOL) I watched your first reaction vid to BTS and was so relieved, that I was not the only one to go through the what I call “BTS-Syndrom Stages”…”What the actual F…? - Whoaa, how many are there? (Yes and me as well was one of the “They look like Manga characters!”) up to when Jimin’s closeup just shoved me down the BTS rabbit hole lol And thank you so much for all your reaction vids! Since I am in my late 30s no one in my family or of my friends understands my sparkling eyes when talking of these exceptional artists and their great message to the world…so when watching the content “with you” I just am so happy to share my emotions with an understanding ARMY ;-) So thanks a bunch and greetings from Germany

Okay children. I will be turning 50 in April and I discovered these gems just a little over a month ago. I too fell down the BTS rabbit hole. I asked my 26 year old daughter if she knew who they were and she had no clue. Well I’m so proud of these young men. They are truly talented and I’m trying to catch up on all their work. This performance was the greatest, so thrilled about the song selection. Loved how Jin didn't do a dance for the Fake Love opening, he just looked at the camera like, "My worldwide handsome face is enough."🤣🤣🤣 I've been watching the Idol opening all damn day, I can't get enough. I really liked how they stripped the melody for Idol down to mainly the traditional instruments as well. They never let their performances get stale.
I'm kinda salty though bc KArmys who attended the MMAs got to see this legendary performance in person, but the boys killed it! Best performance of the award show. Kind of scared of what they got in store for MAMA

Sorry not sorry but this was hands down a better performance than the AAAs the other night and the MGAs combined...the overall production value and lack of technical difficulties **cough cough** BTS had the longest performance time amongst all the artists who attended/performed at the MMAs, they’ve grown up so much! MGA and AAA are new and thus have less budget for stages like these but MMA and MAMA have been done for YEARS and is considered the biggest of Korea's year end award shows along woth GDA and arguably SMA.
@@shinryouzen It's understandable that since the two award shows are newer that there's a higher likelihood for miscalculated planning and mistakes to occur (with this year being MGAs first), but considering BTS' status and popularity, one would think that the directing staff of these events would have been more careful with their stages as they are a highly anticipated act (not to downgrade other groups/acts or anything). I haven't really kept up with all of these awards shows and such but even based off what I've seen, the performance BTS did at AAAs in 2016 was still better than the outcome of this year's event with pretty much all of rap line's mics not working properly during Fake Love smh. Despite their lesser budget, even the 2016 AAAs seating seemed more comfortable than what was provided for the artists/actors this year as they sat on stiff pedestal chairs without proper heating at the venue. But I agree that MMA and MAMA are the TOP Korean year-end award shows arguably due to their years of experience...*Happy 10th Anniversary to MMA~*
Angela Faye That's agreeable, mainly because they really messed up their mics although AAA has had technical errors for other groups back in 2016 too. So in the end, I've learned to keep my expectations low for AAA and newer award shows, they're even lucky they got BTS to perform. So IMO AAA and MGA isnt as prestigious hence I dont expect high quality performances (I even skipped out watching MGA and Soribada live since I could just watch the uploads). I do anticipate the performances in MMA, MAMA, GDA, and SMA so I tend to watch those live instead since I expect better technical control as they have handled these shows longer.
Jay Jin Ahh...I didn’t know that, I only really watched BTS’ performance from 2016 AAAs so I was basing my judgement solely on that. Also, great advice on which shows should be highly anticipated from, this is my first year in which I actually tried watching as many live award shows as possible, but I’ll take that into consideration during award season next year so I’m not having to function through my day on ~2-3 hours of sleep 😅 thanks!!

I set my alarm for 5 am so I can watch the awards and by 8:00 when they were getting ready to perform throughout the entire performance I was silently screaming so I wouldn’t wake anyone up 😂😂 I’m still not over this I watched it 4 times already 😭❤️
haha, you only noticed they were doing traditional costumes and dances close to the end of the whole segment which was prop full of tradtional korean cultural elements (the drums, the fans, the towels :D)
I love how they seem to be fragments of one personality when they are dancing. How they could all be different reflections of same person, someone who is struggling to find themselves. It's incredible the level of artistry in this performance.

Since I am in my late 30s no one in my family or of my friends understands my sparkling eyes when talking of these exceptional artists and their great message to the world…so when watching the content “with you” I just am so happy to share my emotions with an understanding ARMY ;-)

And here i thought im already above average age for armys! Im 30 turning 31. Became an army in Sept 2018, accidently.. and fell hard for these boys because of Mic Drop and Spring Day.. and continuously for their quality music and impeccable lyrics and its message. Knowing there are others like me, not being understood for actly liking these boys, i felt like i belong to a club. 😅 anyways, proud of BTS, may more good things and good music will come their way. And Good job armys! As they say, yous brought them there.
Okay children. I will be turning 50 in April and I discovered these gems just a little over a month ago. I too fell down the BTS rabbit hole. I asked my 26 year old daughter if she knew who they were and she had no clue. Well I’m so proud of these young men. They are truly talented and I’m trying to catch up on all their work. I would love to see them live. I will look totally stupid but I don’t care. I think they are amazing. Love from Southern CA

This performance was the greatest, so thrilled about the song selection. Loved how Jin didn't do a dance for the Fake Love opening, he just looked at the camera like, "My worldwide handsome face is enough."🤣🤣🤣
I've been watching the Idol opening all damn day, I can't get enough. I really liked how they stripped the melody for Idol down to mainly the traditional instruments as well. They never let their performances get stale.

this was one of the first performances I saw of BTS it deadass changed me forever. The talent, production value and concept is unprecedented.

Sorry not sorry but this was hands down a better performance than the AAAs the other night and the MGAs combined...the overall production value and lack of technical difficulties **cough cough** BTS had the longest performance time amongst all the artists who attended/performed at the MMAs, they’ve grown up so much! So proud of them and what they’ve achieved! Glad I was part of the whole ride!! #ARMYpride
@@corrina304 Ikr MAMA's high production stage value is hard to beat, then BTS will be attending MAMA at the Japan and Hong Kong shows...they must have a lot prepared considering all the hype being passed around about Jimin's Nevermind tattoo
MGA and AAA are new and thus have less budget for stages like these but MMA and MAMA have been done for YEARS and is considered the biggest of Korea's year end award shows along woth GDA and arguably SMA.
@@shinryouzen It's understandable that since the two award shows are newer that there's a higher likelihood for miscalculated planning and mistakes to occur (with this year being MGAs first), but considering BTS' status and popularity, one would think that the directing staff of these events would have been more careful with their stages as they are a highly anticipated act (not to downgrade other groups/acts or anything). I haven't really kept up with all of these awards shows and such but even based off what I've seen, the performance BTS did at AAAs in 2016 was still better than the outcome of this year's event with pretty much all of rap line's mics not working properly during Fake Love smh. Despite their lesser budget, even the 2016 AAAs seating seemed more comfortable than what was provided for the artists/actors this year as they sat on stiff pedestal chairs without proper heating at the venue. But I agree that MMA and MAMA are the TOP Korean year-end award shows arguably due to their years of experience...*Happy 10th Anniversary to MMA~*
Angela Faye That's agreeable, mainly because they really messed up their mics although AAA has had technical errors for other groups back in 2016 too. So in the end, I've learned to keep my expectations low for AAA and newer award shows, they're even lucky they got BTS to perform. So IMO AAA and MGA isnt as prestigious hence I dont expect high quality performances (I even skipped out watching MGA and Soribada live since I could just watch the uploads). I do anticipate the performances in MMA, MAMA, GDA, and SMA so I tend to watch those live instead since I expect better technical control as they have handled these shows longer.
Jay Jin Ahh...I didn’t know that, I only really watched BTS’ performance from 2016 AAAs so I was basing my judgement solely on that. Also, great advice on which shows should be highly anticipated from, this is my first year in which I actually tried watching as many live award shows as possible, but I’ll take that into consideration during award season next year so I’m not having to function through my day on ~2-3 hours of sleep 😅 thanks!!

haha, you only noticed they were doing traditional costumes and dances close to the end of the whole segment which was prop full of tradtional korean cultural elements (the drums, the fans, the towels :D)
I love how they seem to be fragments of one personality when they are dancing. How they could all be different reflections of same person, someone who is struggling to find themselves. It's incredible the level of artistry in this performance.
