"Sin música, somos seres vacíos, como un cosmos sin estrellas"
Recién me enteré del lamentable fallecimiento del Maestro John Aigi Hurn, el hombre de la trompeta de oro.
Desde Bogotá, Colombia, envío mi saludo de condolencia a su familia, a los grandes intérpretes que compartieron con él en la formidable OSG y a quienes tienen el alto honor de haber sido sus amigos.

Another very fine performance from a very fine orchestra. The clarity of sound is a wonder to behold, with excellent sound engineers to warmly thank. Excellent interpretation - Galicia is very blessed with this wonderful ensemble. As I have asked before... please come to London - you would be loved.

First, the sound recording: as with the other videos made at this concert, the sound quality is excellent and if heard blind I don't think you'd guess it was recorded in the open air. Second, the performance: also excellent, with the violins split left and right adding interest. What a fortunate city A Coruña is!

@Chris Goddard, as I wrote a few minutes ago to another commenter, Pablo Barreiro Rivas, the sound engineer, is nothing short of a genius. I am honoured to know him personally since 2009, he's the dearest friend and man. He has been defined, not by me, "a sculptor of air in vibration". When you see him at work and listen to him when he talks, your jaw drops in awe.

@@Elhombresombra Thank you for confirming what I thought my ears heard :-) Can I hear any more of his recordings anywhere?

@Chris Goddard Well, all the sound takes of "Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia" here on RUclips seem to have been made by him. As for the CDs, there are many around, you can launch a search not by composer or performer but for "Pablo Barreiro" instead ;0) One CD that you should not miss for sure is the organ recording we made in Milano Cathedral in 2009 (organist Raúl Prieto Ramírez, label Brilliant Classics 94174), it even won a prize for the sound take: it's a normal 2-channel stereo, but especially in the Danza Macabra you believe you are listening a 7+1 surround, I swear. There are many recordings made by him, especially of organ, harp, and ensemble Renaissance music, but this post would become definitely too long. I think he has been awarded at least three prizes for his work as a sound engineer, but he's quite shy and not inclined to talk of himself. He's a musician too, he composed and recorded several sections of the soundtrack for a Spanish movie. If you understand Galician language, there are two interviews to him on the web, asnovasvitenses.blogspot.com/2009/02/radio-galega-ten-un-estudo-e-uns.html , and www.lavozdegalicia.es/noticia/santiago/2006/05/20/musico-reconeza-gravado-e-mellor-premio/0003_4790208.htm . There was also a Galician radio music program hosted by him, "Concerto Popular", based on musical performances he recorded, which is available live www.crtvg.es/rg/programas/concerto-popular , and as a podcast: www.crtvg.es/rg/podcast/programa/concerto-popular . Good luck! ;0)

Beautifull indeed, as all works of Borodin , the orchestra, conductor and tempo, excelent capture of all microphones in that environment . Borodin was an uotodidact composer who was part to the Russian Nationalism composers (five group)
