I use to rock my 1 yr old daughter to sleep with this music every day for her noon time nap. It seriously helped tremendously. I almost get teary eyed when I hear this. So many memories it's crazy. R.I.P Wii forecast channel
No joke, this video made me tear up. So sad it's gone, even though I never got to use it, even when it was still on. My young mind probably thought it was just a really blah channel with nothing but weather and lists, and so I avoided it.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who liked spinning the globe endlessly. Also glad that people like you record stuff like this. It's like a time capsule.
Really loved spinning the globe around quickly, coming into random place names, listening to the relaxing music, hunting for places that it was currently thundering so I could hear the cool thunder clap sound effect. Good times.
i remember waking up, getting dressed, getting a bowl of cereal, going and watching an episode of like spongebob or something on the netflix channel, then checking the weather and finishing getting ready for school, i use this channel so much, it was the best.
I remember the very first time I heard the word "Wii" come out my brother's mouth in late-2005. I didn't know what the hell it was. He handed down his Nintendo 64 while he had a Gamecube, so at that point I was sick of the Nintendo 64, and was getting his Gamecube. I remember the night before the Nintendo Wii was put in his room. Even though all I could do was watch him play Wii Sports and default channels such as Photos and Mii maker, I was so damn excited that I had one of those moments where you close your eyes to sleep, and one second later you open them and it's morning. When I was shown the shop channel, day after day, I'd always wake up, dash to his room, and would always see new channels. First was this one, the news, everybody votes, internet... All of that stuff. Christmas of 2006, I finally got my first Wii. I remember how I was twice as excited than when my brother got one. After that experience, it was all kinds of adventures spinning the hell out of the globe on Forecast and News, making weird votes, humorously surreal Miis, scribbling on and hard-boiling my family on the photo channel, and going to crazy sites on Opera. When I got the message on the Wii announcing Nintendo was closing those channels when I was 13 years old, I never thought that day would come. I cried listening to the menu on the forecast channel. To this day, I still have a Wii. Three of them, actually. I never got a Wii U. I have a 2DS XL, a PSP, my laptop, my three Wii's, and that's it. Two of my Wii's are modded. Today I got the Forecast, News, Internet, and Everybody Votes Channel working via RiiConnect24, and I took a trip through the memory canyon. Even though RiiConnect24 is a thing, this, along with the other three videos of the channels, is still extremely valuable. This was the final day of official service. I kind of like the Gamecube game selection more, but the Wii was the first console I have seen of birth and death within 11 years of a conscious memory (As in not being too young to remember things like the Gamecube. I was 1 when the Gamecube was released.)
Switch is missing out on these things that made the wii so memorable. The music themes, the channels, it feels so empty to just load up the switch menu with a black background, silence, and just the game art on screen.
i remember me and one of my older friends used to do mock weather forecasts using this channel. such fond memories. its a shame we're most likely not gonna see this out of a mainstream console again
The music itself and just seeing the interface. Remembering thinking this was super high tech at my younger age using it. Back when I had friends in other states, checking their weather, wondering what kind of a day they were having. Or at night, to help me sleep i'd find a place with rain and listen to the thunderstorms with this melody. On sad days where I was down, hearing this music would help me get out my emotions and relax again. Many times I used to write and to get inspiration would use this for background music. It was hard because we had DSL which was just fast enough to load apps, but never fast enough to play online or even watch youtube. So before I discovered videos with atmospheric sounds or the lofi a lot of us listen to today. The nostalgia I'm getting from all this kinda pulls at your gut and makes you feel teary eyed...but like reading these comments is just wow. So many great memories with it! It truly was legend
This brings back so much memories, there was a huge storm once and I was terrified of thunderstorms when I was a kid so I would always check this weather channel while the ambiance of the music calmed me down from the storm outside, it was such a peaceful moment....
I wish I could just use this channel one more time.. it prob sounds weird but growing up I used to love scrolling through this channel aimlessly looking at different cities and imagining what life there is like and what people are doing there.. and always wondering why japans icons were different.. now I’m grown and this channel will randomly cross my mind while zoning out on the busy subways to work or before I sleep.. miss u Nintendo wii days
@@ygt626 Yup that will make it one step easier. There is a YT channel that tells you exactly how to do it, you need a PC, sd card, USB stick, and finally a Wii! I use the forcast channel all the time now, its great! (I was to young at the time to use it before the shutdown.)
God I miss those days, this seriously takes me back to being a kid first getting the wii and messing with all the channels The music for the forecast channel always made me feel so nice

Oh man, this is so nostalgic to me. I remember using this channel whenever I was bored. I would always spin the globe very quickly and hear the sound effects when zooming in and out countless times, all while still wanting to know what the whether is like in different areas of the world. And that music....wow.
I remember when I first connected my Wii to the internet, this was the first channel I went to just to try it out and man, this channel had everything! It is such a shame that they shut it down and honestly there was hardly a reason to other that Nintendo wanting to move on. I really hope Nintendo does something similar with the Switch, it is always nice to know the daily forecast. This channel had such beautiful music, the stuff you can go to sleep to no annoying guy telling you, you can just read it at your own pace, really this channel is missed dearly. Being able to know the weather of any given location on earth is something that we all need. I know we have cell phones and other devices that can do the same thing, but there was a charm that the Wii Forecast channel had to it, be it the calm music and peaceful vibes to the simplistic design nothing beats the Wii Forecast Channel.
When RiiConnect24 brought back the Wii Channels years ago, I couldn't believe how happy I was just to look at the weather. I use this channel far more now than I did when it was actually running on Nintendo's servers, it's crazy.
I remember once I used this channel for a weather homework for my science class back in middle school. Also used to listen to the peaceful music it played all the time. I miss you weather channel 😭😭😭
This was so ahead of its time. Before using just a smart phone now to check the weather. or just seeing what’s the weather in another country. This was a fun channel on the Wii to just play around with. And the music is just an added touch.
I remember the Wii being the very first console I bought for myself at 12 (Christmas 06). It’s weird how I loved it then grew away from it about five years later. Well…it’s been about 17 years now, and I found my Wii recently. Just loading it up and looking at what I use to play and all the Miis I made definitely made me cry.
As soon as that music kicked on, its like the Weather Channel was saying to you, "well, it's been a long run, my friend. I'm glad I could provide you with your local and international climate. Thank You for stickin' around all these years :)" *YOU"RE WELCOME WEATHER CHANNEL I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU!!* *tear*
Totally forgot about this till I randomly I randomly remembered. I legit shed a tear from this vid, I remember this channel as being so peaceful and also it was one place I could just clear my mind from what was going on that day no matter how bad it may have been. The Music and the whole vibe of the channel is just unexplainable to describe in words and this will always bring memories back of my family. Thanks for the upload😞😪
The nostalgia hits me so hard... I remember as a kid that i used to go through the globe and that was my fav part of the channel xd, but now that i cant experience that anymore, this will always be my favorite default channel of the wii. Rest easy Forecast Channel, 2006 - 2013.
They nailed it with this. Everything about it is so gentle, from the fonts, to the sounds. They seriously underestimate how many people would use this if they brought it back.
The Wii was a worldly console. It felt like more than just a gaming console, more-so a globally used system that brought the world, us, together. From Japan, to Britain, to the United States, everyone was using this console for more than just games, but as a system full of life and wonder. Nintendo's magnum opus, if you will. There's something oddly comforting about the Wii, yet with that comes an underlying sense of melancholic nostalgia, a relic of art that will always remain in the midst of history, the midst of time; there will never be an era like the Wii era again, there was something tremendously special about this device, and there still is. There is nothing quite like the Wii, nothing quite like this beautiful piece of technology, that lets us sit still for a moment, all of us, to just let us experience the wonder of this masterful system. Watching this, I miss that time, I miss the Wii, wholeheartedly. And looking back, I would just love to go back to that era, as a kid, sitting in the living room, with my family or by myself, simply just absorbing myself in the sheer adventure and depths of this console. If I could live in that era forever, I sure would. The globe depicts my love for the Wii perfectly. It went beyond a gaming console, and it became Nintendo's most ambitious and most artistic console to-date, with such detail and such life that made it flourish. It's an era that proved gaming to be more than just gaming. And ultimately, all l I can say is that I am glad to have been a part of it, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that.
I wish they would re-release this for the Wii U. Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen. I use to spend so much time just listening to the music and exploring. R.I.P Nintendo WiFi :(

It’s amazing that something so mundane like a channel for weather could bring back so many memories and make you feel such heavy emotion. I remember when I would spend the summer at my dad’s house and I would play the wii for hours. Just being a kid with no worries other than wondering how I was gonna spend my days off during summer vacation. I’m 26 now and I really wish I could go back to such an amazing time.
I even loved this channel when I was younger. I used it even when we had computers and phones to look up the stuff, then it got shut down. In fact the only Wii channel I never used was the News Channel, because I never had a use for it.
turbo1347 ya because when 2013 came up all my friends were getting into phones and computers and I didn't have a phone at the time so I always jump to the and go straight to the forecast or news channel
Thank you for this, I’ve missed this. I remember being a kid and zooming all the way out on the globe and just listening to the music and spinning the globe. So much has changed and I miss some parts of the past…
the wii was such ahead of its time with a freaking forecast and news channel like what?! even this didnt carry over to the wii u and switch. feels like every console needs one now because it's such a cool feature.
This was the most satisfying channel on the wii knowing you could search around the world for the weather. And it was just something that made me smile even the music was absolutely amazing!
Shiver it's because on the japanese flag the red dot represents the rising sun that's why there different and nintendo is a Japanese company so it makes sense
I think what few people realised was that the star constellations in the background were actually accurate. You could make out easily Orion's belt for instance.
It kinda made sense why they'd discontinue this, by 2013 pretty much everyone had a smart phone, which was capable of loading up the weather in a near instant. No reason to load up the wii just to look for weather. But back on 2006? when Motorola razers and flip phones were normal, it would be faster to load up the forecast app on the wii, then trying to watch the news which was a bunch of yapping then a tiny bit of weather, then more yapping.
I felt devastated the day of the shutdown..... Watching the forecast channel was a huge part of starting my day and making me feel joyful and then one morning...... gone. I miss the Wii 😭
I didn’t have WiFi on my wii, but my aunt did. Every time I went over there I would go on this channel and just stare in wonder at regions I liked (N’Djamena, Arctic Circle, and South Poles) I sincerely miss this channel
this video makes me wanna cry i can just feel myself like 10 years old just spinning the globe and clicking random cities.... i used to love the music too and i still do ... wish the switch had a weather channel like this. i also wish i had known about the shutdown soon enough that i could have enjoyed it one last time
This is how I learned a lot of geography as a kid because we aren't taught it in America. I used to always like to check the weather in Cape Horn and Antarctica, good times.
I truly miss these relaxing sounds, not to mention the convenience of news and weather forecast from my Wii. They killed a good thing - a very good thing.
I still have the original wii... maybe for around 8 years? and i still use it, as a matter of fact, i don't have the wii u, nor the switch. this is all i need. and i'm sad that i never got to use the wii forevast or news channel cuz i thought it was boring... wish i could go back in time, and set things straight. i still play wii party, wii sports, idraw channel, zelda, super mario bros, ultimate band, just dance 2, 2014, and 16, penguins of the madagascar, and that game with the cars, forgot it's name.... oh, such nostalgia. i remember when i made my first mii with my brothers. there are so many that stayed unchanged to this day. im glad i didn't give up on the wii and sell it, but kept it with all my memories!
This reminds me of when I was in high school. I’d smoke a blunt, turn the channel on, click on random places I’ve never been, and just zoom out and spin the earth.
I remember back when I was only 4, my brother passed this console down to me in 2011 I would play the Tales of Mana(at least I think that’s what it’s called and after I would love to visit this channel just love to scroll through the different cities and look at the weather while listening to this comforting music. I would like to look for my town just by scrolling through, I never could though.I remember when I stopped using it for about a year, when I came back when I was around 7 or 8 I saw it and tried to see if it was still there, sadly it wasn’t. Sometimes, I would fall asleep to the music.... I miss those days.
Takes me back to 2011/2012 when I used to explore the Weather Channel on my old Wii I was 18 in my Senior Year of high school I wish I could go back to that time.
Glazed Lol you appreciate that? I've been emailing nintendo services for about 3 years now trying to have access to opening these channels again. Lol idk what's wrong with me, too nostalgic i guess.
everytime that i see the sigh saying .Shutdown. i tear up i loved this channel when i got the wii if you have a wii im sorry cause i do to its sad seeing everything go
no problem :) Its usually a demand / tech compatibility thing where as ong as the demand exists, the servers could be up indefinitely. Sometimes the demand is good, but the servers get shut down anyway due to them simply moving on. In this case it was the former. Sadly.
I actually looked up what that day (Jun. 26th, 2013) had in store, as at 0:55 there were thunderstorms in Cincinnati. Turns out, that was a part of a severe weather episode in the region.

Girls: you haven't seen Titanic? You don't even know what sad is.
Bois:
Not even a boy, but I feel this hard. I wish I was a kid again.
I always feel nostalgic whenever I hear the sound of the news channel opening
I wish they would re-release this for the Wii U. Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen. I use to spend so much time just listening to the music and exploring. R.I.P Nintendo WiFi :(
Don't worry, I am purchasing Sony, Mojang, and Nintendo in 2034.
pwoperbanana the wiiu is dying also.
This was a time before many people all had smartphones that a channel like this was something awesome which many people wanted!

RiiConnect24
I even loved this channel when I was younger. I used it even when we had computers and phones to look up the stuff, then it got shut down. In fact the only Wii channel I never used was the News Channel, because I never had a use for it.
turbo1347 ya because when 2013 came up all my friends were getting into phones and computers and I didn't have a phone at the time so I always jump to the and go straight to the forecast or news channel
@@MarMar_2002 I guess the wii was your phone back then :)
This really takes me back the music makes it better and nostalgic ;-;
I hope the Switch can bring something like this back
Swift if they do I swear to god I'll sell my moms car and buy a switch
PLEASE
Riiconnect24 for wii has you covered there!
switch will never be as iconic as the wii.
Thank you for this, I’ve missed this. I remember being a kid and zooming all the way out on the globe and just listening to the music and spinning the globe. So much has changed and I miss some parts of the past…
Man, I remember spinning the globe as if it were a fidget spinner.
the wii was such ahead of its time with a freaking forecast and news channel like what?! even this didnt carry over to the wii u and switch. feels like every console needs one now because it's such a cool feature.
It can be EVEN brought back in VWii (Wii U) by homebrew.
Crazy how I would come back to this channel on yt, I hated having so many of them on the menu but now I miss em 😔 Shoutout from Pittsburgh 🍻
I loved learning about places across the world thanks to this channel. The music was the best.
I loved the way you could spin the globe really fast. It was awesome.
This was the most satisfying channel on the wii knowing you could search around the world for the weather. And it was just something that made me smile even the music was absolutely amazing!
Nobody thought back then that the channel could come back one day. Eventually, it did.
Am I the only one who would go on and wonder why Japan had different weather symbols? I used to check this channel everyday...
Shiver it's because on the japanese flag the red dot represents the rising sun that's why there different and nintendo is a Japanese company so it makes sense
I think what few people realised was that the star constellations in the background were actually accurate. You could make out easily Orion's belt for instance.
Ugh the nostalgia i remember being at 6 and just scrolling through this loving Every second
Hey fancy, seeing you here
I remember only using this channel once back in the day. Thanks for making me remember this
It kinda made sense why they'd discontinue this, by 2013 pretty much everyone had a smart phone, which was capable of loading up the weather in a near instant. No reason to load up the wii just to look for weather. But back on 2006? when Motorola razers and flip phones were normal, it would be faster to load up the forecast app on the wii, then trying to watch the news which was a bunch of yapping then a tiny bit of weather, then more yapping.
RiiConnect24: Am I a joke to you?
I felt devastated the day of the shutdown..... Watching the forecast channel was a huge part of starting my day and making me feel joyful and then one morning...... gone. I miss the Wii 😭
Nostolgia. It always chills my body.
Everybody is on a nostalgia trip I know, but is nobody going to mention that it was *106* in Los Angeles?
I didn’t have WiFi on my wii, but my aunt did. Every time I went over there I would go on this channel and just stare in wonder at regions I liked (N’Djamena, Arctic Circle, and South Poles) I sincerely miss this channel
Wii was so revolutionary. People who didn't grow up with it won't ever understand
this video makes me wanna cry i can just feel myself like 10 years old just spinning the globe and clicking random cities.... i used to love the music too and i still do ... wish the switch had a weather channel like this. i also wish i had known about the shutdown soon enough that i could have enjoyed it one last time
riiconnect24 can bring it back to your wii
Anybody went into the other Wii channels when you get bored or was it just me
All of a sudden, the weather now feels nostalgic
This is how I learned a lot of geography as a kid because we aren't taught it in America. I used to always like to check the weather in Cape Horn and Antarctica, good times.
used to zoom all the way into the ocean and get absolutely terrified for some reason
No way as a 2023 kid i feel sad for the forecast channel :’(
I truly miss these relaxing sounds, not to mention the convenience of news and weather forecast from my Wii.
Takes me back to 2011/2012 when I used to explore the Weather Channel on my old Wii I was 18 in my Senior Year of high school I wish I could go back to that time.
i never used this in my entire life, i literally looked up this video to see how it looked ilke... and still it made me feel so nostalgic
yo are we just gonna ignore the fact that the West coast was 111 degrees that week oml
The video is celebrating a channel that nintendo shut down...not about the weather...that's about normal for that area anyways
The music makes it even sadder.
Why is this so calming? And I have never even was able to go on this channel as it shut down…
I'm so upset that I will never experience this for the first time again. Thanks for the upload.
Damn, this throws me back to 07-08
Goodbye Weather Channel
You will be missed.... 😢😢😢
RiiConnect24, or very soon, WiiLink24
if only there was a way that we could get it back like if everyone asked nintendo
Glazed Lol you appreciate that? I've been emailing nintendo services for about 3 years now trying to have access to opening these channels again. Lol idk what's wrong with me, too nostalgic i guess.
Izzy Winter you can get riiconnect24
There is:Riiconnect24
@@dowmad482 Omg thanks so much I'm so excited to check this out
everytime that i see the sigh saying .Shutdown. i tear up i loved this channel when i got the wii if you have a wii im sorry cause i do to its sad seeing everything go
RiiConnect24, or very soon, WiiLink24
It’s been 10 years since the WiiConnect24 was discontinued already.
WiiLink: allow me to introduce myself
no problem :)
Its usually a demand / tech compatibility thing where as ong as the demand exists, the servers could be up indefinitely. Sometimes the demand is good, but the servers get shut down anyway due to them simply moving on. In this case it was the former. Sadly.
imagine feeling nostalgic about a console you've never owned... yeah it's my case, wii's music is just that powerful and full of feelings
Alright I’ll be honest, I basically got the wii on launch date and never have I checked the weather with it
It’s been 11 years and I still miss this
It would have been great if we had this channel on the Nintendo Switch 💖
I know!😢
I actually looked up what that day (Jun. 26th, 2013) had in store, as at 0:55 there were thunderstorms in Cincinnati. Turns out, that was a part of a severe weather episode in the region.
I wouldn’t mind if they bought this back for the Switch, this channel gives me a fuck ton of nostalgia.
Sadly it did not happen... Also one of the casters (yes Weathernews calls them casters) has stepped down.
So satisfying I always get on here. Every time I go to my grandmas I will always go to the weather because the music is satisfying
You can get it working again by homebrewing your Wii.
