"Discover a Classic: Athens, Georgia" (1983)

Another Athens promo video from days long gone. I actually do not know when this video was made, but the Kenny Rogers concert poster says '83, so that's as good a guess as any.

This has to be at least a few years after '83. The Tate Center was completed that year, and is clearly complete and doesn't look brand new in this video.

I was there 1980-85. They constructed the mall during that time; seems like it opened about 1983. The Tate center was a huge improvement, nostalgia for Memorial hall notwithstanding. I truly miss those times; I went to a rodeo at UGA in 2017 then drove through south campus. It seemed to have a lot less green space

I grew up in Athens, and I was there in the 80’s. The mall opened in the spring of 1981.
