@@laurafulton7023 This would be the BMW shop in Concord California. I got the job done for half price elsewhere. In hindsight, I think the BMW part came with all the gearing instead of just the alternator.
@Jorg Fleige I got the same bike last summer and was just watching videos about it. Absolutely loving it, it’s my first bike. Metallic purple custom paint:) Hopefully I won’t need to do this repair anytime soon. Can’t believe the cost, that’s nuts Thanks
Hi, my stator keeps leaking. I changed the gasket and it continued to leak. I decided to change the gasket again just in case but it’s still leaking. Any ideas why?
Hi, normally there should be no leaks. Are you sure it's coming from the casing and not somewhere else ? Other Things I would check: 1. Properly clean old gasket + sand before installing the new one, 2. Check for cracks on the casing, 3 type numbers and gasket quality + ensure casing properly tightened and aligned. Hope it helps !
My 2009 ST was just diagnosed with this problem and the shop wants $1800 to fix it! Thanks for this video.
You are welcome. Yes, it's a known ailment of this bike, but reasonable easy and relatively much cheaper to fix at home. Cheers ✌️
@jorgensen8 1800$? What country? That’s insane. How much for the part?

Do I have to remove the oil before beginning?
Hi, no need to remove the oil 🙌 there may be a bit of oil when you remove the stator but it just on the casing. Important is just to keep it clean.
🙌
skipped the whole part of removing the flat pin wiring harness
