- Muslims often refer to the cloth that women wear over their hair as "hijab". But Dr. Shabir Ally says the Quran does not refer to the word hijab as a piece of clothing. It is mentioned 7 times in the Quran, sometimes as a mental block, other times as something that blocks a person from view. In 33:53, it is used as a screen to give the Prophet's wives privacy in their living quarters when guests were present. Dr. Shabir explains that chapter 33 mentions that there are specific rules for the wives of the Prophet, who are not like other women. Therefore, we cannot automatically extrapolate that since this was a rule for them, it should be a rule for all Muslim women.

Thankyou! it's about time we separated and explained Allah's words without the added biases of medieval scholars.
How enlightening and well explained 🐼
that was easy to understand . Thanks Dr Shabir
They will be moving to hadiths in the next video, but I wish he discussed about the hijab of voice that's mentioned in verse 32 of this Surah before moving to the hadiths. This verse tells the wives of the Prophet to not be over soft in their voices and doesn’t address all women just like verse 53. But Ibn Kathir's commentary says that this applies to ordinary women as well even though they weren’t addressed in this verse.
They hypocrites fabricated Ibn kathirs hadeeths because Allah didnt say that
As a Christian, I would agree that covering ones sexual parts is a sign of civility/respect, as a way of limiting ones sexual life to the private space, or specific individuals, but forcing the women to cover themselves outside their sexual parts, with an intent to avoid the sexual urge/abuse, when the same rule doesn't apply to the men, is treating the women as primarily sexual objects.
We know where you are coming from seeing how you want to apply what is applicable to the women to the men. In Islam we don't believe men and women are the same when it comes to your biological make up and the way we think. Maybe when you are sincere to yourself you would know that. There is a reason why a man can go top less and a woman can not. Why do you think women like to wear tide fitting cloth and short dresses with exposed low neck. Why are the men are men not following the same pattern if they are supposed to be the same.
God is commanding Muslims to do certain things and that includes both Men and women, but these commands are some times different for both Men and women. You would only ask why it's different because you think it's the Men who are coming up with these prescription. When a law is passed and the state enforces it you don't turn around and say why are the police forcing us. Muslims can encourage other Muslims to follow the will of God and that shouldn't be seen as force. Iran might be enforcing that as a country but that shouldn't be a question for Muslims to decide for Iran as a country. The western world is forcing certain practices on other countries who are barely surviving but you are unable to swallow it when countries are enforcing their own laws to their own citizens. I understand you think a person not walking necked on the street is enough modesty for you but Islamic standards is far higher than that when it comes to modesty.
@@haliduhudu5905 Beside the sexual organs, all the other differences between the women and the men are not primarily sexual, but have to do with the social roles, so there's no reason for different treatment of the genders in case of sexuality, except that some branches of Christianity does recognize woman's breasts as a sexual organ, while doesn't in case of the men for obvious reason. There's no issue if a woman is actually ashamed of her body and for this reason decides to cover herself, but it's a sexual objectification of the women in case when a woman is forced to cover her whole body, because the society is perceiving her in primarily a sexual manner, and the full covering is the only way for a man to avoid the sexual abuse and instead to look at a woman in a professional manner.
@@ivanos_95 You are making a case for the Qur'an without knowing, the Qur'an warns men first in surah noor 24:31 to lower their gaze and guard their modesty before the women were also warned in the next verse. Muslims are not saying only women should cover and it's ok but both Men and women have to play a role to prevent sexual objectification of women and that includes admonishing others. These days women are beauty sick because we have the mentality that anyone should whatever s/he wants. Due to that unnecessary standards have been set for women to painfully meet before they can come out from their houses. It's simple, it's either you follow the ways of society or the ways of God, we choose the ways of God. At the same time I disagree with anyone who forces someone to follow God's command. But let us not mix God's command with a particular country's laws.
What is interesting about Islam is that it looks at the society as a whole but what we have today is that, oh you can drink as much alcohol you want because you are free to do so but don't loss your mind and we both when you are intoxicated nothing matters and you only come to your senses after the damage has been caused. Dress the way you like and after you are raped we track the person which can not be undone. Islam believes in all of us been responsible in making society better instead of everyone having it in his or her own way.
@@haliduhudu5905 If the main emphasis of Islam really was on self-control in this case, like it's in Christianity, there would be no need for women to cover themselves, because the average man in an Islamic society would look at woman in primarily a professional manner, and there would be a minimal danger of sexual abuse, but a fact that an Islamic society is expecting the women to cover their whole body, due to treating them as primarily sexual objects, while a woman which is not fully covered leads the average man in an Islamic society to provocation, and the guilty are the uncovered women rather than the men who abuse them, shows that the emphasis on self-control amongst the Muslims is irrelevant in practice. I can't speak for all Christians in this case, but in my branch of Christianity as an example, we recognize a woman or a man who goes in the public with their sexual parts uncovered as an adulterer, and an act of disrespect towards the other people, so by this standard we do force such a person to cover its sexual parts, and do our best to enforce a punishment if this person continues with such a behaviour, while in your case, the standard goes beyond the sexual parts, or even seems to go so far that you recognize only the most covered of women as normal, so you would be most serious about your standards if you aimed to enforce the so called burka.
@@haliduhudu5905 You do know women get raped wearing hijab/burka/Abaya/jilbab right

not true may Allah guide you, Allah describes those people who follow thier lust and desire as blind people, you can't say what's allowed in isalm and what's not allowed just like I can't marry a women if I don't pay her islamic finicial support even if she didn't want to.

True head covering is tradition I am in my fifties living in USA when I was growing up Somalia most women didn’t cover it was common when women get married they would wear African style turban because that was a sign they were married women this veiling thing started 1990s because of the rise of Wahhabism

Assalamu Aleijkum wa rahmatullahi!
I am going to take my shahada next Friday.
I have one question what really don't effect my decision to accept Islam and it's nothing to do with topic of this video, but it's going on in my mind and can't have "peace" with it, and if someone ask about it from me one day, I really don't know the answer and I would be happy if anyone can answer to this one.
If angels doesn't have free will, and they have to obay Allah, how it's possible that Iblis refused to prostrate himself before Adam?
Iblis wasn’t an angel. He was made to be amongst the angels the way a child would be allowed to eat at the adults table despite still being a child, because she conducts herself better than the other children.
Iblis was a djinn which is the other creation by Allah. They exist in an alternate dimension and have free will just like us. There are Christian djinn and Jewish djinn and pagan djinn. You can do more quranic research this from here.
It is said that Iblis was a jinn. I know this was commented a while ago, but hope this helps!
• Sahih International:
And [mention] when We said to the angels, Prostrate to Adam, and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from [i.e., disobeyed] the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.
• Dr. Mustafa Khattab:
And ˹remember˺ when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” so they all did-but not Iblîs,[[ See footnote for {2:34}.]] who was one of the jinn, but he rebelled against the command of his Lord. Would you then take him and his descendants as patrons instead of Me, although they are your enemy? What an evil alternative for the wrongdoers ˹to choose˺!

But what did the wives of the prophet wear when out in public?
Hijab=screen....hence we dont have to carry a screen whete we go We just wear the screen
Is it true that masjid nabwi had only one place for wadu and both men and women used to wadu at the same place.
Yeah, hadith in Bukhari 193 says that during the Prophet's time men & women used to do wudu together
@@jubairahmed6386 i think we have exaggerated issue of hijab too much,it seems it was not that big issue at prophet's time (PBUH)

Yes
My Opinion: I think putting verses of the Qur'an and the Hadiths apart to explain a certain practice or ruling is not the right thing to do. The verses of the Qur'an together with the Hadiths gives a clear picture of what was instructed and practice at the time of the Prophet PBUH and the sahabah. The previous video was talking about how Muslim women can not go out without the outer covering over a casual dress worn in site the house. This video talks about the Prophet's wives talking to visit in their house behind a screen. I think all these verses are related and should not be isolated. The wearing of a long dress to cover enough was a command to both believing women and the wives of the Prophet PBUH, of which in the house they don't need to. This video on this verse I think is giving us a view on what happens in the house. The women are not in their well covered clothes because they are in the house and here we have visitors and so it necessitates that the women should speak behind a screen or dress modestly like when they are outside. This should not be applicable to only the wives of the Prophet PBUH. There are certain verses that are applicable to only the wives of the Prophet PBUH but not the screening. Are you saying that if you have visitor your wife can wear her casual dress and have a chat with your visitor because she is in the house. Those that are allowed to see her that way are listed in the previous verse you discussed earlier on and does not include visitors. When I listen to your views on the Qur'an and Hadiths they are always maybe it's this or that and I wander why you and your daughter is dressed in such a sunnah way. It's just a culture is not an enough answer. People are getting confused and liberalised here.
I hope you read the comments.
They are just confusing the Muslim umma. I don't know how as a scholar he will misunderstand these verses and try to interpret them apart from the Ahadeeth.
But the head covering was culturap and environmental hence it existed pre islam and continued for free women after revelation because it was a social identifier and according the 4 sunni schools slave women did not wear it and their awrah was mostly navel to knee. If the head covering were mandatory every woman would have had to wear it but they didn't. There is also a hadith of omar ripping the headcovering off a slave telling her do not dress like free women. It's evident that it was a social, classist fashion garment not a religiously ordained one. Even when allah speaks about covering the chest, it seems he only mentions to do so with the flowing parts of the headcovering because it would be the easiest thing for them to do. It was basically covering the genitals with what they already wore so that it's only a small unburdemsome adjustment to accomplish modesty.

Assalam o Alaikum! Please explain to me how ALLAH is love in himself from eternity when there was no creation, while He is one and alone, not trinity? So He had no relationship with as He now has with creation. As Christians claim that God is Trinity, then it's easy to explain that three persons of same substance love each other perfectly from eternity.
Allah never had a state of being where he didn't have the plan of creating the Universe. So in his plans and desires the Creation always existed. Just like a mother expecting a child could feel love towards it before it is born, so can Allah. As for Allah being love, why should it be taken to mean that it MUST mean ontological existence of love among the three persons of the God unit? It is an ad hoc argument. Another variation of this argument is "How can God be a father without having a son? Therefore Jesus is eternally begotten," or how can God be merciful without having something to be merciful towards? As I stated above, Allah didn't decide one day to create. It was always within himself to create, to show mercy and love. Manifestation of these attributes came to be later.
Modesty
No need to go further! How the wife’s of the prophet PBUH were dressing their clothes, they are the mothers of believers and we should follow their dress code.
They lived 7th century and dress code was based on their culture we don’t follow religion about Mohamed and his culture like Hadith centric literalist but we follow his theology.
